Right then and there, the book wiggles and organically morphs into a horrible alien bat-like creature. The book is alive!! Eralynn "screams", jolts in surprise, drops the "book" and the creature it is now attacks Garmus and Eralynn!

Ecko cheerily exited the mansion, determined to flip through the book on interdimensional spaces as much as possible before it was inevitably confiscated by the actual investigators. He wished to return back to the exuberant, lively town of Hupperdook, and a moment of sadness sweeps on the Kenku as he watches the book being carted off. But it is quickly replaced by excitement at the promise of exploring the rest of Candlekeep.
In his usual manner, Ecko's room in the inn was abuzz with sounds. Mechanical clinks and whirrs, as well as small explosions at time, floods the area nearby with noise and occasional puffs of smoke. He often lets out swears and triumphant noises of triumph, often in the form of various sounds the multitude of machines in the Omnismelter created, causing his room to sound like a veritable den of machinery despite all of Ecko's inventions being located entirely in the bulging sack across his back.
"It looks like my bag!"Ecko exclaims, recalling it rupturing back at the mansion. Poor Fistandia will be finding random screws for years under floorboards and couches. "Have you read it? I am sure it's interesting in its own way."
Ecko jumps in surprise as it turns out to be a very interesting book indeed! Init: 5

Adventure Background: After our adventure in Fistandia's Mansion, we collectively decided to spend the night at Candlekeep at the House of Rest to...well, rest up. Frankly, the Candlekeep staff at the House said it was the least they could do for completing our "investigations" into whatever happened to Matreous. The funny thing was, they still thought we were investigators! Lewl!
Eralynn was excited about, finally, the prospect finding a book on art and drawing, she wouldn't "shut up" about it, nearly trailing a cloud of crayon bits conveying how estatic she was to learn more on her magical craft. But, the Gods of Fate had something else in store for us. As Eralynn was looking in the vast shelves of the Keep, she came across a book called Mazfroth’s Mighty Digressions.
It wasn't really the title, it was more the appearance of the book itself. Mazfroth’s Mighty Digressions was seven inches wide and nine inches tall. The brown leather cover was very worn from time and use. The name of the book and its author, Mazfroth Gethur, were elegantly written in cursive with black ink on the first page. As Eralynn flipped through it, the care put into the front page, however, did not apply to the rest of the book’s contents. Mazfroth’s handwriting was terribly messy and hasty, as if he couldn’t write down his thoughts fast enough. Furthermore, the book’s 151 pages don’t all match, indicating that the author kept adding more pages. The book’s stitching was extremely haphazard, looking like it could come undone at any moment.
She walked up to the group, who were becoming fast friends for sure, showing then. She made an emotional face to everyone. Look at this! Have you ever seen a book like this? What do you make of it?
Right then and there, the book wiggles and organically morphs into a horrible alien bat-like creature. The book is alive!! Eralynn "screams", jolts in surprise, drops the "book" and the creature it is now attacks Garmus and Eralynn!

Ysabell exited the mansion with the others and their new furry friend. It's funny how things work... she thought to herself as she stroked the cat's chin later that evening, ...it always seems that whenever one soul is lost, another one can be found just around the corner. As the feline began to purr, she decided that she had two tasks to complete while she was at the Keep: 1. Find a replacement (or figure out herself) how to end the village's blight; and 2. Find a suitable name for the cat. She suspected number 2 would be much more difficult.
The following day, as promised, Ysabell joined Eralynn in her hunt for books on art, smiling at the girl's excitement and enthusiasm for the task. As she walked, little nameless in tow in a small carrying bag she had fashioned her for the previous night, she'd occasionally veer off to ask a random person if they might know anything about blights, curses and the like. To her disappointment, she found little success though she remained determined nonetheless.
"Well this is surprising," she commented deadpanly when another book transformed and the camera swiveled towards her (a hint of a smirk on her face as she turned slightly towards it). As she placed the cat on a nearby shelf, she pulled out her scythe - appropriately sized for once - before lending her assistance.

Ecko leta out a surprised sound of a deafening firework cracking off unexpectedly. Several onlookers cover their ears. They were about to have a reason to, as well - Ecko immediately reaches into his bag and produces a small contraption he crafted overnight. A little bit of goop from the frog that attacked him that left a slimy residue on his now-spotless shield is encased in a glass jar. A small fire burns underneath, causing the mixture inside to roil and boil. It crackles with unstable, chaotic, magical energy - and Ecko points the firing mechanism, a small, rubber nozzle, directly at the book. He squeezes the trigger with an excited noise, wondering what it would do!
He points the contraption at Erelynn as if to say, ‘is this cool’?

A warbling mass of energy slams into the book! Ecko bounces excitedly, attention rapidly shifting towards admiring his invention rather than the task at hand.
