Tordek hurries in after nearly over sleeping after all the ale he drank and a night of dreams of getting my own rubies like what he was shown the night before as he quickly nods back at the barkeep. "Yes... they said they were leaving at first light. Are they around here packing?" as I look around seeing some new faces... realizing that I'm a new face to many of them as well.
The barkeep sets down plates of eggs, toast, and various unidentifiable meats. He also has a bar maiden bring over some water and ale. He places the plates of food down, before looking at the newcomer.
"A bit late, aren't you? But I suppose you're one of those the dwarf mentioned might be joining after you all went to bed last night. As for the dwarf himself...that would explain why one of my rooms smells the way it does. It's going to take my wife days to get the smell out of the floorboards and the sheets. The damned dwarf left the place smelling like the back end of an entire barnyard. Never smelled anything worse in all my years as a tavern owner and I've smelled things, believe me. As for you all, if that was your dwarf and his friend well then, I'm sorry to say but they are long gone. Left in the middle of the night. Got a message of some sort and said they had to take care of some unfinished business further up the road. The dwarf left the caravan and a couple of horses for you in the stables though said you know what to do with them as you're supposed to be taking them up the High Road to some foothills or something. If you want to catch them though, I would leave sooner rather than later. Just follow the road south of here and you should be able to catch 'em in no time. When you do catch 'em, tell that dwarf that he owes me extra for smelling up my room the way he has. Costing me a whole week's wages just to get the smell out."
He shakes his head before muttering something about dwarves under his breath, "you all let me know if you need anything else."
He shuffles off back behind the bar, leaving you all to eat your breakfast and talk among yourselves.

"Too bad to your wife and your poor nose, old man. But that's the life of an innkeeper, I guess. And so is the life of adventurers. You only need to clean up the Dwarf's room for one night. But me and my friends have to get along with those guys for days or weeks." Jade chuckles. She uses her one hand to pick up the boiled eggs and other hand to take out a shiny silver piece. "I'm thinking of ordering one more drink before our departure. And I like to hear stories while drinking. Do you know something interesting about the High road? Like rumors about monsters and bandits?"
Persuasion:21,13
(Jade uses silver pieces to get advantage on persuasion. If DM allows my advantage I'll use the biggest roll. If no I'll use the first one)
Tordek smiles at the mention of the life of adventures as he realizes what we are about to embark on. Looking over the others wondering what skills they have and who can drive that cart hoping that the one looking to get a little more information from the barkeep can maybe see if there was anything more we need to know about the the road ahead.
(I’ll allow it, I’m assuming that you rolled a 19.)
The barkeep eyes the silver piece in Jade’s hand before looking her over and grabbing a pitcher of ale for the table. He shuffles back over before taking the piece of silver from Jade and placing it in between his teeth, biting down to test if it’s real. When he’s satisfied that it’s real, he slips it into his pocket.
“Aye, I know quite a few things about the high road and those that journey along it. Rumor has it that all sorts of monsters call the forest near the road home. The worst lately has been the goblins. I can’t count how many adventurers like yourselves I’ve had stumble into the inn spinning tales about goblin ambushes. Many of them show up with black arrows sticking out of them, begging me and my wife for aid. Most of them don’t make it and those that do…they ain’t the same as when they first left. My wife says maybe they were held captive, and something gets messed up in their heads or something.”
He shrugs, “I don’t know if I believe all that…but they ain’t the same adventurers that left us. If the High Road is where that dwarf is asking you all to go, I suggest you all be careful and keep your wits about you. Nothing good comes from that road…nothing.”
He goes quiet before looking over each of you and in a moment of shocking sincerity, he says, “I truly hope you all make it; you seem like a decent bunch. Best of luck to you all.”
He shuffles off back behind the bar and into a room that you all can only assume houses the kitchen or storage room.

Tordek looks around the room. "This is one quiet group. I don't mind taking the reigns. I'm not as skilled at that as others might be if we want to move quickly and try to catch up to with their head start."

I'm sorry to say I'm withdrawing from the game.
