After a while of following the vines.
"You don't think he is an absolutely mad genius sending us to battle his latest creation do you? An eight legged owlbear that shoots poison from each knee?"
"...well NOW I do!"says Osborn, imagination going wild. "I guess we ask Aspherer for proof, or a code word or something? Meh, play it by ear. I don't think there's much that the five of us can't handle"
He carries on walking, trying to act nonchalant and definitely not thinking of eight-legged owlbears.
After walking for some time, you reach a ruined henge. The same blue vines a growing around a circle of stone, with a statue of a bird stands in the center. The woods have created a clearing around these ruins. You feel your heart skip a beat as your eye come upon four bodies lying dead in the center of the henge, two, a elf and half elf, wearing singed light blue robes, and two people wearing crimson red robes and both wearing a white smiling mask. The air is filled with the scent of rotting copses and charcoal.

Herbert: stops at the edge of the clearing and opens one of the satchels, rummages for a bit, grabs a small bit of cloth and covers his mouth and nose with it.
Then he says to Osborn "can't see any eight legged owlbears yet. HahahaHAHAH" and laughs a little too loud, scaring himself.
Herbert scans the surrounding area: perception 10
Then to the group "What do you chaps think? Shall we scout the perimeter or go have a peek at those bodies?"
Osborn stands shocked at the clearing's entrance and then horrified at Herbert's 'joke'. Then he cocks his head as if hearing something else, dismissing it and proceeding into the scene of carnage before him.
"I suggest the big fellas keep an eye out for danger, I want to work out what's happened here"
Investigation check on the bodies: 4
History or Religion (same modifier) check on the statue: 13
Perception check for any signs of traps or danger: 12
Gromedark will keep an eye out for anything that moves. (Perception: 11 )
"What happen here? Why some have mask? Do you think one of them is Aspherer?" Gromedark will jerk a thumb toward the bodies.
"Gromedark hide nearby and keep look-out." (If the monolithic stones provide full cover, or even 3/4 cover Gromedark will try to hide. If not he stands near them and waits. Stealth: 19 )
Looking around this area, you don't see any danger, but you do notice a crude footpath wandering off into another side of the woods. Osborn, looking at the statue, it seems to be a symbol of the Circle of the Bluejay, you can't recall much about them though. As you are investigating the bodies, they let a frantic jerk, then the bodies rise to a slumped stand, these zombie begin to lunge at you all. I am going to need everyone to roll initiative. Osborn is closer to the bodies since he tried to investigate them, while everyone else is about twenty feet away.
On his turn he will cast Chill Touch at the zombie closest to the group. To hit: 23 for 8 necrotic damage. If hits the creature has disadvantage on attacks for the round. Herbert will then back away from the creatures as far as he can.
(ooc: What is the size of the henge? Both the radius or diameter, and the height of the stone monoliths. Also, what is the distance from the edge of the henge to the beginning of the woods at the end of the clearing?)

Gromedark will fire an arrow at the zombie lurching toward him.
Attack: 24 Damage: 16
"Try and keep your distance! Use your bows!"
Gromedark will move 30 feet around the henge to the left, using the stones for any cover they provide. (If the gigantic, monolithic stones of the henge provide total cover then Gromedark will try to hide: 22 but if they don't he will use them for whatever cover they do provide.)
Gromedark silently curses himself for falling prey to the old 'playing possum' trick. Hopefully his lapse in judgement wouldn't get anyone killed.

Herbert's skeletal hand laches into Zombie 2, as it groans in pain. Orin rushes towards Zombie 3 and their maul slams into the zombies chin, breaking the zombie's neck, leaving the head on just by the rotten skin. Gromedark vanishes behind one of the stone in the henge, and their arrow flies through Zombie 2's head, the tip reappearing out of the zombie's head. Zombie two the frantically runs at Osborn, trying to slam into him. Attack: 7 Damage: 5

The henge has about a 30 feet diameter (15 foot radius) and the clearing is 5 feet bigger on either side
