There are two major time periods of the world in terms of people: B.S. and A.S. (Before Schism and After Schism). Schism refers to the Devine Schism, a war between the gods in which the god that were victorious stayed in power, whilst the defeated gods were either imprisoned, stripped of their goodlihood, or killed. Most regions of the known world use the same calendar.
The current date is the 37th of Menas, 1224 A.S.
Each month has 50 days. There are 3 months in each season. The year starts with the first day of spring and ends with the first day of winter.
Galens Menas Spring Myrith --------------------------------------- Benian Wolheth Summer Nahn --------------------------------------- Serom Calo Fall Flyth -------------------------------------- Dorhent Zeplorn Winter Vloen
Small notes: A place of worship is called a Cordir and someone in high rank in religious practices would be a Corder.
The kingdom once know singularly as Frade was separated into two around 4 years ago. The former king and queen who lived in Wedford Keep had two daughters, one a half-elf, the other a human. There was a mix up during the birth, so no one remembered who was born first. When the two became of age, they decided to rule the kingdom together. But they would always dissagree on certain subject, and eventually the kingdom was split into two. The half-elf queen, Jaseris rules over the knew kingdom of Oshara, and is heavy set in her Fey roots. The human queen, Oviel, rules over what is left of Frade. Though the citizens are able to cross the boarders when they wish, there are always rumors of a civil war on the horizon. It is said the two queens have not spoken since the separation, and have split the castle as well. Last year powerful magic users created the Anghor hills to further separate the kingdoms.
The earliest story of Bertrand the Foundling begins with an abbess hearing the wailing of a child. The women of the monastery planned to care for the child only briefly. A teamster layman that brought them supplies would surely return with news of the child's parents this month. His name changed from "angel" to "sprout" to "sapling" before he found his own name, "Bertrand." Later, he would discard his presumptive human identity as his infernal ancestry revealed itself.
A sympathetic monk allowed Bertrand to keep the notes and copied pages from his studies at the monastery, but there would be no shelter for him there. For a few years, Bertrand roamed, seeking seclusion in a cave or a wooded grove, meditating and attempting to practice the principles he learned in his adolescence. Ultimately, the silence was maddening and the cast-out monk made his way to Wedford. There he disappeared into the masses of the busy city, as alone in a crowd as he had been in a cave. He found a small cell in a charitable orphanage, earning his keep through utility in a secluded rooftop garden and the orphanage's busy kitchen.
Bertrand abandoned any hope of finding his parents or their family. "A dusky woman," "a stern, bespectacled man," and "a small, green-roofed vardo" were too common in the lands of Oshara. Instead, he meditated on his recurring dream. The burning, bat-winged warrior that escaped the citadel at Xaith, leaving a charred path south. A deep, weeping tomb. The stave that turned in on itself over and over, bends so intricate that he couldn't replicate it with paper and brush. A decade past where Bertrand's free time was devoted to tying knots into a sailor's rope until one morning he stared into the newest knot and the dream came into his waking life.
I almost died. A Blue Slaad infected me with chaos phage. I would have been gone if my parents didn't take me to the healer. Ofcourse my parents couldn't pay the healer so they had to take a loan, and the only people willing to lend my parents money were loansharks. We lived in poverty for years.
That was just the beginning of my quest. The disease was cured, but the chaos still raged inside. I was the weird kid that didn't fit in. When I reached adulthood I decided to leave. I had nothing in common with my peers, so I'd rather find peace somewhere else. I tried to find peace in religion, but that didn't work out for me. One night I found shelter in a cordir and there was some kind of commotion. Apparently they had kicked out some tiefling kid that night, and I had just missed it. I cursed at them and left. I couldn't find the kid, but sometimes I wonder how he's doing.
I decided that I needed to learn more about magic. I never had the talent for spellcasting, but I needed to learn more about the everhanging chaos of limbo that ruined my life so many years ago. Unfortunately I stil haven't had much success. I've learned to cope, but I'll never live a normal life. I drift from town to town, doing odd jobs whenever I can.

Kerry was born in Wedford to the noble Wranavyn family (with their 3 older siblings). Growing up they were taught by many tutors and was being trained to be a diplomat for the Wranavyn family. Kerry's training was slightly behind their eldest brother's (who was in the same field, just 10 years ahead). Through Kerry's childhood their other two siblings were born. Kerry and all of their siblings each have responsibilities for which they have been trained (so that they can one day lead the area their nobility grants them control over because their parents are aging). When Kerry was 19, their eldest brother was killed when trying to negotiate with a barbarian tribe to the West of Wedford. Since this, Kerry was forced out of training early to take up the mantle of diplomat. This was especially emergent as their family needed to maintain power and influence on both sides of the newly-divided city. In the years following, Kerry wasn't as defenseless as their older brother had been as he took up swordsmanship. As a war was brewing (with its center being in the divided city of Wedford), their little sister's position in charge of the family's combative responsibilities was one of the most critical but without warning she disappeared into the night. Rumor in the city was that, she was said to be seen running out of the city and to the North, reportedly covered in blood. Kerry was tasked with finding her and bringing her home (as their father reassumed the role of diplomat and combative leader). Kerry packed up the supplies they would need and prepared to leave to find their sister.
Sorry for the delay everyone. I'll be playing a human twilight domain cleric. Here's Elian Alpenbone's backstory:
The transition from day to night has always been a meaningful part of Elian's life. While he was growing up in his parents' tavern it brought excitement; he spent most most of his days patiently waiting for the arrival of the night and the excitement that came with it. As day turned to night the people would come in, and they brought joy, conversation, and song with them. As his life wore on many of the most important moments of his life seemed to happen just as the sun was starting to set: his first kiss, the first steak he ever cooked perfectly, the death of his mother, and many more.
It was this last moment that spurred him to search for a greater power for comfort. Neither of his parents were particularly religious, so he wasn't quite sure where to turn. When he took time to really reflect on it, he couldn't help but think about the constant presence of twilight in the important parts of his life. He reflected and found that he always took comfort in the night, despite the fact that it is often feared as the home of countless horrors. He came to follow Caligo, the God of Night and dedicated his life to serve a nearby Cordir.
He has served as a Corder for many years now, helping people when he can. Lately, however, he has begun to feel a pull toward something greater. He can't quite put a finger on it, but he gets the feeling every day at twilight that he is needed elsewhere, almost like the sun is calling him to chase it as it crests over the horizon. He has decided it's time to follow this feeling, to set out to adventure and see where this journey can take him.
Would you share some general guidelines about how posts should look? I've never done play-by-post and the FAQ is pretty vague.
I'm not sure how much I can help on this aspect. A lot of players I've seen type dialogue in bold letters or in a separate color, and out of the game comments in parenthesis. Since there are many players, if I'm posting to a specific player I will put the character's name at the top of the post to depict the post is directed toward them.
I haven't played PbP in a long while, but when I did it was with a system that was more resource based, and... diceless. Everybody just added their hp and energy in their posts to make it easier to keep track of everything. Ofcourse, we didn't have something like D&D beyond that helped us keep track of things.

I've seen 4 character backgrounds so far out of 6 players, so we are probably going to have to wait a little longer.
I will be sending the link to the game thread with an opening text within a day or two. I can keep it open ended in case some people aren't ready.
Hey! sorry for joining late! Ill be playing a Tabaxi Warlock
Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to start. Make sure you have everything set you want, don't forget to roll for your starting gold.
