"Oh, you are from Silverymoon Quip, I didn´t know, but it is a large settlement after all. So I take it you know Fret, I mean Fredegar Rockcrusher." Tylaerys looks with great curiosity at Quips letter.
(i imagine the letter one of response to a thesis submitted by quip on the genealogy of dragons and dragonborn in the multiverse, it poses questions in the realm of "Given the problem of tracing lineage, one would need to know the defining characteristics of dragons, both by genus, species and family, then one would have to find a way to track familial traits without direct interaction with dragons that no longer live in the world, and without succumbing to engulfment by any dragons that are alive and available for questioning." It goes into more formal language and detail, but that's the gist of his it reads in my mind. The GM can veto or alter that as necessary)
"Impressive theories you discuss there Quip I admit it´s too advanced for me but I can see that Oghma would be proud you and your research." Tylaerys says appreciatively.
"Oh this is interesting stuff." Aster mumbles, peeking over Tylaerys' shoulder at Quip's letter. They pay little to no mind to the food around them as they try to read it, but have no idea of anything written in it "Did you write it? What is it about?"
Quip takes a sip of water, gently clears her throat and says.
"I surmised that it would benefit the health and wellness of so called, half-blooded, humanoids; Half-elf, Half-orc, Dragonborn, Tiefling, Aasimar, Kiefling, Axximar, Half-Giant, etc. To find a way to codify, classify and categorize aforementioned humanoids based not only on their human lineage, but also by their ancestral lineage. This is simple with elves and orcs, but with ancient powerful beings, some from other planes, it was hard to get funding for the project. Being Dragonborn myself, I decided to focus on my own lineage and sent a hypothesis and method projection to the leaders of Silverymoon asking for monetary aide. While I did not receive the aide I asked for, "Fret" as they call him, right hand to lady Alustriel, wrote me back personally with peer feedback on my methods. It is one of the shining moments of my college career and I carry it with me as a reminder to always take a second look at things"
She swallows another gulp of water and puts a morsel of food in her mouth before anyone can ask questions
Tylaerys stands a bit surprised by the sudden stream of words from Quip. "That was a tenday of words right there Quip, I can hear you are very knowledgeble about these things, even rivalling the extensive knowledge of the esteemed Fredegar Rockcrusher perhaps. You are right to be proud of that letter."Tylaerys says and smiles, coming up to the sleds. "So who were your old trainers Kalec, maybe I know of them." Tylaerys says, again curiosity in her voice.
Kalec nods at Tylaerys' question. "Perhaps. There's Captain Holt Raymond who used to quiz me about Azuth, Sir Terrance Yogurtbane who got me in shape and Lady Pearl Jaka. Pearl could be childish at times, but she was great at finding the truth.

"No. I´m afraid not Kalec, even though I meet a lot of people I only really know the ones visiting the courts I admit. It will be refreshing for me and my sheltered lifestyle to finally be on the road meeting people from all walks of life." Tylaerys answers a bit apologetic. "Now let´s see if these sleds would fit us all, but don´t expect them to, us being eight guards all in all."
Like Tylaerys, Kane went inside the tavern and retired for the night, knowing that a good night’s sleep was important for the upcoming journey. After waking up and getting dressed and having breakfast, Kane goes outside to see the other members getting ready. He hears Tylaerys last sentence, and immediately exclaims “I call ridding with Tylaery!” He then notices how eager he sounded. “You know, is she doesn’t mind.“ Kane makes his way to the sled Tylaerys is near, but doesn’t get on it. He waits for her permission.
Tylaerys can´t help but laugh warmly hearing Kane coming on. "Let´s see what the others say about who should go in the sleds, if the dwarves have any room for us that is." She then turns to Kane and speaks in a more lowered and a bit more serious voice. "Listen Kane, I really don´t mind the attention you give me. Just don´t let me be a distraction in the tests to come, we all will need your full attention on the task at hand. In the unforgiving lands we are about to enter, firmly in the grip of Auril the Frostmaiden, distractions could prove fatal I fear." She smiles at Kane. "And whatever feelings I may have, know that I am first and foremost a servant of Mystra."
When Tylaerys first talks to Kane, he is excited and eager. But she continues talking, his smile begins to frown. “I..I understand. No distractions. Mission first, feelings later. It’s just…your smile, your laugh. It’s makes me feel good..in here.” He holds his hand close to his chest. He then lowers it. When she mentions feelings she may have, he perks up a little. “Feelings you may have? What..kind of feelings?”
Another laugh "No feelings I care to speak of now, of that you can be sure my dear Kane. I´m glad you feel good, you of all deserve it, just remember what I said." A brief pause and then Tylaerys turns to the others."Are we all here and ready to go then?"
Kane keeps his small smile but is confused by what Tylaerys said. (“No feelings I care to speak of now?”) Kane thinks to himself. She means either her she has no feelings for him, or she does, but this isn’t the right time to talk about them. Kane hopes it’s the latter, but he isn’t sure. He wants to ask her what she means, but then remembers. “No distractions.” He quietly keeps to himself until it’s time to leave.
Allyn finishes his breakfast and stuffs a chunk of bread into the pockets under his cloak before heading out to the sleds with the others.
He tries to encourage Kane as he walks by on his way to the sleds “Cheer up, friend” he gives him a sympathetic smile “Perhaps some traveling music to ease your mind? An Orcish marching song, a cautionary tale of adventurers who did not heed the warnings of the gods and met a tragic end in an avalanche, or perhaps a song of star-crossed lovers?” He strums a notes on his lute as he waits for word of their departure.
Kane smiles back at the bard. He’s trying to help. “There’s one song..that I like to listen too. However, the words are in Elvish.” He reaches into his coat and pulls out a very worn piece of paper with a song’s lyrics. The song is called “La Seine”. He hands it to Allyn. “If you could play it, it might make me a little better. I’m..just in a confused state right now. Here’s someone that makes me smile and feel good, and I don’t even know how she feels.” Kane looks up at the bard. “Sorry I’m laying this all on you. I don’t think I introduced myself. I’m Kane, of Oghma.” He holds out his hand for a handshake.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“I am Allyn” he returns Kane’s handshake “We met briefly last night, but there was a lot going on at that time. I serve Oghma as well, knowledge is our greatest tool. May he guide you on your journey.”
He looks at the parchment and nods to Quip “Ensemble, of course. I do know some Elvish songs, but not this one. Let’s see if we can pick it up.” He starts to play
Allyn is able to master the song beautifully. Kane leans back and closes his eyes and listens. When Allyn finishes, Kane says, “I remember the first time I heard that song. I was maybe 12 years old, I was passing by house on my way from getting food. The song was so beautiful, that I dared to enter the house. It was an elderly man playing the lute and a young half elf woman singing. When the man saw me, a Tielfing in his house, he began to chase me around and try to hit me with the lute. Finally, I jumped out the window and hid in the bushes. He gave up looking for me. The woman, however, knew where I was. She waited until the man left and came to me. She handed me the lyrics to the song and patted my head. And then she went back inside. I ran home and never went by that house again. Since then, every time I see a bard, I ask them to play this song. It reminds me of the first time someone showed me kindness.” Kane looks back at Quip and Allyn. “Thank you for that.”
A single tear trickles down Tylaerys cheek. "That was...beautiful. Thank you." Tylaerys says to Allyn and Quip. "And thanks for sharing that song Kane. The world is full of prejudice and it can be difficult to be different. You are among friends now Kane, friends who will show you kindness."

I'm very gay, I'd like a few dollars
