Kane sees Tylaerys’ tone change when taking about mother’s. He now puts a hand on her shoulder. “I guess have parents who could have done better jobs raising us, but that’s in the past. What matters now is protecting people through this cold.” He puts on her his beaver coat, smiling at her, before heading with her back to the tavern.
Tylareys seems lost in distant memories for a moment but then. "Yes, you are right, we have a great quest before us, we shouldn´t dwell on the past now, it could show a dangerous distraction in the challenges to come." She says to the others, but mostly to herself it seems.
"Friends" she replies to Quip and smiles, confirming the relations as they leave for the tavern.
(OOC: To be clear, Tylaerys is ready to move on, don´t mind rping though)
"Damn, I always forget to say my name." The old man mutters as he stops in his tracks and listens to the questions thrown his way. " I need to be better at this."
"To answer your MANY questions lady, and to be perfectly sure, .. I am not going with you," he says this like it's the most absurd thing in the world to think he would. " I hired you to secure the Clan's travel. The dwarves are paying you and I already took my share. You know for helping you get a reason to get where you need to go. " He winks.
"The Battlehammer will give you 100 gold for helping them. ... " He thinks for a second. " Well actually 80;" then whispers to himself, " 100 minus the 10, I gave them and the 10 I got for telling them to go.... "his voice trails off and he looks up." Well, ask for you 80 gold when you are in Bryn Shander."
"I have made arrangements for the travel. You got furs and cold weather gear in your rooms and 10 gold pieces in your pockets. Dogs are ready and the dwarves are waiting for you tomorrow in the morn."
He makes to move but a look from the bartender stops him.
" Ho yes? paying."
As the group moves out of the tavern and into the cold they can see that the village is rather small. Several houses, a blacksmith, and what seems to be a large shop with no sign nor name.
Just at the edge of the village, to the north, a man is tending to the sledge and the dogs that will probably take you over the Spine of the World. Three more sledges are lumbered with crats. Two dwarves are huddled under furs and look in askance at any approaching.
Spoilers for all:
The shop as only common items and a few uncommon one ( Roll a D10 available on 9 and 10 ). Weather gear and ten golds are in your respective rooms. The innkeeper takes a carefull watch of who goes up.
Still didn´t get his name Tylaerys thinks to herself smiling, but as this business is just about getting to Icewind dale she lets it go.
As they leave the large shop Tylaerys turns to the others. "About the Battlehammer dwarves we are to protect on our trip to BrynShander, I had the fortune to travel with them here all the way from the Silver marches. They are hailing from Mithral hall and are going to their cousins in Kelvins cairn i guess." Tylaerys then walks over to the two dwarves by the sleds. "I heard I am now supposed to protect you on your way to Bryn Shander, me and about seven very competent adventurers I just met at the tavern. You´re journey there should be a safe one having both Oghma, Azuth and Mystra watching over their flock. Just tell us when you are ready to leave."
(I guess Tylaerys would know the names of the dwarves?)
(I guess Tylaerys would know the names of the dwarves?)
Darn Dunstone and Chess Darksteel are both of the Batllehammer clan. They are young and eager. The one leading the caravan is called Mantle Fireforge and there is also a young dwarven maiden but you don't know her.
Spoiler for Tylaerys.
For the group
Really loved the banter and the mood you have set thanks a whole lot, guys and girls.
Kane walks over with Tylaerys and shakes hands with the dwarves. “We will do our best to protect you during your travels. Do you need any help with anything?” Kane also pets any dogs that will allow him to do so.
"You do not know me, yet you call me very competent." Aster lumbers close behind Tylaerys, being the half-elf the only person that decided to talk to them at all. Strange how she seems to be the group's catalyst so early on... Not that they mind. She is nice to have around.
They fumble again with their splints, adjusting them to walking on snow while following "Not very logical, but I know my way around."
"Kane and Aster, meet Darn Dunstone and Chess Darksteel. Well, as I said, just say when you want to leave, otherwise we will see you in the morning." Tylaerys says and heads for the tavern. "Well Aster, I admit that I don´t know you that well yet and I might have exaggerated a bit, but I see no harm in reassuring the anxious dwarves of a safe journey to Icewind dale, do you?" She smiles at Aster. "And I´m fairly sure I will be right in my assumption of your competence Aster."
Allyn approaches the dwarves with the others and introduces himself “Good day, Master Dwarves, I am Allyn and I am at your service for a safe and speedy journey”
Walking back to the inn, Allyn whispers to Tylaerys and the others “Yes, no harm in reassuring them of a safe journey, and our companions look capable." He looks at Aster "It is only lies if you believe it to be untrue, do you doubt a safe journey? But I do share some concerns - what are we protecting them from? It appears we are pawns in a game between gods now, much is uncertain”
Tylaerys nods at Allyn. "I suppose that the definition of a lie would to some extent be a matter of opinion but I would argue that there is a grey area between truths and lies. As a courtier I would operate there on a daily basis I´m afraid. I hope you won´t be offended by this approach to life Aster. I can assure you it could help us overcome many obstacles on our journey." a brief pause "And for the record I consider myself a willing and loyal servant of the Lady of mysteries and not a pawn."She smiles at Allyn. "But I agree to your second point, much is indeed uncertain, you might even say mysterious."
Kane remains quiet when the groups begins talking about pawns and the wills of the gods, because he honestly doesn’t care. He just wants to find his mom. While Tylaerys and Allyn talk, Kane sits in the snow and pets one of the dogs, making him feel warm.
“Fair point, my lady” Allyn replies with a grin and a little bow “No disrespect intended, I assure you. Just as I am a loyal servant of the Lord of Knowledge.”
Almarath: The old wizard emerges from his rooms much more put together than the previous evening. Hair combed beneath a floppy red hat, he bounces jovially down the stairs in his matching red winter robes.
He leans heavily on his staff as he walks, but you get the impression this is out of habit and laziness, as the old man seems rather spry for his age. He says to the gathered group, "I have made penance to Oghma through rigorous self-flagellation. It seems this is the expedition party I was expecting after all. I look forward to discovering wonders with you!"
The larger of the two dwarves moves forward to clasp hands in the warrior's manner. He turns to his companion who slinks in the back.
"Darn it you need to be more social Chess." though he admonishes there is warmth in his voice. It is like it's an old debate between the two of them.
Chess answers in a raspy voice; " Well met and sorry for my behavior."in a tone not at all apologetic; " My burly battle brother here thinks everyone should be a friend but I don't share his views. Life has taught me to judge people on their deeds."
Darn waves his words off. " Don't mind him. We are happy to have a few more blades with us. Be ready early tomorrow."
For Tylaerys
The Darksteel are a Duergar family who have turned from their evil ways. They are the runemasters of the dwarven clan. Magic users in a race that shuns it,they have a hard time getting along with others.

Darn puts up a good front but they are very happy to have you come along. They seem to be in a hurry to leave too.
Quip looks to Almarath with a slight chuckle "Flagellation" she shakes her head and laughs a short spell before composting herself. With a smile she shifts over to the wizard and opens her songbook (with the emblem of Oghma) turns to a blank page and produces a piece of charcoal for writing "Prayer" she says and looks on expectantly

After returning to the tavern Tylaerys has a reasonable dinner that gets a little help in the flavor department, courtesy of Mystra, while continuing the discussions of the mission and the visions with the others. She is grateful for a warm bed after the long and ardous journey from Silverymoon and after a hot morning bath she gracefully descends the stairs joining the others for breakfast. As Almarath comes down she turns to him. "I didn´t know Oghmaites practiced self-flagellation. Is it perhaps something exclusive to Candlekeep?" A brief pause. "But where are my manners, I don´t think I properly introduced myself yesterday. I am Tylaerys Silverflame, a faithful servant of Mystra, from Silverymoon. I am glad to see you are feeling better, perhaps a good nights sleep contributed to that fact." Tylaerys says smiling in the morning sun coming through one of the small windows."
(Insight on the dwarves the day before:20) "I got the sense yesterday the dwarves are in a hurry to leave, let´s not keep them waiting." Tylaerys finishes up her breakfast, puts on her fur coat, grabs her staff and pack and leaves for the sledges. "Another thing, one of the dwarves, Chess Darksteel is actually a Duergar, but his clan has turned from their evil ways, so not to worry, but he is not the most social dwarf you would have met."

Allyn enjoys a nice breakfast with the others, blissfully unaware of any hidden meaning in his conversation with the dwarves from last night. He absent-mindedly fidgets with his lute as he and his companions gather their gear and prepare for the travel ahead, keeping his thoughts about the trip to himself for now.
"Silverymoon?" Quip pipes up, she points to herself beaming "SILVERYMOON!" She pulls out a letter, signed by one Fredegar Rockcrusher, and shows the seal of Silverymoon next to the signature
