I am a fairly experienced DM who has run multiple games before, but this is my first try at running a PbP campaign.
I'm looking for 3-5 players who can usually post 1-2 times a day. Just for reference, my time zone is PST (GMT-8), so I will probably be posting most during what will be night for me. This campaign will include plenty of combat, but it will contain a lot of roleplaying so players who are willing to roleplay well are appreciated.

Character Applications
If you are interested in the campaign, simply put your application in this thread.
Character creation parameters and notes: Characters start at Level 3, but there will be no multiclassing until at least Level 5 is reached. You can roll stats in this thread, but also feel free to use point buy or standard array, just make sure to specify if that's what you'll be doing. You can use any race included in DnD Beyond, but only the standard classes (no Blood Hunter or Artificer).
Please submit the character applications in a similar format to what is shown below:
Character Name: Race: Class: Short Backstory: (max. of 2 paragraphs) Stats: (include method or roll stats here) Character Sheet: (please include link)
Depending on how many I receive, I will probably leave recruitment open for a day or so. I am planning to start the campaign on July 9th. Before then, I will make an Out of Character group PM with everyone who was accepted, and discuss some more details about how the campaign will be run (combat, how the campaign will be divided, some simple house rules, and perhaps some world backstory as well). I will announce the character and player selections in this thread as well, but I will make a separate thread for the actual gameplay.
Let me know if I didn't include anything or if you have any questions. Thank you.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
I will submit my application here. Working on it at the moment. I have the background in mind but need to write it down here.

Character Name: Darathan“The Bloody Bard” Race: Half-elf or maybe V human Class: Fighter (Battlemaster)
Short Backstory: (Skeletal framework) Darathan never knew his parents. He grew up a slave and can’t remember a life before that. As he grew, he was found to be quicker and stronger than his peers and was quickly pulled from manual labor for gladiatorial training. He was taught combat and was sold into the gladiator pits where he thrived. His quickness of mind, body, and tongue kept him alive.!
His skills grew and his need for love from a parent was replaced in part by the love of the crowd. He enjoyed performing in front of them and would play a flute over the bodies of his defeated foes earning the nickname “The bloody bard.” In time he earned enough fame, glory, skill, and money to secure his freedom from slavery but continued to fight for the love of the crowd and traveled from town to town earning money from exhibition matches. Character Name: Cyrillus Vaeden Race: Human, Variant Class: Ranger (Monster Slayer) Short Backstory: Cyrillus was raised by his parents a ways outside of civilization. His parents were hunters and his only real interaction with other people was when they went into town. In his late teens, he discovered that his parents were members of a draconic cult (and he realized that he had been being raised to be the same). Shortly after that, he ran away from his home and went through multiple cities. While hunting outside a city he found a small amulet with holy symbol on it. She was rescued from the streets by a kind scholar, who took pity on her when she tried to steal food from a street vendor.

Character Name: Alasse Race: High Elf Class: Spirit Bard Short Backstory: Alasse grew up as part of a tiny tribe hidden in a mountain valley. There she was the caretaker of an ancient forgotten shrine. The being the shrine was built to contain has been imprisoned since the dawn of civilization. Although it's original name has long since passed into oblivion, the shrine remains. The ancient being no longer cares if it is ever freed or truly worshiped, it simply wishes to not be forgotten entirely and is content to sleep until the world freezes over.
Alasse tended the shrine and the cemetery around it. As gloomy a place as it was, she found a certain beauty in it and would often sit and sing. The ancient being noticed and grew fond of her music. In return for her playing, it would share tales of long ago, of heroes and villains of times long past. As it told her the stories, Alasse could see the spirits of the tales around her. Dead but not forgotten. The ancient being could feel the growing tensions in the world and told Alasse that should she leave, she could share these tales and give the spirits and the being new life. It only asked that she return to it with a few new stories.
I left as much of the backstory vague as I could as I don't know anything of the ancient history of your world. If anything doesn't fit I can rework it with you to fit better.

Character Name: Amity
Race: Eladrin
Class: Sorcerer (Wild Magic)
Short Backstory: Amity comes from a small village in the Feywild. Being born with magic was common in this town, so it came as no surprise when she started displaying strange abilities as a child. The community fostered these talents, training her alongside the others her age with similar powers. When she became older, it became clear that she was a natural leader, and the high council of the village selected her as their newest member. However, before taking up her position, it was traditional that she go on a pilgrimage to the Material Plane, a journey of self-discovery.
Nobody had left on one of these pilgrimages for centuries, and suffice it to say, the world had changed since then. With chaos running rampant and a cult-like group threatening the continent, Amity wondered if she should just give up and go home. After careful consideration, though, she decided to stay and see what she could make of herself despite the disarray around her. For the past couple months, she's been wandering and taking mercenary work, trying to figure out what destiny has in store...
Character Name: Celeste Race: Elf (Eladrin) Class: Warlock (Archfey)
Short Backstory: Celeste grew up in a family of Wizards. She was never very talented as a wizard so instead of studying, she would sometimes lose herself in the forest outside of the family manner. One day she was approached by a whimsical being in the guise of an Elf. The being claimed to have noticed her struggle with her wizardly studies and offered to help. Recognizing the being as some sort of fey creature and knowing better than to enter into any accord with such a being, she politely refused and went along her way.
A few weeks later, she was once again in the forest when she discovered her young brother had followed her out of the manner and had become enthralled by the same fey creature. As he was only 12, he did not know any better and had unwittingly accepted the creature’s offer of “help.” Realizing what had happened, Celeste offered to take on her brothers contract to save him from indenture. The contact has not been so bad as of yet, but as her power continues to grow, so does the anxiety she feels, waiting for the day that her fey patron comes to cash in on its side of the bargain. He lived alone for a time, hiding and trying to survive the wilderness while the voice wore away at his resolve. After a while, he couldn't stand it anymore and joined up with some adventurers who hoped to use him, then kill him and take his share of the loot. It didn't work out for them, as his inborn magic and his rage protected him well enough to take them down. Character Name: Krummir Hammerstone Race: Hill Dwarf Class: Cleric - Knowledge Short Backstory:
Krummir was a bandit, assisting a gang of thieves in robbing treasures in transit. Krummir has many skills, like finding transportation schedules, opening locked chests, identifying magical wards, or assessing the value of the loot. Krummir’s talents were honed in a hidden temple to Gilean, and offers worship by bringing any books he steals back to the priests. Sometimes they ask for more specific work.
More recently, he’s looking for a new gang. This dragon cult is gathering heaps of valuables for their dragon god, and Krummir sees the opportunity to get rich. Character Name: Obb Race: Grung Class: Barbarian Short Backstory:
Obb loves bugs, they taste truly deliectable to his highly developed palette. His home was a haven for all sorts of tasty morsels, a lush quagmire at the base of a mountain range, and their clan managed to share the area with the wildlife in a truly harmonious balance. They had little to do with the outside world, so when those dry-skins started showing up most of the clan paid them little heed and continued on as normal. More and more of the tall pink coloured things started to arrive, they took to living in the caves, building things and lighting fires that burned forever. Strange markings of flying lizards were painted on the rock, and odd chanting could be heard from the belly of the mountain.
A large contingent of the clan, including several elders went to confront these intruders about their misdoings; none of those who ventured forth returned to the clan. The remaining elders decided that they must learn more, and entrusted a mission to the savviest members of the clan - Seek out allies against these stange invaders, and return to save the world as they knew it. Now, Obb knew that the best bugs always came from the cave grottos at the base of the mountains, and the loss of those bugs made Obb veritably incandescent with rage. When the chosen few departed, Obb decided he would set off in search of aid, or somewhere else that he could find equally tasty bugs - that was the most important part of this problem after all.

Character Name: Lord Darcio Heartshade Race: Human (variant) Class: Warlock (Fiend) Short Backstory:
Darcio grew up in decadence, sheltered from the violent wars of Torakas, but eventually the conflict reached the doorstep of his familys estate. "You must restore law and order to the realm my son, whatever the cost, promise me this." The last words of his beloved mother before she sent him away in the night carrying a secret family heirloom, a sinister rod with infernal markings. The rod soon brought Darcio into a pact with an entity that shared his view on law and order. Since that fateful night Darcio has travelled Torakas in search for like-minded people to bring order to the realm.
Short Backstory: My mate and her egg were stolen by a reptilian snake god (explicita defilus). She was defeated, now I will rid the world of her kind and any abomination that dwells in hiding under the earth , perverting the justice of natural Order(prey versus predator, sky versus the vermin that crawl beneath it on the ground, or worse, below it....).
I believe in freedom and will fight alongside all that share my view , and against any who seek to stand against it. I'm a little cagey if I have to go below ground or anywhere where I can't see the open sky before me.

Character Name: Brilyn Race: Elf (Eladrin) Class: Rogue (Mastermind) Short Backstory:
Brilyn works in a group hired by cities to find the head of criminal organizations. Often working in the shadows trying to find clues and leads to fulfill their contracts. She takes pride in learning about thugs and being able to determine their next moves. Reveling the thought of seeing these criminals faces when they are discovered. But to wrap up her missions isnt always easy, she is glad to be working with others when the only solution is blood.
Though she enjoys tracking these thugs she encounters more and more cities simply overrun with crime, a disturbing idea. Something that took its toll in the last few years. She has now set her sights on something bigger, a cult that is rapidly spreading. Setting a goal to root out this evil she hopes to turn the tide and restore a balance that is now nothing more than a memory.
Character Name: Tomtarrin Brassbasket Race: Halfling (Stout) Class: Paladin (Oath of the Crown) Short Backstory: Tomtarrin has been a city guard in [insert medium/large town here] for most of his life. He had a slow climb through the ranks; his officers always said he was brave, good in a fight, and his heart was in the right place, but he simply made a better patrolman than an officer. What they specifically weren't saying was that Tomtarrin is just a little slow. But eventually he found a good equilibrium as a sergeant, thanks to his decades of experience.
The last 10 years have been crazy in [town] and are getting crazier. A few months ago, Tomtarrin and his partner (guard partner, not romantic) Dalia were investigating a report of some strange lights and noises coming form an old warehouse in the dock district. The next day, Tomtarrin was late for work. Some guards went to his house and found him cowering in a room with all the lamps lit. He still won't say what happened that night, just that he was only alive thanks to Dalia's sacrifice. The next day, Tomtarrin resigned from his post and made an oath to [insert his god here] that he would bring back order to this world or die trying. Paladin - warforged - orange
Character Name: Obb
Race: Grung
Class: Barbarian
Short Backstory:

Character Name: Tomtarrin Brassbasket
Race: Halfling (Stout)
Class: Paladin (Oath of the Crown)
Short Backstory: Tomtarrin has been a city guard in [insert medium/large town here] for most of his life.
