Urzhol's hand had already strayed down to the head of her raider's axe, fingers itching for the feel of the worn wood and leather as she stared warily out at the creature. Feelings intruded in her thoughts, clearly foreign, somehow 'sounding' as if they came from the monster. The orc's scowl deepened and her fingers tightened for a few ominous moments on her blade...then her other hand came up and itched at the back of her skull again. "Fukkin' worrywort...fine," she muttered, releasing her blade and simply crossing her arms, eyes shimmering with a brief, faint golden glow as she regarded the approaching flying-whatsit.
Barkas pauses as he sees the behavior of the tiny dragon and hears Yasheira call out. He remains vigilant as he watches the approach. Barkas shouts out at the tiny dragon, "What are your intentions? What is the matter, what is happening?"
Seeing some of the crew readying their weapons at the creature’s approach, Mica grabs his longbow. Yasheria’s call causes him to pause before knocking an arrow and he feels a strange mixture of emotions force their way into his mind.
“I don’t know how, but I feel that the beast is afraid.”
He keeps his longbow ready and watches the beast warily, trying to gauge its intent. Is it friend or foe? Insight 15
As Yasheria calls that out and the crew also feel the emotions they pause long enough for the creature to clumsily land on the deck of the ship. The small dragon, only as big as a cat, looks around and you feel a feeling of relief come from it. You all suddenly see flashes of images in your head. Jagged rock out crops. Howling winds. Towers on small islands. Splintering wood. Blood and teeth in the water. The last and most poignant image is of a blonde half-elven woman screaming something at you from a ship. You all have a feeling of fear and desperation at that image. As the images fade you feel fear, terror, rescue, and desperation come from the dragon.
Mica, you get the feeling the creature both doesn't belong out here and it was looking for help.
Seeing the images being sent out he cannot help feel the creature is sad and suffering. He steps forward Creature sad, Grahl can put it out of misery. Maybe eat something other than fish now.
He starts taking out his handaxe and walks over to the creature. No worry, Grahl make hurting stop.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"NO, WAIT!" Yasheira yells out and rushes over to put herself between Grahl and the tiny dragon. "It´s not aggressive, we should try to help it. And not by killing it Grahl." She says a bit scolding to the mighy half-orc. She then tries to reach back to the dragon, communicating empathically if possible. "We wish you no harm. You are safe here. How can we help you?" Persuasion to calm the dragon down and make it communicate: 25 rolled with advantage in case anyone backs her up with this, otherwise go with first roll.
Barkas holds his hand out and shouts “Stop!” to Grahl. He walks over and gently taps him on the shoulder, urging him to put his weapon away. “This is not the way.”
He walks over to the tiny dragon and sits down on the deck, begins opening his pack. “Now I see, when the Dragon was crossing paths with The Traveller in the northern sky a month ago. Didn’t know what the hell it meant then, but I do now.”
He pulls out half of a ration, holds it out to the dragon, feeding the little guy. “Those images, that elven lady, is she still alive? Can you take us to her? Eat up little guy. We’ve got to figure out your name…”. Barkas looks on the dragon like a creature that he is rescuing in the woods, a project to be understood and helped.
Barkas helps Yasheira calm down the frightened tiny dragon and coax more information from it, let’s it know that we will not harm it.
Urzhol made no real move, aggressive or otherwise. This was well beyond her expertise and she knew it. She stood by, arms crossed, and watched the others try to sort out the tiny dragon-thing's emotional trauma. Instead, she focused on the images she'd received from the creature, coming through them for signs of threat. Trying to identify what the teeth had been attached to in the images of blood and teeth, searching for signs in the images of airborne threats or something that might be coming in pursuit of their escaped prey.
{No idea what check you'd want that to be, if any, Kazuha. Lemme know and I'll throw it.}
The dragon flashes the image of the elven lady again. It then hops on the rail of the ship and points out towards the direction it flew from. Captain Ortimay pulls out her spyglass. "Aye, there be some rocks in that direction it looks like."
{...that's incredibly bizarre. The die rolls are changing on me as I refresh the page to try and get it to display right...anybody else seeing that? Perc stays at 5, but Nature keeps jumping around.}
Let's try this because neither of those rolls are reporting remotely correct to me and they keep flickering. Apologies, everyone. The friggin' in-post roller never stops giving me guff...
You didn't get a good look at what was in the water other than some fast moving grey shapes. The images aren't very focused on what was in the water, the teeth are bigger than makes sense for whatever was in the water. It makes you think the little dragon may have enlarged the teeth in it's mind when relaying the images.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Captain Ortimay, someone over there is in need of our rescue, probably the master of this dragon. We have an obligation to help them...and I´m sure they will be very grateful to whoever sends their ship to the rescue." Yasheira says to the captain pleadingly. Persuasion: 22 rolled with advantage in case anyone backs her up with this, otherwise go with first roll.
Barkas looks up at the Captain and says "We had a vision, did you see it as well? An elvish lady in distress, that way." He points in the direction the tiny pseudodragon indicated. "I think that we are meant to help her. If you didn't see those images, come here and speak with this tiny dragon here. I don't think this is the goat scrotum ale kicking me in the head, we all saw it." I hope our ship doesn't get smashed up like hers did. He says to himself.
Seeing the others shout and run to stop Grahl he lowers his axe again and shrugs. Grahl just try to help baby dragon.
Hearing they might be rescuing someone who's ship crashed into rocks sounds good. Maybe find land and get off this ship.
Having said that Grahl puts his axe back in the beltloop and makes sure hes near something to hold onto. Just in case the captain intends to make some sharp turns.
Mica moves to the railing next to Captain Ortimay, squinting and trying to make out the rocks that she saw in the distance, but without the spyglass it was useless. “The creature sends images of islands with towers and jagged rocks. Does that sound familiar? Do you think we can approach safely? If there was a wreck of some sort we should look for survivors”
"Aye, the sailors creed says we should help. Though I don't fancy taking my ship into those rocks. We do have some smaller boats we can lower for you though." She begins to steer the ship towards the rocks in the distance. Tall spires of stone rise up from the ocean ahead of you. You see some towers on the larger spires farther back. The towers appear to mostly be in ruins, relics of a time far past.
Barkas walks up to the edge, stands beside the tiny dragon, picking it up if needed. "Where do we go, do you recognize this? Lead us to where she is..." He casts goodberry, producing 10 berries, feeds one to the small dragon and puts the rest in his pouch at his belt.
The dragons eagerly eats the berry and hops on your shoulder. It then points in the direction of the stones with it's snout and watches. You get a feeling of relief and concern coming from it.
"Yes, we could take one of your smaller boats and go ashore to investigate. I´m sure Barkas will come along and I think Mica, Grahl and Urzhol wouldn´t mind walking on solid ground for a change." Yasheira says to Captain Ortimay and the others, preparing herself to leave the ship. "Try to get as close as you can before anchoring and setting the boat down." She adds looking at the captain. "Are you all coming?" she then says looking to the others, smiling widely.
