Stilben is a shady city built around the Bay of K'Tawl on the shore of the Lucidian Ocean. Surrounded by a sprawling marshland, the air is usually sticky, humid, and uncomfortably warm. The ever-present sound of insects buzzing and distant bird calls mingle with the constant din of creaking wood, grumbling voices, and beasts-of-burden carrying cargo from the docks to the tradelines. Money flowed here primarily through a strong textile trade, a dynamic black market (influenced heavily by what ships arrive at port), and a loosely-kept set of laws that could be briefly "purchased" should they stand in someone's (or someone's business's) way. The social atmosphere is relaxed, the nightlife fairly lively, and there is enough work to go around... especially mercenary work.
Your party met on the road from Westruun. You've gotten into a few scrapes but banding together your new party has successfully navigated the dangerous terrain from Westruun into the K'Twal swamp with only two days left to reach Stilben, your final destination for whatever purpose, public or private, you have for seeking out such a place. Settling into s campsite on higher ground in the swamp you begin to prepare a meal.
Remath would quickly lay down is bed roll near the fire, then patrol the edge of the camp, looking for signs of other travelers, dangers, and game tracks. All the while pretending to create a distance between himself and the others, whilst actually trying to see how they are reacting to his activities.

Atask, places down his pack and unravels his bedroll. He props up next to a nearby tree forming a seat with his bedroll. He takes out a small wooden board and rolls a pair of dice to see the outcome. 11
he chuckles a bit amused by the roll, "Look's like fate is favoring my luck tonight.... I'm happy to take the first watch tonight. Uhh Remath, don't stray too far, but if you find any edible goodies bring them back so we can get cooking."
he places his sword on his side directly next to his shield so that they may be quickly accessible.
Quin sets his pack down and begins to gather some wood for the campfire. While he is gathering the wood, he will keep an eye out for any edible plants that he might spot that can be added to their meal for the night. [skill]nature[/nature] 9 . As he roams about the area in the immediate vicinity, the halfling will whistle a tune quietly.
Remath finds the swamp, like much of their trek in, for the past two days is still unforgiving. The terrain is murky and treacherous with bog masquerading as solid ground. He easily navigates it however finding a few turtles and a skinny rabbit for food. As for animal tracks the ground is far too super saturated to hold a shape for long before absorbing into the muck.
Quinn finds nothing edible around camp.
OOC: Setting up a fire? Anyone feel like playing chef? Give me a survival check for fire/cooking.

Will he see's the other two exploring their surrondings and foraging for food. Atask will stand up from his brief rest and being working on the fire. "Hmmm how does this go again?" he gestures as he begins trying to light a bundle of sticks. Survival: 5
"This might not be my strength.. I guess you can't take the city out of the boy too quickly haha." he chuckles somewhat embarrassed as he continues to try to create flame. Sticks falls down and probably a little too wet to get going. He proceeds with determination unless someone is willing to assist.

Seeing Atask having trouble lighting the fire, Quinn will head over to give him a hand survival18.
If he manages to get the fire started, the young halfling will start cooking the critters that Remath snared. Turning to the half-elf, Quinn will say "Thanks for killing these critters. It definitely makes for a better meal than the jerky and dried fruit. Perhaps we should try to find some spice when we get to town. It will definitely make our meals a little more appetizing."
Remath blushed slightly at the praise. "Spices, for sure, whatever you guys say. Hunting is the easy part for sure." He joins the others at the fireside. "Have you guys been to this Stilben before? What should we be expecting? And what kind of work will we find?" he looks eagerly towards the rest of the party

Atask sits by the fire relieve that Quinn was so adept in the skill. He turns to Remath nodding in affirmation "I've been a few times, usually acting as a body guard here and there. I'm not the most familiar though its a fun time if you enjoy a lively night life.... it can be a bit sketchy at times too, but work seemed to be pretty common for mercs like myself. As long as you're okay with getting your hands a little dirty, there shouldn't be a problem." he smiles leaning back a bit, stretching his muscles.
"Never been this far south. Westruun is the first city I've ever been to. I'm excited to see how Stilben compares with Westruun, and, wonder what kind of food they serve there."
“We’re in a swamp my friend. I’m sure we’ll be eating whatever grows and lives here. Alligator is delicious in my opinion. Laws are pretty loose in Stillben too so we should be on guard and ready for a scuffle.”
As the party successfully starts a fire and set up camp night begins to push in. The swamp is loud with nature by day. The constant buzzing of insects and hooping of birds as well as other creatures is ever present. Now however with night upon the party there's an odd silence. As if the night brings something else to the K'twal swamp as if the creatures around the party are holding their breath.
OOC: Plenty of options moving forward. More RP or checks to the surrounds. I'll speed things up ny saying you've successfully caught supper and whomever would like to describe what's cooking can do so!!

"So uhh the lady of the house doesn't let me anywhere near the kitchen hehe, says I'm better off trying to skewer a hydra with a spatula than making anything edible.. either of you good cooks?" he leans back and will keep watch while dinner is being made. Perception: 7
Quinn will say "In our monastery, we were all expected to take our turn helping out the cook. I'll see what I can do with these critters." The halfling will roast the rabbit over the fire, while using a leather bag suspended over the fire to make a turtle soup. He'll add some of his dried fruit to the soup to give it some additional flavoring.
Quinn makes hearty meal and the party tucks in to eat. Dinner passes uneventfully as the noise begins to rise again around the party from the swamp. The loud song of a night jar and the sluggish movement of something through the watery passages nearby
The swamp is pressing in again reminding the party they do not belong here.
Quinn in the near distance you spot an orb floating towards your party's path through the swamp. It's bobbing in and out of cover looks like the size of a summer melon made of glowing blue light. At first it's alone then several being to fill the distance, 75ft away, from the party filling the trail the party made through the swamp!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Quinn will point out the glowing orbs to his two companions, asking "Have you ever seen or heard of anything like that? Do we need to be worried about those?"
