Grianne explains to Eldin The combat is like the hunt. Knowing what is too far outside my immediate surroundings is not important. Grianne shivers slightly. I was in the moment.

Grianne Wildpaw: Wood Elf Druid level 12 (8W-4L)- - Coliseum of Conquest: Master of Faerie Fire. Just don't ask her to spell it.
Grianne Wildpaw: Wood Elf Druid level 6 (2W-1L)- - Coliseum Reborn : Master of a Myriad of forms.
Runt, the Stormchosen: Half-Orc barbarian level 5 -- The Guild
Eldin says partly to make Grianne feel a bit better about herself, "Well, that kinda explains why you're so good in combat. Speaking of which, how are your powers coming along? I seem to have been gifted with a different set of spells and powers by my god."
(The next battle will start very soon, I presume I'll be able to start it today... Of course I thought I'd have been there 4 days ago too, but both of the current matches stalled.)

In the medical facilities on campus Daisy sits up suddenly in her bed. "It's begun..." she whispers.
As students and teachers of the academy observe the battles taking place around the ruins of Sel'eman, several observers gasp in surprise while watching the level-6 match advance through the third round...
A group of autonomous monsters invade the battle, as expected, as part of the battle conditions, however these foes strike out against the watching fans rather than concentrating their efforts on the combatants. The scene turns to chaos as yet more enemies appear. Some of the observers take up arms to defend themselves and others. At once those watching from the academy are confronted by the sounds of yet more disruptions in the halls and grounds nearby...
Those not currently locked in battle have had an opportunity to rest since the last matches have come to an end.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Banjo Man rummaged through his backpack and came to a realization: he didn't have much money to his name; his funds were little more than pocket change, barely worth more than a political promise.
It was time to acquire some coin in the most non-life-threatening way he knew of: playing the banjo. Well, either that or he'd go fight in the arena, but playing for change was a much more immediate benefit. With that plan formed, Banjo Man hit the street and stood by a corner, throwing down his straw hat upon the ground before striking up a rousing, fast-paced tune.
Olly stopped her playing to listen to a distant song of the banjo. The Satyr, for all of fascination with it however, gets almost immediately sidetracked by people rushing this way and that complaining about constructs going mad.
"A mass panic and I'm not the cause? How dare they!? Oh, I'll show those tin heads yet!"
She speeds off for the arena where the battle is thickest!

The competitors enter the battlefield. There is still some commotion nearby as people carry the girl who fell from the sky, back toward the school, yet the competitors here are focused on the battle ahead.

Sha'kar Menoth, the bold blue bastion
...
Once everyone is in place the now familiar weathered voice calls out, marking the begining of the match. "Five... Four... ... Begin!" ...
Ori'ck is an imposing figure, standing nearly eight feet tall and covered in so many scars and tattoos it's almost impossible to find any un-touched part of his light grey skin. he carries a large maul at all times, with a morning star on his hip, a shield on his back alongside a specially made "quiver" that carries javelins. He dresses simply, in either easy to replace rags or stout travelling clothes designed to take a beating. The only "glamorous" item he wears is a fine golden circlet that holds with a large well-cut ruby. He rarely speaks, and when he does it is always short. The only interaction he tends to have with others is card games, even though he doesn't get overly chatty with the other players, they seem to bring him some sort of joy.
(I'll post shortly. I'm writing the update now. If you wish to DM read (and understand) the instructions in the Aftermath thread. It may be wise to do so after you've had some experience in the arena.)
As this community grows again we will benefit from additional DMs. If you feel you are up to the challenge instructions and discussion of the process can be found in The Aftermath:
