Raising his hand to speak in answer to Brados Quiera's offer, Hansel says:Perhaps the most difficult question of all is "how do we get there?" Travelling to an undersea trench is no small feat, not to mention the means of moving and breathing effectively while there. Do you have anything that can assist in these things?

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
They bus girl eyes the pretty man with a frown, but it seemed impossible not to like his positive attitude. She eyed the turtle woman. Did she breath underwater? She didn't know much about tortles. Thinking about everything that was happening, the bus girl followed along meekly behind the others, trying to stay behind bodies and generally out of sight. She waited for the others to speak to this bombastic self-interested merchant, but the requests were obvious. If they were to battle the sahuagin on their home turf, they'd need to be able to breath and move under water freely. A potion to temporarily grant breathing wouldn't be enough. She considered her primary method of attack....her crossbow. Unless there's an underground kingdom in a pocket of air, it would be useless. An appropriate weapon with some magic would be necessary as well. She waited for the others to speak, but then would add both of those thoughts, if they hadn't already been mentioned.
"But... I don't know." Brados looked at Kalis and blinked several times. "I thought you can just, you know," he made a gesture as if dropping something, "get overboard and dive?" The man looked at the young definition of perfection in front of him with hope in his eyes, but slowly the realization of all the difficulties caught up with him. "But I see your point..." He rubbed his forehead. "But of course! Please forgive me, the news ... When it came I thought it's a bad joke. Then it turned out to be true! I simply lost my mind. Please, allow me..." Brados rang a bel and a well-dressed (and well-trained) servant appeared at the door as if conjured from a thin air. "Bring the brass helmet, Tomer."
The servant disappeared as instantly and quietly only to return moments later with a peculiar helmet in his hands, completely opened on the front side. Brados took it from the servant's hands and proudly presented it to the company. The merchant was obviously recovering from the shock. "Amazing thing! You see, sometimes ships get sunk. To save the cargo you would obviously need to go down for it. And you can not imagine how much the sea elves ask for every pound of saved goods! Robbers, pure robbers! Mark my words, half of them are pirates snd sink ships on purpose! So you see, you need to send someone you trust down there and these people, sadly, not always can breathe underwater." You could tell the merchant is truly sad about the unperfect nature of most of the hired hands. "Yet, nothing can stop one determined! I ordered these magnificent things. Had ten of them, sadly now there are only nine. One worker got eaten by the shark and the helmet was lost. People can be unbelievably careless with someone's property!" Brados sighed. "Anyway, one wearing that helmet can both breath underwater and see in darkness! Even better - one can swim like a sea elf! Amazing thing, simply amazing. And I will give it to you. For the expedition." He carefully, like precious glass, handed the helmet over to Hansel.
Trudie would perk at the ease in which her new companion would agree to carry her, should her old bones ache, or she's feeling particularly lazy. What a doll.
"And here I was more concerned about the underwater ecosystems that were disturbed..." Nan would muse passively outloud during the discussion on the sinking islands significance and importance.
The old woman would look quite thoughtful throughout the whole process, or was that just her resting face? She had a few things up her sleeves that could assist with being under water, but nothing as permanent or potentially full proof as the fancy helmet being presented. Should one of the helmets fail or get lost, Trudie would have some back up. She'd be sure to nap meditate prior to their arrival to ensure she remembers her spells, and the right ones at that. "I'll accept your fancy breathing bucket." She'd nod.
Having noticed Hansel's 'subtle' love of all things beautiful, the old tortle would make a flourishing gesture with her hand, opening it up reveal a flower. She'd offer it to the young cleric with a smile. Something to distract him from the helmet if he didn't like the design.
"The helments will be useful." Davis says, glancing to the single one brought out so far. "As long as you plan on lending us each one of them..." He leaves this hanging for a bit, then continues. "We also will be needing some weapons, especially for those of us who tend to use more ranged weapons, as crossbows and longbows will be almost useless under water." He clearly does not mean himself in this group, as his weapons are all the thrown or up-close melee sort. His eyes flick back to the helmet. "Will that allow me to swim with my armor on? Adamantine is fairly heavy you see, and I'd hate to simply sink to the bottom and be unable to move effectively. If it will not aid with that, then some other armors might be needful as well."
(Afaik, crossbows do work underwater: A ranged weapon attack automatically misses a target beyond the weapon's normal range. Even against a target within normal range, the attack roll has a disadvantage unless the weapon is a crossbow, a net, or a weapon that is thrown like a javelin (including a spear, trident, or dart).
Brados nodded quite importantly to the first question. For a moment his eyes stopped at Trudie's head, though, to his credits, it was a pure look of an outfitter as if "will that fit" and he nodded once again. The second question, though, made him shook his head. "I was hoping the... fighting aspect will be covered by you? As of armour... Have to confess, it never crossed anyone's mind to armour our workers. Not in local traditions, you see. I would suppose it does work? Would definitely help you sink."
The bus girl reconsiders her crossbow as her eyes slide along the members of the group. Out loud she says, "Such a helmet should be sufficient to allow me to do the job."

"Seems like the helmet aids in what we need most." Davis agrees with a nod. "If you can spare some potions of healing, to aid us as we do this fighting, then I think I am content to get started."
Yusko waits and listens. His face without expression and then he shrugs. "The helmets sound fine... I do have some items that would be helpful in an emergency. Like something to help one breath underwater. That and healing supplies but to be truthful I've never used them underwater... still swimming will be good exercise. Yay?"
Hansel does indeed look a little dismayed at the helm. Not that they were that ugly - in fact they looked pretty well-made - but rather that the only solution to the underwater dilemma would involve covering his head and much of his face. He sighs forlornly, but brightens considerably as Trudie offers the flower, which he promptly tucks behind one ear with a grateful smile.
Hansel is ready to depart as soon as they have had some rest and refreshment. (Long rest?)

The quiet bus girl quietly nods to the pretty man's comments. Yes, rest....and then go. She confirmed that the Relentless was available to take them to hear the trench.
"We should probably not approach from directly above however. If they're sinking ships, we'll warn them if we try to ship directly to them. And we'll have very poor visibility into what is beneath us. The best approach is likely from outside the ring of sunken ships, and along the bottom of the ocean where we may be able to find cover and a stealthy approach."
"Music to my crew's ears," purred Kalis, "they are not so keen to meet the fate of other ships. Though your presence might spark the confidence they would be pleased not to test it."
Almost completely recovered Brados, with colours fully returned to his face and now looking quite imposing (silk, satin, a lot of gold, smile of a merchant expecting good profit) made a welcoming gesture. "I have to beg for your forgiveness once more. With all the commotion I allowed myself to ignore the rudimental hospitality! My house - is your house. Please, have some rest before the enormous task that awaits you."
You did get a royal rest. Personal room (obviously) where decor speaks more of money than good taste but the amount of money spent makes the difference negligible. Local food (the master of the house indeed was a true gourmand) and wines from any part of the world - you had it all.
Personally Hansel could restore at least some of his perfume collection (though rare and particular soaps and shampoos were not something Bardos used). Trudie could play helpless grandmother or a powerful wielder of magic - well-drilled servants treated her as the latter. To be fair, anyone else too - their orders were obviously strict. The helmets were given to everyone, so, you had a chance to get used to the strangely light magical device.
The beds in the house were as grand and comfortable as the house itself and after the day of fighting, sailing, and numerous emotional encounters, you got your well-deserved rest. But eventually, the morning came with all the noises of a fully awake house (perhaps, on purpose). The crew of Relentless brought you back on board and the ship sailed back, though, a farther into the open sea. Kalis was watching the several navigational devices, calculating and constantly adjusting something. The crew that was not busy with the sails, watched the waters in the nervous silence, but there was no attack. Finally, Kalis commanded the full stop.
"There!" She pointed out the direction. "See that dark field? Happened recently. Now it's easier to go around the thing but ugly as all hells. You need to go there." The water in the pointed direction did look darker, but not all that frightening for drylander's eyes. The spot (more like a field, indeed) was about five hundred yards further - a minute or two of swimming if the helmets were working. "Good luck. Let the sea gods watch over you," quite sincerely wished you goodbye Kalis and watched for the last preparations before the big dive.
That evening the young bus girl vanished into her room. When she emerged however a confident, dark haired woman presented to everyone. She had an extra bag in her hands and handed it confidently to a soldier. "I'll expect you to keep this, unopened, and somewhere safe until my return. It contains personal affects that don't respond well to water." She stared at him directly, "Do you understand?"
It was more than just her demeanour that had changed. Her clothing was different, thin grey metal armor visible beneath wraps of black clothing that clung tightly to her body. The cloak tossed over a shoulder, now hangs down largely. Her face seems to have a few more lines, revealing her age, her long black hair was now short, almost a crew cut under the magical helmet, and her skin was lighter, a white pale.
She strode among the others happy to be out in the open. She walked past Hansel, a small knowing smile on her face, and slaps Davis on his muscular arm as she passes him, "Hey big guy."
She stands near the prow as they get underway, letting the sea spray damper her cheeks. The water was cold. It could slow down her reactions a bit. She'd have to make sure she acclimate before they get into too much trouble. When they arrived she strode over to the others and waited. "Will you wait here? If not, how will we get back?"

Davis took his time getting ready that morning. He slipped on his padded under clothes, then buckled on his magical adamantine armor. Every piece of the armor was polished and ready to go, with him having spent a good portion of the previous night making sure all of it was oiled and ready for what was to come. He strapped it on now, one pice at a time, adjusting to make sure it was just right before moving to the next. Next came the sheathes of his two magical hand axes, the throwing axes slipping into sheathes across his broad chest. After that it was the magical cloak, one meant to give him some protection above and beyond what his armor already granted. it slid over the black metal with a silken hiss as he adjusted it across his shoulders. When that was in place he picked up the rune-engraved quiver, with several shafts poking up out of it. he hoped its magic would allow it to retain its usefulness under water, but he had nevr tested it in that sort of arena prior to now. he shrugged as he slid it on over the cloak, guess he would learn soon enough.
Pausing there, he stood for a long moment, just breathing, and letting himeself prepeare for what was to come mentally. It was many minutes before he moved, his eyes closed and his breathing deep.
With a nod he did move then, picking up the magical glaive and then the strange helmet that was suppose to be the scale balancer for this mission. he would believe that when he saw the thing in action.
Moving out then, he would join the others out in the more public areas of the house. When his arm was patted, with a 'Hey big guy' he would glance over and his eyebrows raise as the little bus girl's transformation would be taken in.
On the ship later, as they are pointed to the area ahead, Davis would nod at the comment by the not-so-much-of-abus-girl. "I too would like to know the plans for picking us back up once this is over with." He would add on.
Yusko slept on the floor of the deck in his room that night. Some beds were too soft. A simple hammock was better for a swaying ship in his mind but all in all he slept well. Despite this he was up early going through his belongings. He had spread them out neatly across the floor while he sat cross legged viewing them all. He stretches out his arms, turns his head to the side causing some joints to create some popping noises and then went about choosing his gear.
Deftly he moved his hands about. He chose a set of clothing that was thinner and more tight fitting, such that it wouldn't create unneeded drag in the water and his armor. Then he grabbed his knife and needles adding them in. Then his satchel with healing supplies and the various potions and goodies. When he felt situated, he packed up the rest into his bag to be left here. The entire content holding all his worldly possession except for what's on him. Content, he sighed and headed out of his room to meeting the others.
"Good morning fine friends. Sounds like we are off on adventures today. However, before we fully begin. I'd like to complete a full physical for each of you." Yusko says. He turns to Hansel and say, "Hansel... You're first. I'm going to need you to drop trow and prepare to cough."
Kailis reassure the group, that Relentless will be waiting. Not too close, but the area will be watched. All the future heroes will need to do is to pop up from the debts and they will be picked up by the ship and transported back to the mainland. (The items that the party wished to leave behind were safely brought on board of Relentless, and Kalis personally saw for them to be locked in a small hold.)
The not-a-bus-girl gives Yusko a look that says....approximately.... "The chances of me taking my clothes off so that you can examine me are about equal to the sun and moon coming alive, walking across the sky to greet each other, and then performing a dance together along to the tune of 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik'". Her body language meanwhile says something close to.... "Try to touch me and you'll wonder how your hand go so far away from the rest of your body and what that strange painful feeling is in your wrist."
Approximately.

When no one moves, Yusko shrugs and takes off a glove. "No worries, there is a discount off of services rendered based upon one's current health but I suppose I'll just have to make it on the fly. Though, if anyone has larger issues, such as your ki is out of balance, you have a chi block within your eight meridian and it makes your foot tingle between the hours of 11 pm and 3 am, or when the 4th planet is in retrograde and your hearing becomes affected. These are important bits of information."
He proceeds to rummage in his healers kits and pull out a piece of parchment. "Since it seems you all will be foregoing the physical. I'd like you to sign this disclosure stating that you had been offered a physical and are declining of your own volition."
Hansel appears in the morning clad in the most fashionable and ornate plate armor anyone has ever seen outside an official temple ceremony. It is clearly functional, but so ornate, impeccably clean and brightly-burnished that you would swear it had never been used. With his perfectly freshly groomed hair and smooth face, he looks more ready for an exhibition than an expedition.
Yusko's request on the ship is met with a beaming grin from Hansel. The handsome cleric seems perfectly willing to display his assets for little or no reason at all, and would gladly drop his kit if he could. But the heavy armor makes the task simply impossible. Nevertheless, Hansel allows Yusko to do what he deems prudent to check the health of the party, before donning the magical helm. Without waiting for any further preamble, Hansel steps up onto the gunwhales of the ship and drops into the water....

Taking no part in any physical, nor in signing any bits of paper, not-a-bus-girl watches as Hansel leaps off the front of the ship. With her helmet on, she climbs over the side, using the rigging, and then pulls up her hood and slips silently into the water, and begins getting used to the magically enhanced movement in the water. Her cloak around her in the water, the thing takes on a dark blue color with ripples, helping her blend into the waters. She glances around for any signs of look outs or spies, doing a slow circle of the area while the others get into the water.
