Once Ariana and Kulogall are situated in the second wagon and the caravan starts moving, Ariana says to Kulogall, "I'm not disappointed in you. I think your magic is neat. I was seeing if you could hear my thoughts, but it seems you need to be the one to start the ol' thoughts-conversation."
Being a bit embarrassed about the misunderstanding, she mindlessly reaches into her pocket and fiddles with something.
"Hello" Ruby says to Wake after Elwyn introduced them. She is a quite young a halfling girl with red hair cut so short you´d think she´s a boy. She has a face full of freckles ad is wearing a grey cloak from which only the tip of her shortsword can be seen.
She waves goodbye to the mage and sits in the last wagon.
"Nice to meet you too Kulogall and Ariana, I'm sure we will all make a good team" Elwyn says smiling widely at the others. "And I have some magic of my own." He says patting the tentacle-shaped wand tucked under his belt.
"Well, looks like we're in the last wagon Ruby." Elwyn says as he climbs up and takes the reins. "I admit I know nothing of driving one of these, but we will work it out together, right Ruby?" Animal handling hopefully with helpful advice from Ruby: 18
Seeing the mules steadily following the cart before them Elwyn relaxes and turns to Ruby. "Now where was I, oh, yes, Mount Waterdeep. Did you know it was there that Mystra, Kelmvor and Cyric ascended during the Time of troubles? Think of it, mere mortals ascending to godhood just by walking a set of stairs. Just shows godhood is a fickle thing, but our tales and stories endure even through troublesome times." Elwyn says thoughtfully as they roll through the pleasant landscape.
Perception if needed, looking out for bandits and other threats: 18
"I am sure you´ll do fine even without my help seeing how you managed to handle the griffon before. But I can keep my eyes on our surroundings to help you navigate I guess." She says and during their ride she would occasionaly point out a fallen branch or a hole in the road so that they can avoid it.
Kulogall enjoys riding with Ariana, telling her of his path here thus far. "My ability to communicate telepathically came when I was 14 or 15 or so. I have a brother... I don't know that you have heard of him. He has made quite a name for himself here in Waterdeep, his name is Xolo. He was always jealous of my magical abilities that came naturally. He studied hard and became a wizard, but he has used his power for dark purposes. When we were young we developed a telepathic bond. Right before we left I felt his presence and it distracted me. I just came here from Alaron, partly to try and hunt him down. I actually think he is headed toward Saltmarsh, I don't know why. Perhaps something to do with the powers that be in the city. Anyway, I need to go to Saltmarsh, and I'm glad that I can help in this way." Kulogall pauses, stares ahead and watches the scenery on the trip for a while.
"So, tell me about you Ariana, how did you end up here? Tell me a little more about your past, I have heard of your skill but I don't know anything else about you."
Ariana listens politely, though she may seem to get distracted occasionally. "I can't imagine having magical powers. It must make you feel so powerful and unafraid. As for me, I grew up here in Waterdeep. I've been on my own since I could walk, surviving on the streets. Bravid says that experience has helped me develop a certain set of skills, but I don't know. Bravid is my teacher. Bravid Nan. He's an old blind merchant now, but he used to be this amazing monk adventurer. Anyway, he caught me trying to steal from his shop--" and Ariana catches herself admitting to a crime.
"There was bread on a table at the front, and I thought it was free for customers." (Deception: 7) "Anyway, he let me have the bread and started training me. That was two years ago. A week ago, he said it was time for me to prove myself out in the world, and here I am."
Ariana gets quiet and stares out at the passing trees.
All - The first couple of days of travel pass uneventfully. With nothing to do except talk and sit most of the day, you all get to know one another a bit more and the beginnings of friendships start to bud. On the third day of travel, shortly before noon, you pass what appears to be the ruins of an old lookout tower on a rise facing the sea. A short stone wall lines the road here, mostly intact in spots, totally crumbled in others. Up ahead you see a young man standing behind the wall. From this distance you can see that he isn't wearing a shirt and he rests his left forearm on the stone wall along with his right elbow. His right hand supports his head. When you get closer you see the points of his ears peeking through brown curls of hair. He straightens and stands as you near, waving to you. "Hail travelers, might I trouble you for a bit of help?" The wagons are very near to him now and you all can see that he appears to be in his early twenties, likely a half-elf, and he also appears to be completely naked, though the stone wall hides his body from the waist down.
“Oh dear. A victim of bandits … or bait to aid bandits. Which do you suppose he is?” Wake says to whomever he is riding with.
Wake will draw his shield from his back awkwardly while still sitting on the bench, waiting to see if Isadore slows the caravan or speeds them away from the encounter.
He will also perform a quick casting of guidance on himself to try and ascertain the sincerity of the young half-elf if the conversation continues.
Guidance adding: 2 to the next ability check, presumed to be …
All - Isadore slows and stops the caravan short of the naked man. He calls out to the party, "Hold up here, not sure what this is all about but be ready to take off if need be. I wouldn't feel right about jus' leavin' 'im all nekkid out here without at least seeing what he has to say... What say you?" And he looks to each of you in turn, awaiting your response.

During the first couple of days Elwyn is very talkative, mostly telling anyone who cares to listen a seemingly endless amount of fabulous and probably wildly exaggarated stories, but he also mentions that he is on his way to Saltmarsh to escape the ire of one Lord Blarglutton of Baldurs gate, hoping that Saltmarsh will be out of the lords grasp. In the evenings he brings out his lute and plays ballads with equally fabulous tales.
Sitting next to Wake this particular stretch of the road he ponders his words. "If it is a trap it sure is an eccentric one, still better safe than sorry." He says and turns to the others. "It would be interesting to know what hides behind that stone wall."
Insight to determine if this is a trap: 11 Perception to notice hidden bandits: 17
Kulogall is immediately suspicious, this seems improper, and smells of a trap. “Back up and show me your hands. I don’t really care if you are naked. I need to know that you aren’t armed or setting us up for something. Do as I say or there will be consequences.” He uses the power of the wind to start blowing one rock at a time off the loose stone wall, slowly starting to reveal the young man.
Sensing Kulogall's suspicion, Ariana jumps of the wagon and wields her quarterstaff. She keeps a hand on the wagon so that she can jump back in, if necessary. She's also ready to charge should the need arise.
Ruby, although suspicious of the man keeps sitting in the wagon waiting to see how the situation plays out, her hand resting on a dagger straped to her side.
With your insight check you feel the young man is genuinely in need of assistance.
For future rolls I'd say you only have enough time to focus your attention on one skill check on your turn. I went with the Insight since you rolled that first.
Kulogall - The wind suddenly picks up and the old stones of the wall begin to tumble down. The young man startles, raising his hands and taking a step back, he says "Are you serious?" as he looks at Ariana then back at you, cheeks red with embarrassment. "Ok, ok... S...Sorry miss..." He stammers as he backs up further. You can see that he is indeed completely naked. He does a quick about face and then covers himself with his hands, "Happy?" He says, clearly uncomfortable.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kulogall looks for a blanket, a sack or something in the wagon to throw to him, to give him covering. "Ok. Tell us what happened. I'm sure there is a story here. But only the truth please, however embarrassing it is." He keeps looking around, staying alert, looking for any movement along the periphery of the road, to the sides, ahead, and behind us.
All - Kulogall tosses the half-elf a blanket and he quickly wraps it around himself. "Thanks... Suffice it to say, I was robbed. You've already embarrassed me enough, I'd really rather just leave it at that." He looks a bit pouty at this point.
Wake -
With your Insight check you are confident there's more to this story than a simple robbery. The young man looks like his ego has taken a pretty big blow lately and the embarrassment of having to reveal himself to a wagon load of strangers only further wounded his pride. He might open up, but he's going to need more kindness than just a blanket at this point.
Kulogall -
With your Perception check you don't see any suspicious or alarming movement in the area around you. You're confident that you are the only people in the immediate vicinity.
Kulogall - Isadore looks at you and raises an eyebrow, "Surely we can do better for him than just a blanket." He then turns to address the rest of the party.
All - Isadore says, "I've got a couple spare sets of clothes, but I don't think they'd fit 'im very well. I don't expect none of ye to give anything away for free, so if any of you taller folks are willing to spare this young feller some clothes, I'd pay you well for it." He then climbs off the wagon and walks over by the half-elf. "I don't suppose you've got nothin' to eat with you either." The half-elf sniffles and a wipes his eyes with the blanket, "No sir. Haven't eaten much of anything since yesterday." Isadore says, "Well, don't worry son, I've got plenty to share." and he heads over to the back of the first wagon and climbs inside.
"Yeah same here, anythig that I do have would be too small for him ayway."Ruby sighs, feeling a little bad for the man but still a little cautios.
After seeing Isadore talk to the man, Ruby will follow with: "Sorry I can´t be of much help. What´s your name? If you live close by maybe we can help you get there?" She says and looks at Isadore if he agrees with her idea.
