Hello! I’m looking for 4-6 players to take part in a roleplay heavy campaign.
Background
Avendale was meant to be one grand city that spanned the entire continent, a plan set in motion by the first emperor once he conquered the world 5000 years ago. Plenty of progress was made across the millenniums, but over time the efforts dwindled and soon stopped entirely, leaving the city unfinished. The royal district is a gleaming metropolis, but the farther you travel from there, the less impressive the places are, and soon you’ll find only isolated villages and towns existing a stone’s throw away from the uncharted wilds beyond Avendale.
However, the current emperor has made plans to resume his ancestors’ plans and finish constructing the city. In the small town of Silkmoor, officials from the royal district have arrived to develop the place, angering the local druid circle who seek to protect their patch of wilderness. Things are tense between the two groups and you–whether you’re local or a traveler passing through–find yourselves drawn into the conflict.
Characters
You’ll start at second level using point buy for stats. No evil characters. Please apply with the following info:
Backstory: She's a traveler passing through, always restless - felt that she did all she could in the last city she was in and looking to assist in others. She's been in the small town of Silkmoor for about a week and was here when the officials arrived.
Background: Nature's Protector (HB can change if you want)
Alignment: NG
Brief description/backstory:
Ilex is the name given to him by the druids of the forest. He was trained to be a caretaker and healer for those that dwell there until recently when the town decided to expand.
Backstory: Grybek Strongheart was taken into an orc village originally for food when he was just about 4 years old, but he proved to be a very good fighter, finding some sickles and cutting down some orcs so the orcs took him in. They taught him the teachings of Talos and joined the temple to Talos. Grybek, being a very good priest, sacrificed some blood to win the favor of Talos. Talos granted him a fraction of his power. Now Grybek goes to Avendale to scavenge the town for fine things to put in Talos's temple.
Brief description/backstory: Columbus is fairly quiet and calm due to never being allowed to work outside with others in the small town he lived in with his Father. He read books for a while and did help out at his towns local library where he got a job at a year before leaving. His father taught him magic and taught him how to fight despite Columbus being weak. After he had left the town around age 17 he had gotten a bit stronger but was still quiet.
Class/Subclass: thief / arcane trickster eventually
Background:Criminal
Alignment: CG
Brief bio: Jurg is a (mostly) reformed criminal. He talked himself out of a conviction for petty theft from the local baker (he really likes baked goods) with a promise to help work for the local constabulary. So now he serves as a spy/undercover investigator. He still doesn’t quite understand private property rights and people’s desire for privacy….
Brief description/backstory: Circe comes from a lesser known noble family. Her mother had passed hen she was quite young, and her father had raised her the only way he knew how. As a result, she grew up bombarded by notions of honor and duty. While their family did not have the highest ranking among the other Nobles, they were well respected, as their bloodline was known to produce powerful sorcerers. For generations, her family had served the crown loyally, in times of peace as magical advisors, and in times of war as War mages. This was a matter of great pride for her father, making it all the more heartbreaking for him when it became clear that for whatever reason, the family magic was almost non-existent in Circe, his eldest daughter. Her father was quite adept at maneuvering through the politics of the noble Court, so he quickly squashed any rumors that might suggest the family's magical bloodline was weakening. He kept Circe out of the public spotlight, turning his focus to training her younger sister Sylvia. Eventually, Circe became bitter, jealous of what her sister could do, angry that her father was so quick to toss her aside, but most of all, desperate to prove to both of them that she could do better, that she didn't need their magic, she would make her own. She poured over every book in her family's library, studying magical theory, and discovering how to replicate those techniques through mostly mechanical means. On her 18th birthday she showed her father what she had learned, what she could do, a few small prototypes, and her notes and essays on how this could allow her to not only equal, but perhaps even surpass their family's magic eventually. That was the proudest moment of her life, and deep down she hoped it would finally earn her father's approval. After looking over it all, her father calmly took the papers she handed to him, walked to the fireplace in his office, and threw the pages into the fire. Circe watched in horror as over a year's worth of research, a year of her life, vanished into smoke and ash in a matter of seconds. Before she could react, her father strode across the room, slapping her across the face, his look one of stern disappointment. She could manage little more than a yelp of surprise, her hand shooting to her stinging cheek, which was bright red from the impact of her father's hand. He sneered down at her, telling her that no daughter of his would ever be allowed to resort to such pathetic, mechanical imitations of magic. He began lecturing her on how lucky she was that he hadn't disowned her years ago for being such a useless child. In that moment she snapped, unleashing a torrent of insults at her father. Years of pent up frustration and bitterness came rushing out all at once, and at the end of it, she didn't bother waiting for his response. She stormed out of the room, telling him he needn't bother disowning her, vowing that she would return one day and prove him wrong, that she didn't need his wealth or influence, or his magic to become powerful. She packed her bags that night and ran, vanishing into the darkness. Since then she's traveled all around the kingdom, taking what jobs she could, and keeping her identity a secret, an easy enough task since her father had practically hidden her from the world. Her one goal is to eventually return home having become more powerful than her father or sister ever could have dreamed and finally force them to acknowledge her as the superior mage.
Name: Zenodor Galthur, though most of his friends just call him "Z"
Ability Scores (Point Buy):
Str 13
Dex 15
Con 12
Int 10
Wis 10
Cha 16
Race: human
Class/Subclass: Warlock 2
(Using his powers for illusion and influence where possible, rather than raw damage)
Background: Charlatan
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Brief description/backstory:
Coming from one of the poorest areas and a family with little to their name, Z from an early age used his people skills to try and game the system and do whatever he could to get his friends and family into a better place. He mostly sticks to the law, but he is quite happy to bend rules when necessary. Being perpetually short of cash, Z takes on any odd jobs that come up. More recently, he overreached and took on a job well beyond him, ending up caught through a portal in the power of a Great Old One. He was certain that he would die, but instead the unfathomable being chose him as a servant. Thus he gained his first powers ad a Warlock. He still does not understand his master's purpose, but his new skills and powers are a welcome gift. Most recently, he felt a strange pull, like his master for some reason wanted him to be in this places at this very time. So now he has arrived here, though he has not the faintest clue what the reason might be.
Brief description/backstory: : Tamelflet was one of the "unlucky ones' Homeless and alone for as long as he can remember. He has spent his life scrounging, and begging in the streets. In his early teens, to pass time he would play harmless pranks on people when he could. Moving their horses when they had tied them up. or tying laces of boots together when no was was looking. Anything harmless that would create a little fun in his endlessly boring days of simply trying to survive. "What fun is life, if there is no fun??"
