Daveth won't kill anything if he can help it. He will inflict non-fatal damage, intending to knock enemies unconscious if they are unwilling to resolve conflicts non-violently.
That is, if there is even something to kill. Kress didn't think of it, but OOC I consider that the horses may just be the way the adventure tells the characters that something happened to Gundren and his guard. The two went to Phandalin before our group and two horses exactly are there. That or the DM just put it to freak us out thinking there is a trap (in which case props to the DM, I love this kind of tension in games).
1. I would like to know if Kress Stealth was allowed because depending if it was I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the scenario changes drastically on the mechanic point of view.
If the Steatlh was considered he had a 25 so the goblin would need to know just as much or higher to target him, no?
If the Stealth was not possible then Kress wouldn't have an action to ready, in this case an attack? If so I would ask what this attack, directed to the first goblin to appear in his range, would hit (if anything).
2. Thank you for the map. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that:
Halfling’s can attempt to Hide when obscured by a creature 1 size or larger than them is nearby, but “normal” sized creatures can’t. Also you can’t be hidden from a creature that can already see you (at least not with a Stealth check), and I presume the goblins could already see us. Ultimately, up to the DM though.
I hope I do not sound impolite by saying that, but I am not Kress. Kress is my character, but we are very much two different individuals. With that said it seems that both you and Thazgol have misunderstood my post by considering that my question was in the bullet points, when in fact the question was simply "I would like to know if Kress Stealth was allowed" and the bluepoints were just how the different answers would affect my next play.
@Thazgol
I am not arguing that Kress should be allowed to Stealth, but since you brought rules in the matter and I like to discuss DnD rules I would say that the fact that the Halflings can is tantamount to another races being unable, meaning that, ultimately, it is a case of rullings that fall under Rule 0, that is, the DMs choice. The moment in which the Goblins have seen the group is also something that depends on the DM judgement, since, considering that they did not attack the characters until they approached further it is possible that either the Goblins did not see the characters earlier or they choose to wait for the characters to enter optimal range of their archers. Both equally possible and reasonable.

Not impolite at all :)
Maybe I did not explain myself correctly either - my question was a bit more... Generic maybe? Based on no specific knowledge of the D&D5e ruleset details, but more on RPG experience with other D&D versions and similar systems. Do you think a humanoid sized creature should be able to use Stealth to hide behind another humanoid sized creature?
@kingdracon: On a side note, should I wait for when my turn comes up in the Initiative order, or could/should I post in advance, with some conditionals depending on who goes before me, to expedite play?

I am not familiar with earlier editions or many other systems. I also would need to make a disclaimer that I don't have that much experience DMing DnD so a "5e player bias" may be noticeable in my answer. That disclaimer made I would answer that depends. Thing is in 5e RAW standing behind a creature can give your character some degree of cover. It is a rule that I do not remember being used, but it opens a precedent that a creature in front of another blocks vision. If a player of a game I DM asked me I would say to him that if he describes himself lowering his character behind another humanoid, his character was not particularly larger (thinking more about a hulking goliath, for example) he should be capable to hide behind another humanoid if it was possible to hide. In our game specifically, Draco has explained to me the goblins were indeed watching from the start so I wouldn't rule it as a case in which was possible, intead I would let my player use the action he would spend on stealth in another thing, which is what Draco did.
On the question matter, I tend to overexplain things a little bit too much and ended mixing the period with the question proper with the possible scenarios I considered. What matters is that everything is cleared now.
On a side note, has anyone experienced trouble with DDB notifications recently? I noticed that I did not receive notification of answer in three topics I follow (this one amongst them).

You don’t have one yet. There will be a chance to acquire one at some point fairly soon probably, but you don’t have one at this point.

Well, dead horses in the middle of the road, filled with arrow shots is definitely suspicious :D
Telurion's Perception is only beaten by his Initiative :P
The first Natural 1. Had to be someone lol

Couple of questions:
1. I would like to know if Kress Stealth was allowed because depending if it was I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the scenario changes drastically on the mechanic point of view.
2. Thank you for the map. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that:
Kress, I am not sure you can use Stealth while hiding behind another player character...

Another question: do you use flanking rules?
As I agreed to be the case.
