Title a WIP, this may go horribly wrong. Will contain spoilers to the end of campaign 1 of Critical Role
Recruiting closed.
You have all gathered to a small town in the Alabaster Sierras, a humble little place on a hill, surrounded by a forest. A grand, autumnal tree stands in the center, amber leaves cloaking the the town square. A tall, bold, half-elven man stands on one of the higher roots, his long, braided hair, black with a streak of white, blows in the wind. He wears polished, well-made plate armor, a mace sheathed at his side and a large shield in his hand. He speaks to the crowd gathered around the tree, and this is where your adventure begins.
He stands regally, a large detailed image of a sun emblazoned on his shield. He begins to speak after a moment of cheering. “Let get to the core of the matter. If you’re a farmer, a child, someone elderly, or a guard, you are fine to leave or not participate. For the rest of you, those of you with nothing to lose or some adventuring experience, listen up. We’ve been having… issues with a cave that has recently been discovered not far outside of the town. We’ve lost multiple people to the creatures inside, so this is not for the faint of heart.”
However, you may have tuned him out, in noticing a hooded figure leaning against the tree, seemingly attentive. The figure speaks briefly with a goliath, before the goliath yells something at him and storms off. The crowd slowly disperses, filled with mumbles. You watch the regal half-elven man start to walk off.
What do you do?
I'm a new DM, looking for 4-5 tolerant players, as I will make mistakes. This is my first attempt at DMing, so lets hope it goes well. I'd like fairly available players, but I can work with slower players.
Players should be making characters with the following prerequisites:
1. Levels 1-3
2. No encumbrance
3. XP instead of Milestone
Critical Role content is allowed, as this is a CR campaign. Some homebrew content is okay, as long as its discussed with me. I haven't purchased any of the books on the site, so the characters will have to be restricted to basic rules- sorry.
I'll try not to rail-road the campaign too much, but I'm used to writing a story over writing a flexible, D&D campaign.
Being a CR fan I would live to play a Taldorei campaign. Also Still being somewhat new to the game I don't have a problem with learning together.
As far as the app process goes, do you want to see full sheets or just a character concept and maybe a brief background? Also, point buy or roll for stats?

Just the concept and a brief background. I'd like for you to make a sheet here on D&D Beyond, as I'm going to be making a campaign so that I can keep track of the characters. You will roll for your stats.
I just realized that's contradictory, I'd like both.
I'm new to D&D Beyond / PBP but have been playing over a year on table top. I'd like to give this a try, I sent you a PM with a brief background, let me know what you think? I can't seem to figure out where the PMs would even be delivered here, so I wanted to make sure you're checking for those.

Hey! I responded to your PM. I'm fairly new to this site, but I can help a bit if you have questions. It's really user-friendly, so making a character sheet is easy.
Thank you very much. I will have Kenari Stormsbane, a half-orc Blood Hunter up soon. I'll try to get her backstory up tonight or tomorrow by the latest, but her char sheet is in progress.
I'm okay with taking those rolls if you rule that I have to, but I have to ask whether I can roll again, because I didn't expect to have 2 scores having negative modifiers.

I'd like you to keep them, but if you really want to, you can re-roll the 6.

Here's the campaign to put your character sheets in https://ddb.ac/campaigns/join/83747184933606
Let's hope this isn't too much of a train wreck.
