A welcome week of rest, a few new leads on work to be had, and you're ready to depart once again from Trishdale. From what the woodcutters said, it's a couple day's travel to the camp, and you set out on the east road.

Thavriol moved carefully along the west road, every sense alert, scanning for danger, listening for danger, even scenting for danger. "So, do we have anything to go on besides 'wet howls'," he asks Samael after they've been on the road a couple of hours.
"merely suppositions at this point, could be monsters, could be sick beasts, could be sick monsters. regardless, this is a matter worth investigation."
I was with a group that met a fairly sick bear, a few weeks back." Nolla mentions as she follows after the others. "Wonder if these are related to that one..."
There are definitely signs the road has been used, but you know that the woodcutter's camp is farther on, and it doesn't seem that the wolves have ventured this close to town, as you find no signs of their presence.

Thavriol feels a little disconnected from the others, his thoughts wandering from the last encounter with the neogi to the teamster and his strange hand, to, as always, Rissla, the home she'd made for them. With a disgusted shake of his head, the half-elf brought his mind back to the present, to the task at hand. Best he kept his mind on that or there'd be no returning to that home.
Nolla glances to the others, glad to see they are working to keep them on the right track, and watch for anything strange. Her head is still pounding from the previous night's drinking, so she is just glad someone is watching out for what might be around.
"we're lucky so far, the track marks don't seem to be near the town...but I'd need to be at the worksite to know more." Samael shakes his head, wondering if something has gone wrong....

Thavriol takes a moment to look around the camp sight, then bows his head in supplication, "O' Mighty Tyr, Lord of Justice, grant me sight," and he calls upon his divine sight. After Tyr's presence fades, he examines their surroundings with more mundane senses.

ooc: The presence of strong evil registers on your senses like a noxious odor, and powerful good rings like heavenly music in your ears. As an action, you can open your awareness to detect such forces. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet of you that is not behind total cover. You know the type (celestial, fiend, or undead) of any being whose presence you sense, but not its identity (the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich, for instance). Within the same radius, you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated, as with the hallow spell.

Perigord takes the watch after Thavriol, and takes the chance to cook his newly found tubers into treats with the application of some of the mushrooms' spores and a bit of halfling hearth magic (Chef feat, allows me to spend an hour making prof bonus # of treats that can be eaten as a bonus action for prof bonus temp hp).

Thavriol downs the last of his hot tea, savoring the pleasant burn as it warms him from the inside. Stowing his mess kit, he checks his gear, examines his rapiers, then looks at the others, "Everyone ready?"
After they set out, he keeps his mind carefully on the task at hand.
Nolla stomps around the campsite, getting her blood flowing after the cool night out. She would eat a bit of her rations, then be ready to continue towards these woods they are off to investigate.

"What a beautiful road," Perigord muses. "Nice change from our normal locale."
He inspects the underbrush in hopes of finding any ingredients for cooking.

At this early start to the trip, Thavriol and Samael don't find anything to tip them off about the nature of what they may or may not be facing.
Perigord does find a cluster of mushrooms that could be harvested, and a few starchy tubers that could be the start of a hearty meal.
