The barkeep pales a little at the thought of "special" wine. "Best we have, sire. Please take a seat anywhere you wish. I'll be back." As he rushes to the back, the other patrons return to there companions, obviously looking anywhere but at you.
The barkeep returns quickly with a goblet of deep red wine. "Well sire, not much to tells here bouts. Couple of strangers there came in bit earlier. There's a traveling minstrel here. Comes through maybe twice a year. Been here two days, but says he's leaving tomorrow. Fishing has been unusually good lately. Some mighty big fish been caught. Eltherin's cow died couple weeks back, but she was old. Stopped giving milk in the early spring. That's about all here lately."
Lucius waits at the bar whilst the barkeep rushes off to source the "special" wine. When he returns he accepts the goblet, lifting it to his nose to smell the aroma before taking a short sip as he listens to the news. It wasn't quite what he was accustomed to, but it was adequate and he nods his approval. He looks over to the Dragonborn and Halfling as the barkeep mentions the couple of strangers.
He turns his attention back to the barkeep at the mention of a minstrel. "A minstrel you say, maybe this eve will prove most entertaining". He carries on listening, interjecting, "Good fishing is a fine omen of things to come, and a sign of devotion to the gods", whilst nodding sagely at talk of the fishing fortunes.
He loses a bit of interest when talk moves to the dairy cow though, and looks back over at the Dragonborn and Halfling. "Very good. Sit anywhere..." he says over his shoulder as he moves over to their table, goblet in hand, leaving his shield resting up against the bar.
"Gentlemen, the road has been a lonely place and I hunger for company as much as I hunger for food and thirst for wine. As fellow newcomers to these parts I thought I might join you", he says placing his goblet down on an empty spot at their table and reaching for a chair.
“Oh, I’m sure I don’t have much to talk about that would interest fine persons such as yourself, I’m far too low in my talk, but I’d never deny you company if that’s what your lordship requests!” Eraleigh tries to get up and help the innkeeper where he can to keep the newcomer’s drink full.
Lucius smiles at the Halfling. “Now that doesn’t sound right coming from a worldly looking sort such as yourself”, he says. “And we can forego the ‘Your Lordship’ talk, I am a traveller much as you are. Let’s leave the fawning to the locals shall we?”, he adds taking a seat.
He drinks his wine slowly, savouring the single goblet. “I would say introductions are in order. I am Lucius”, he says, looking from the Halfling to the Dragonborn.
(Any chance of some descriptions of Eraleigh and Nadaar)
History: This area is controlled by House Solotiy. Though you can't recall very much, the Solotiy are considered to be generally jealous of their birthrights, and this explains the tavern patron's response to a Half-Elf.
The Halfling is dressed in leathers, a shortsword at his side and a bow resting against his chair.
The Dragonborn wears more regular travelers clothing, his scales shine an green, which in this light is difficult to tell if it is truly green or emerald. Beside rests an ornate staff.
Eraleigh Wildcloak is a barefoot little fellow with dark brown hair that he keeps swept back from his forehead, and fuzzy mutton-chop facial hair. his clothes are an ordinary set of breeches and button up shirt. He’s armed, as any traveler might be, but he keeps them discreet for the most part. It’s easier due to a cloak he wears that’s almost more of a thick poncho. It has many folds of blue, green, and gray, perfect for billowing when a dramatic moment of flair is called for.
He’s tries to come off as an everyman, but his voice has the sort of timbre that draws attention from any listener, making it a bit hard for anyone to ignore.
Nadaar says in a more formal but quite tone "Welcome to our little party, Lucius. My name is Nadaar. What brings you to this place?". He is trying to get a read on him to see if he is a fellow Marshal or not. Investigation: 24 or Insight: 5
Lucius inclines his head at Nadaar and says, "Honoured to meet you Nadaar, and to join your....little party". He runs his hand through his hair and looks about the tavern. "As for why I am here, I am hoping that will become apparent sooner rather than later".
He fixes his gaze onto Nadaar. "What intrigues me more is a Dragonborn such as yourself in a place like this", he says gesturing at their surroundings. "And one with a Halfling companion. There must be a story to your presence here?", he finishes with a smile.
(OOC: Lucius is being quite honest in his response, and has nothing to identify him as a Marshal on show, so not sure if there is anything for me to roll here?)
Nadaar, remembering what they taught him, holds out his hand on his lap and mentally commands the Deputy Marshal's Badge to appear in his hand as an oval stone. He then looks at the two fellows sitting with him at the table and scans the tavern for any other silver nimbus auras. His intent is to do this nonchalantly.
(Just looked at the description and attributes of the Deputy Marshal Badge. My understanding from the wording is it is only visible to him and no one else; otherwise he would not do it.)
Nadaar relaxes his expression and smiles, leans in and using the stone mentally says to Lucius and Eraleigh "I believe we are all here to meet Cinnabar. Question is where is Cinnabar and how many of us received the summons?" He then mentally commands the stone (Marshal Badge) away again.
Lucius puts his goblet to his lips and whispers a quick reply to Nadaar before taking a sip, "I am indeed here to meet Cinnabar. I am sure all will be revealed in time".
He then looks to Eraleigh and says, "I believe we haven't completed all the introductions, would you care to share your name?"
“Oh, of course! Eraleigh Wildcloak, sir. I’m afraid I am a simple traveler. I take on the occasional job delivering letters, packages, and such from time to time. I also play a bit, but I’m not about to intrude on another player’s turf or try to follow an act like he’s rumored to be.”
“It is good to meet you Eraleigh Wildcloak”, Lucius says swirling the wine around in his goblet. “So tell me, how long have you both been engaged in your present lines of work? I myself am only recently employed”, he says choosing his words carefully in order to be discrete.
