As Jett approaches the cavern mouth she feels excitement building inside her. Hmm, gems. Overhearing Vorexx explain the reason for the Dwarf’s loss of his beard, she reaches inside her tunic and drops a gold coin into his mug.
“Thank you for allowing us to see inside your mine” she says with a kind smile. She then steps back to hear if the Dwarf will answer Rum’s questions.
Juniper changes the subject and tries to backtrack to the dynamic of the dwarf’s greeting. “We’re all so excited to be here. Do you think we should try any particular ales? And if I need to board Foxglove here, might you know where there is a stable? Just inside, maybe?”
She plops a silver coin into his mug.

Rum tilts his head the other way, regarding the dwarf for a moment, and then his eyes widen. "Oh dear, I have upset you", he says dropping to his knees. Surprisingly the tabaxi continues in dwarvish, "A thousand apologies master dwarf. I did not mean to offend, I was merely curious. Please, how may I redeem myself?". It wasn't perfect, but he had practised this at the monastery.

Zendry steps hesitantly forward. He knows he is rarely good at this kind of thing, but the passing moments only increase his desire to know the dwarf's story. "Perhaps whatever your story is would be easier to carry if it was shared? You don't know us, but who better to share something like this than someone who's good opinion you don't have to care for when tomorrow comes?"
“Why do I get the feeling we’re going to hear the story whether he wants to tell it or not…,” Juniper says, cocking her head and staring flatly at the two bullies.

Moira turns back to the begger and holds her hand out. “If you wouldn’t mind I think I would like a tour of the mines and festival. I’m sure there are many more pleasant topics we could talk about?”
Rum get's up from his knees and turns to the recently arrived dwarves. "Surely there is always a path to redemption, if the heart is inclined to find it?", he says to the pair of dwarves casually, but blocking their path to the first dwarf they met.
Zendry keeps his eyes mostly on the beardless dwarf, and in particular his reactions to whatever story the other two might tell. There are always two sides to anything, even if both sides think they have the truth.
Rum steps in front of the pointed finger blocking its path to Hruthmar.
"That is very unfortunate, but almost you said, so not the end of the world. It also seems very convenient, a guard falling asleep as a large force approaches. I would suspect foul play at work. How do you know this wasn't some kind of trickery or magic that put Hruthmar to sleep?", Rum asks the as yet unnamed dwarf, in a non confrontational way. He hoped this was a one off and could be explained, not a habitual drunken slumber, for Hruthmar's sake.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
‘So far,’thinks Jupiter wryly, ‘if I had to choose which cave to live in, I’d choose bats over dwarves.’ She can’t quite bite her tongue, and a growling sound emerges.
“Mmm HMMmmm. And?”, she growls.
Head still tilted, arms crossed, the flatness of her stare grows tall and vast, threatening to swallow the speaker and spit him out into an endless darkness (RP).
(OOC: Intimidation, intended result: the dwarf admits his argument is inconsequential. 2)

Zendry nods, and adds, "Yes, causing magical sleep is surprisingly easy. I myself could put both of you to sleep where you stand with minimal effort. If one dwarf falling asleep is enough to jeopardize the safety of the entire mine, you should be trying to change that fact, not punishing one who does so. Even if there was no nefarious cause this time, it should be an opportunity to learn, not punish. Punishing honest mistakes only makes others try to hide their own mistakes."

If the Dwarf could stare harder into the ground, he would dig a hole.
"I... I let my clan down... I let everyone down..."
A gruff Dwarvish voice behind you drips with disdain.
"Why don'cha go and tell them what actually happened!"
A pair of Dwarves kitted in armor and weaponry stride up.
"Tell 'em about how you almost got theThromdak Mines sacked!"

One Dwarf points at the cowering beggar.
"That one there", one of them says, "fell asleep on guard duty! Almost let an
entire company of gnolls slip by his post! Didn't you, Hruthmar? Brought
disgrace to your House Brashbeard! Brought disgrace to your brother, Vangmar, here!"
The other Dwarf, you now see, bears a slight resemblance to the beggar Hruthmar.
This must be Vangmar; he is silent, and also casts his glance downward.
Rum steps in front of the pointed finger blocking its path to Hruthmar.
