I have dabbled in various RPGs on and off for a while, but I am mostly a beginner with 5e. I would love to try my hand at hosting a play by post (PBP) game.
We would start with a short, published level 1 one shot (A Most Potent Brew) that probably takes about 3-4 hours to play live. If things go well, I am interested in adding more adventures and creating a longer campaign.
Play will be on Discord and we will use Avrea. Posting frequency would be at least once every 24 hours. More posts are encouraged.

Backstory: Fenly was brought up into the life of a farmer and worked the family farm, which was in quite a remote location. After his parents passed through illness, he carried on their way of life working hard to keep the farm going. After a pack of wolves decimated his herd though, there was nothing left to work for, and he retreated into the wilderness to live off the land. Normally a congenial fellow, he now has a deep seated anger bubbling under the surface over how his life panned out, which he has learned to channel and focus when needed.

We're doing one small murder-y thing for a bigger, better reason. The ends justify the means.
Alright, have something built, let me present Niamh Rach - The Aasimar Divine Soul Sorcerer.
Since you already have several people that are more melee focused I decided to go a Arcane/Face route.
Niamh was born in the streets and that is all he has known for most of his life. As a youth he managed to talk his way into a position as a shop boy, which let him sleep in the stock room and fairly consistently have a roof over his head. He found he had a knack for talking to people and bringing them over to his way of thinking through compliments, confidence, or the occasional white lie.
When he was 19, Niamh was sent to get something from the tavern down the road for the shopkeeper and himself, a small lunch. On his way he noticed a small girl in an alley, beaten and left for dead. His heart going out to the child that, in less fortunate circumstances, could have been him, he went to comfort her and see if there was anything he could do. Touching the young girls forehead, he could tell she wasn't long for the world. Searching the alley, there was no one nearby that could help. And he was worried that lifting her would cause more pain or result in a quicker death. "It's alright, you are going to be okay...just hold on." He smiled down at her, trying to find that spot in his mind where he can seemingly convince anyone of anything. To his surprise, her wounds seemed to close slightly and her breathing eased, becoming more relaxed. Had he just persuaded her to live, sent the dark shadow of death away for a moment? And was it a trick of light and shadow, or had there been a faint amber light shining under his hand?
Carefully lifting the breeze of a girl into his arms, he carried her to a nearby temple and explained the situation. They thanked him and accepted his small burden, assuring him that they would do what they could to save her. He turned to resume his task of getting lunch. But the feeling of persuading Death to skip his reaping and the tingling warmth that he felt shoot down his arm and into her forehead. That was the only thing he could think of.
***
Right now Niahm is just coming into his powers and doesn't know that he has any special abilities outside that of a human street urchin with a sly tongue. So far he has cast Mage Armor when being bullied without being aware of it, Prestidigitation while cleaning the shop without noticing that areas he hadn't cleaned yet were already done, and used Lay on Hands on that girl in the alley to save her life without knowing what he was doing.
But the acolytes at the temple have noticed, and they recognize the signs of an individual touched by divinity to bring heroic deeds to bear. Word is spreading, and interested parties are watching and may reach out to him for a mission in the near future.

Name: Berrak Ironfist
Race: Hill Dwarf
Class: Cleric (Life)
Background: Acolyte
Backstory: Berrak is an orphan, raised by the temple in the faith. As he grew he found a talent in healing, and that he enjoyed sitting and cheering people their time of need. His connection with the smallfolk lead to a separation between him and the temple elites. When an elder had a vision that someone from the temple was needed to help a far off village Berrak was selected and sent, unsure if he is truly following the will of the gods or simply being banished.

Bertolt Cook V Human, Warlock (Archfey), Folk Hero
Bertolt never struck anyone as a hero. His father had served in the Briarwood Castle kitchens for at least two generations and, after the unfornatue early death of Bertolt's mother, the boy joined him. Eventually the elderly cook's hands became too arthritic to work, but Bert (as his father called him) stayed on as an assistant to the new chef, helping with meal prep and foraging in the duke's woods nearby for fresh food. Bert never talked to other staff much, and seemed aware of how his appearance might unnerve people, with the big wine-stain birthmark across one cheek and stretching down his neck. He also kept odd customs, but insisted they were passed down by his father. He left cream out in saucers for the fairfolk, and frequently left the choicest mushrooms and tubers on stumps as an offering to whatever he claimed lived in the forest. The strangest quirk of all, though, was leaving small decisions to the flip of a coin. Whether to start on potatoes or butter first, flip of a coin. To take the right or left path for mushroom hunting, flip of a coin. So you can imagine Bert's reaction when a pixie appeared before him one day and proclaimed, "Greetings, Bertolt Feyfriend! For your continued respect and care for us, my lord has offered you a sliver of his power, making your reliance on luck all the more worthwhile. Do you accept this offer?" And Bertolt did what he always did: he flipped a coin. Shortly after this, he noticed strange tricks, such as ingredients and tools flying into his hand with a thought. But it was when he foiled an assassination on the Duke of Briarwood that Bert realized this might be more than he realized. He was hailed as a hero for noticing the poison on a day when the head chef was out sick, and the backstabbing envoy was immediately arrested. The Duke promised to support Bert's father for as long as the old man lived. Suddenly Bert was freed to wander the land and act on behalf of his mysterious benefactor. So he packed up his things, stood at the road side ... and flipped a coin.
I was going to roll up a Ranger or Druid depending on how it looked but I suspect you are closed now. If still open to another character let me know!

Name : Zinhorn Goltorah
Race : Wood elf, Urchin
Class : Ranger
Backstory :
Zinhorn was a wood elf who grew up in the forest near Silverfair and as he grew older and he came into town and lived on the streets as an urchin. He grew skilled in the use of a bow to hunt, stalking prey in the woods. He grew up on the edges of society, staying in the shadows, and he was proficient in hunting in the dark. He would bring deer and other game into town to pay for his supplies and to sustain himself. In the last few months he encountered more and more undead in the surrounding areas of Silverfair, he was alarmed by the change in their behavior and sheer numbers. He learned to track them and hunt them down as well.
Sybil Lynsav knew better than to travel alone at night. But sometimes as a soldier you have to press on, she was used to forced marches, being unable to stop at times. She knew how to travel and was not afraid to go the extra mile, she knew how to defend herself. Usually zombies required just a simple dagger thrust to the skull and problem solved. The problem was the the undead surrounding Silverfair had become more aggressive, working in coordinated attacks. They were... different. Stronger. Smarter. And able to surround and work together to attack anyone who was vulnerable, or alone. She found herself surrounded by a group of zombies one night, she was cornered. Suddenly an elf appeared behind them, out of the dark and sliced them down with his short swords. She owed a debt to Zinhorn, and grew in her regard for his abilities that night. They shared a campfire and then travelled the next morning on to Silverfair together.
Two months later, Zinhorn was coming back from a hunt when he found a note hammered onto the door jamb of the butcher. "To Zinhorn" read the note, the letters slightly stained and blurred from a rain 2 days ago. She asked for his help with the recent increase in undead activity, asked him to meet with other adventurers to help in this task.
(Of course can alter to fit circumstance, but his favored enemy is undead.)
