A new world has been wandering as an idea in my head. Which I'd love to share with some of you.
Terra Gemini (Or Gaia) is somehow a magical twin of earth. That's quite a difference, but both worlds fates are in fact intertwined. Magic is coming back to Gaia. More details are to be revealed during the game.
Inspirations/ ambience: Classics like Tolkien or Martin. Our world history and mythology. D&D 5ed.
Home-Brew: Home-brewing is welcome but require work and discussion. They are to be taken as experiences. The DM may update home-brewed features at any time during the game. Suggestions are more than welcome.
Experience from the DM: To be sincere, very low. I've done it quite a lot 15 years ago. That would be a first campaign ever since, even as a player. Also the first campaign online, and the first campaign in this home-brew world. What I can say in my favor is that I have been studying.
Expected from players: To help setting this new world alive.
So if that interests you, and if you think you could help. Please tell me a little bit about you, and why.
The game will be played in Discord. Starting at level 1.
For the moment I am taking between 3 and 4 players in. If there are more than 4 people to help, I will open a selection. In that case asking for character info and possibly some questions about yourself. I don't expect the game to start before next year. But it might happen.
Ok, so if there is to be a selection, some guidelines...
I am interested in you as a player. Meaning your style, motivation, experience, expectation. Additionally you could post your age (18+) and preferred posting frequency.
I am also interested in your character. Meaning class, a little bit of background and personality. So as you see, no character spreadsheet. But you have one or two paragraphs to make me interested. Tell me how far are you willing to adapt those, for the sake of the group.
For all these aspects, I am not looking for anything specific. I am looking to form a party with best chances or getting well together.
In terms of experience and age, the most diverse the better.
Otherwise, just present yourself the way you prefer ;)
This actually sounds like a campaign that I've been doing to play in for many years 😅 Kinda like old school Urban Arcana which I absolutely love.
I've been gaming about the last 8+ years now. I didn't actually get into gaming until after 4e came out but my former gaming party were all much older family friends who grew up with Advanced d&d and such. So I started playing 3.5 with them and eventually moved onto Pathfinder for the longest time. I didn't really get into 5e until last year but I've been trying to get into it even more as of late.
As for my playing style I tend to enjoy roleplaying over heavy combat, but I also tend to enjoy some games that have gritty survival aspects. I do tend to make too many clerics in general though XD and I may end up doing the same for a character for this game as well lol I'm not religious myself but I've always liked the imagery I get in my mind while playing a holy character.
So besides making just a run of the mill cleric, I like the idea of an archeologist/historian who grew very attached to one of the numerous deities and dogma's he's studied around the world. Probably to the point of seeming like a fanatic to a lot of people, and even possibly a cult leader to some conspiracy theorists hahaha
You mention magic is coming back, so would you say we'd start almost right after people are discovering magic, or could there be some organizations that have spent a fair amount of time trying to harness magic? And have you ever checked out the homebrew rules for 5eModern? If anything it would probably help with like purchasing real world items and such.
That's exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for. Got me interested in the player, and his potential character. I'll PM you soon to continue the conversation. For the moment, I take the opportunity of answering your questions:
"You mention magic is coming back..." "So would you say we'd start almost right after people are discovering magic?"- Magic is known, mostly from tales but also from science. There are people who passed their lives preparing for when magic returns. Because when it does, incredible shit happens to most of the people, but some grow powerful.
Normally, I would say the most interesting is for the players to start right with people are REdiscovering magic, yes. That would mean limiting magic a bit in the beginning. There are some interesting ways to do that without taking anything out from a spell-caster. So to resume, you got the precise Idea in my head, but that will be properly discussed with the players, once we have the party.
"Or could there be some organizations that have spent a fair amount of time trying to harness magic?" This is also true. But for generations they couldn't get anything out of it. Now, probably you are not the first to Rediscover magic. But that's all I can reveal.
"And have you ever checked out the homebrew rules for 5eModern?"No I didn't. But interesting, I will look forward to it. Though, even if I might incorporate something, don't expect to see modern Warfare going on at Gaia so soon.
I've played RPGs for about six years now, specifically 5e coming up to be about two years now. I'm much more drawn to RP-heavy games, though I do enjoy the occasional boss battle or puzzle. As a forewarning, I get way too into character and will roleplay like my life depends on it; perhaps that's the theatre kid in me haha.
As for character, I have a few ideas but I'm leaning towards a tiefling way-of-the-drunken-master monk; I have quite a few backstory ideas that might be fun to play around with ;)
But yeah this sounds fun, and I'd be excited to play around in this world! Play-by-post is wonderful for me where I can't stutter or say a word wrong lol
I'm Marc 31, CST. I've been playing D&D 5e for 2 years in mostly combat heavy games but some of my favorite sessions were those without fights. I'm very much a team player and won't make lone wolf characters as I enjoy developing the stories of comradrery between the group.
If an artificer would be allowed I have a middle aged toy making gnome who desperately needs an influx of interest-free gold and is willing to risk life and limb to aquire it. I have other characters ready and would gladly create one to round out the party, but am eager to see my gnomes story play out.
I can post frequently most days unless I'm required to travel for work, which occasionally happens.
Anyhow, I'd enjoy taking part in this story but if I'm not what you're looking for I wish you best of luck!
Unfortunately for us, one player disappeared. Ghosted, not very polite. Life goes on!
Fortunately for you and for us, the campaign has not started yet. We are in character creation phase, giving good attention to backstories. The Idea is to create a nice piece of life for your character in Terra Gemini, so we are putting some effort into that part.
We are in need of a tank. I might be suspicious to say, but the party is funny, friendly, and strong!
If you need more information, don't hesitate to ask.
Interested in joining. I'm Eric, 43 MST. I've been playing sporadically for the last 3 decades, but more recently with HostilePrimate up there. I'm a team player as well.
I can play the barbarian for hire who is looking for his next gig. His coin purse is getting a little too light for his liking. He never really got along with his parents or siblings, so he left home at a pretty young age to find his fortune.

I'm fairly good at deriving an interesting backstory. Here are a couple samples:
Orin was born two months early to Emily and Frea. The mid-wife said there was no hope and left the child to peacefully die in a box by the cellar door. When his mother had recovered, she looked for her child, but he was not in the bassinet her husband had made for their child. She began to call out for the midwife, but she had left without a word. When Emily began to look frantically for her child she found his body laid in a box. She picked him up and he was cold to touch and lifeless. She clutched him close and wept uncontrollably. She called out to the Gods “WHY!”. Through her tears she saw a soft glow that grew brighter and brighter. Then she heard a voice all around her that said “I HAVE NEED OF THIS ONE.” The child took its first breath and color returned to its face and arms. Emily wept, this time for joy and thanks. She treasured this moment in her heart throughout his youth. Orin was a typical child, nothing out of the ordinary. Most people scoffed at his mother’s recount of his birth, but she held fast that the Gods had need of him. However, Orin had a way with mechanical things. He could fix things no matter the problem or could make new things that no one had ever imagined. Whenever he would come across something he had never seen before he would close his eyes and pray and the knowledge would come to him. Even though he was safe he had dreams of the Childlike Empress. She was calling for help and a dark lord (Lord of Darkness) was spreading a dark fog across this far off land. He would often wake with a start. It bothered him. So many things came easy but where was this land that seemed to call to him. In the middle of the night he woke with an unworkable design but it vexed him so he got up and went to his workshop and there he stayed for 5 days straight assembling this thing he had no idea why it even functioned. When he finished he held in his hand a compass. He knew this compass was pointing the way to Childlike Empress and his destiny. And, so began his adventure to the Ivory Tower.
Or
Animal was a drummer for a band. Unfortunately his anger issues caused lots of physical damage to the bars, theaters, and stadium's they played at till they had to ask him to leave the band. He then started to adventure. (Think Muppets) https://ddb.ac/characters/68186033/wsMXvq
I'm interested in joining. Been a player over facebook for a few years now, before that played in person a lot with a group of friends. Wanting to scratch my D&D itch a bit more, thought I would try out pbp. Haven't done it before. But I can definitely post a few times a day minimum. I'm just really looking to play some more. I like roleplaying and combat, puzzles, etc. All for a mixture really. I'm 18+ as well if it matters.
I'm also open to any character really, I know the party needs to gel well. Not sure what classes/races have already been chosen but I'm open to playing anything really, I've played almost all classes in other campaigns.
I'm fairly decent at coming up with backstories as well. I like making up stories for a variety of characters. A couple of my recent pitches, though one is in Spell Jammer world, and the other is Star Wars based: Spell Jammer: Part of a Thri-kreen village that was attacked, and largely killed on its watch, though Ta’Rak managed to save a “holy relic” of the tribe(In actuality a random holy symbol once found amongst ruins on the planet). Survivors including itself were enslaved and taken up to the rock and put to work, though It watched as many of It’s kind were killed or died of brutal treatment. It managed to escape, unlocking whatever powers the holy relic held, and has since swore a personal vow to hunt those slavers responsible and obtain revenge, and hopefully some measure of recompense for those lost. Star Wars (Based 5 years into Clone Wars I believe): Khor’ukrr was a young man in his tribe when tragedy struck. One night a mysterious person brought an injured woman to his tribe. The person seemed dangerous, but they could not willingly neglect this human woman who was grievously injured, so they took her in and did what they could for her. Days past, the dangerous one left. But one night another human entered the camp, and slaughtered everyone. Khor only managed to escape by being knocked unconscious, the scars of the attacker’s weapon, a blade made from a sun, still visible underneath his sacred wraps. He spent some time wandering the sands of Tatooine alone, knowing another clan of his people would not be willing to take in a young male warrior, competition against their own tribe. He spent some time with a tribe of Jawas, acting as bodyguard, learning to use some of the various technology the scavengers came across. But they parted peacefully when Khor eventually lost interest and felt a need to find a purpose in life again. He decided to seek out the causes of his tribe’s destruction, the man with the “sun” blade and the one who first brought this injured woman to his tribe. He traveled parts of the galaxy when he could, but years went by and no answers were ever found, the mysteries of the galaxy often confusing the sometimes naive tusken. He soon found this “sun” blade was not all that unique, and finding his quarry would prove difficult. He lost hope, and instead started to think of home, family, peace. He left for somewhere his skills could perhaps be used, a colony planet where those unfamiliar to the dangers of the wild would suffer. Perhaps filling this need would replace what has been missing for so long now.
Hi names shadow (23)and I'm looking to play a wild magic sorcerer! Since the whole magic is coming back thing I was kinda hoping to play my character in a way that would be like "oh hey magic, how do I uh control this?". I excel at using Avrae and I am super active on discord. I've ben playing d&d for about a year now and I have no trouble coming up with back stories. I just recently started dm-ing and could really use a game to just play in. I've tried west marches but personally I prefer story/character based gameplay.
Here's the backstory of wyatt:
Wyatt is currently a ward of the state. He discovered the use of magic. However unable to control it, it back fired killing the only person he's ever loved , his mother. Now he's sworn off using most magic and is running from the law as he is doing whatever it takes to get by. He's a a rather unhappy lad who lives with hobo's and bums
You can contact me via discord: Shad0wmasterg6#7000
It looks like your party may be full but if you still need one, someone drops or if you start another game with a new party let me know!
I played a lot in middle and high school but that has been a long, long time ago. The Spells, Swords and Stealth books got me interested in D&D again. My schedule is packed but I can always take out a few minutes here and there throughout the day for a pbp game, definitely can post morning and evening, probably at least one more time during the day on average. I am on Pacific time.
Character: always loved the dark Mage (hence my name) but am totally open to creating a new character and backstory based on the party’s need. If open, I am thinking of a human ranger who was left to die in the woods as a baby, taken in and raised by elves. She cannot and will not forget how she was left and even 20 years later she still wants to know why. Although a bit broader then a typical elf and with smooth ears, she identifies more with elves than humans. Magic? She has no use for magic unless it will help protect whose who inhabit the forest and nature.
Style: It has been a while, but back in the day we played a good mix of combat and role playing.
Thank you all for the applications, I'm closing that one.
I'll be PMing each one of you by the order of posting. If we go well, I'll be picking One player directly.
So that means two of you will be probably placed in a wait list, and that's the case if you didn't get a message. Once again thank you for your interests,
Best regards.
