The mage's new spell does not take effect, but you have learned something in the attempt ((next roll normal)) - it would not fill the whole cave, but a big enough arc for your purposes.
Shrutsena does risk a bit stepping out into casting position 13...
But manages to dodge the bonepuppets and get safe to continue thinking on matters arcane
This is a pretty defensible position - you can mostly shelter behind Gurag, and Vrawl can use his reach from behind. Jade cannot really attack without disrupting the defense, but she's watching your backs and enjoying the fresh air anyway.
Gurag and Vrawl can attack ((I'll handle for Veth if they're remain busy))
Gurag will raise his shield defensively while he examines the battlefield and see if there is some pattern to why the bones fall to dust (for example , sunlight and shadow?)
There is nothing particular: an upright one, usually further or less able to attack, decides to go dusty, and all the others reform. There are 4 stages of broken, dust shards broken and bone pile. Each moves one stage better each time one dusts. They only have one HP, but they break so easily damage only carries over on crits. Also you have deduced that the ultimate answer to life the universe and everything is 43.
Also you deduce the DM has been hinting that you could use some effing light and ought to check out the cave
Jade can see no enemies. The hillside is beautiful, facing southeast, late morning, far north but not arctic circle. You are going to have to go up or down, trying to head northeast like you need to won't work without a climb. More details when all are here.
Jade takes a look around, staying close to the entrance the others are still inside of, but doesn't go further afield. She would move back to the entrance once she has made sure nothing was going to ambush them as they exit. "coast is clear out here, any better in there yet?" She asks, her voice soft and musical as she steps back near the others.
Vrawl takes another shot at using plant magic 19...
Creating a viny whip and snapping one into its component bones over the top of Gurag
A laggart dusts itself and a few pop up, while the ones who formerly harassed Jade press toward your corner. 7 are upright, of those six have pulled themselves together early enough to press against Gurag's mighty defenses
((yes that would be 10 damage, if you roll > 15 just assume a 6+4=10 damage. Also if they were wearing armor you would have degraded it since you beat the target (13) by more than 5. Unfortunately these things have only 1 HP so all that excess is excess))
Making a push to give the magic users a shot, our warriors break two stickmen apart again. Vrawl tells his allies to get out - but come get him if this does not work
Atom Palm 25...
He lifts into the air, flies over the front rank of bone puppets and lands with his staff striking the ground. The rippling seismic burst breaks every one of the beeps. And he looks cool doing it.
There are no upright stickmen to recover the down ones - for the first time since who knows, no bonepiles try to stand
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Wowsers..." Jade says, suitably impressed. "That seems quite handy." She grins as she moves into the cave proper again. "Now what sort of treasure or secrets do you suppose such guardians were suppose to be protecting?" She asks as she starts to search the place a bit more carefully now that no bone puppets were attacking her.
After the bone-shattering interruption and the back-patting, Gurag gets his torch lit. Maybe Shrutsena creates a light bulb as well? With decent light the room target is a 12. Jade is a bit over-eager and unlucky, some details are lost forever, but not to drag it out:
There is cave art in charcoal along the side walls, Hominid figures standing high above animals. There are more than 12 figures - maybe 40, added over time to the background animals. Best you can conclude is some People, you cannot tell which ones, used this cave for burial. The bones that make the stickmen were not theirs, maybe offerings or totems? Why only 12 animated you can't tell, but there is no sign of the actual bodies. This place is OLD; a sketch seem to show stalactites and stalagmites not yet joined rather than the solid columns you see now, and the back passage you came through as a small impassable hole.
Speaking of which, looking in, that back chamber a fairly cylindrical, carved by water and melt-freeze cycles. The back wall looks like it was roughly smoothed from behind and has a seven-pointed star drawn on a flat spot in the center. A reminding flashback
I’ll portal you to a cave about 10 miles from Her fenceline. Closest ethereal point that ain’t Hers... When you got what you need and done what you need to, get back to the cave and trace the pattern on the star – start one point left of the top, then drag a finger 1 left, 3 right, 5 left, 2 right, full circle left, 1 right. That’ll send you to my hut and if you done right we’ll fix you up if you need it... I don’t know what’s in the cave or what’s between it and Her Domain....
Anything before you head outside?

Having accidentally brushed against some of the wall art, Jade grimaces as she smudged some of the designs. "Sorry about that." She says with a frown. She pushes a hand through her ebony hair as she finishes the review of the cave. "Well, we found the star, so guess we just as well head out and see about doing the task given us..." Jade says, having regained some of her sassy attitude after the blunder with the wall drawings.

Gurag lightly touches the drawings, curious if these ancient peoples are any relation to him. He sweeps the ground a little to see if there is any place that burials might have been convenient. If he finds nothing, he will depart the caves with the others.
The mysterious tomb refuses to give up mysteries. But Gurag has spirits lifted by the glory of northern summer. With such a short growing season life explodes, and the days are long. There are, however, bugs - fortunately more swarmy than bitey. It is quite warm now, the clouds from earlier rain are clearing. Seven-eye gave you rainskins not furs, plus whatever the smelly bundles were.
You are on a southeast facing slope and you can see you must be on the eastern foothills of some mountain. Looking to northeast where you are going, it looks like this slope fades into level ground in a few miles, but only after getting more cliff-like first. Behind you southwest there are a couple miles of similar slope with more caves, before becoming mountainous. So you will have to climb up or down in order to go where you are headed.
Up looks easier by a little, but you cannot see what the path would be like from below. Down, you would start to run into denser vegetation, and it looks a bit boggy, but mostly flat at least, at the bottom.
And Gurag, though happy to see the sun, is still injured.

yeah Gurag still takes 6 damage

Deciding this isn't the answer, he'll try and leave the cave and see if the sunlight is any help against these things.
Jade switches to her bow and shoots an arrow at one of the puppets, staying outside of the cave.
To hit: 15 Damage: 3
Injured but still strong, Gurag will swipe at one of the bone puppets.
Attack: 21 Damage: 5
If possible, he will exchange his hammer for a torch. "Can anyone give me a light?"
Is that max damage for rolling over 15 on my attack?

"So that's how the spell works, always wanted to try it." Vrawl seems a little surprised.
(Thanks for covering for me.)
