Hi. I have been playing D&D for over a year and want to give DM-ing play-by-post a shot.

- This game will be async play-by-post only (No voice or video chat, No VTT). - I will paste images and tactical maps with tokens when appropriate. - This game will move to Discord once filled (server still TBD). - Characters will need to be created in DndBeyond or DiceCloud (For Avrae integration). - Session 0 target date is Jan 16. - Players who haven’t played the adventure before are preferred.
Number of players:
- 4 players
Posts frequency:
- Approximately one post/day (Sun-Thu) - Off Fri-Sat. - When on initiative, we might schedule higher daily posts frequency. - No-stress
House rules:
- Exhaustion triggers at 1 HP (from damage OR healing) and for loosing half max HP in a single blow. - Characters will be built at session 0. - One inspiration available for death saves.
Game material:
- This game will simply use the Basic Rules.
Character creation:
- Players will roll for a secret, background, flaw and trinket before building their character. - Players can then choose remaining background trait, ideal & bond from their background. - Players will start at level 1. - We will roll for stats at session 0.
Session 0:
- Starts on Jan 16. - You will roll and complete building of your characters. - We will discuss the campaign. - We will also discuss code of conduct, safety and rating (PG13-R).
How to join:
1- Please post your rolls here for secrets(D20), background(D6), flaw (D6) and trinket (D100) and I will PM you the descriptions. 2- Post in this thread what type of player you are ( https://www.darkshire.net/jhkim/rpg/theory/models/robinslaws.html ) (No wrong answer here!) 3- Provide a short introduction for your char physical appearance in this thread 4- Roleplay a sentence of what your character might say based on his rolled background and secrets in this thread.
No classes choices and ability rolls yet please! :)
We will start with the simple goal of completing chapter 1 and take it from there afterwards.
I am interested and have never played 5e before - old school 3.5, 3.0, and 2nd Ed. back in the day.
Secret: 13 Background: 2 Flaw: 2 Trinket: 15
Storyteller / Specialist
Klarion is a grey-skinned Tiefling with golden eyes and a wickedly friendly smile. He is slender, 5'10", and around 160lbs. His horns are black with striations of brown and grey. They are long and magnificent, sweeping horizontally a full foot backwards bowing outwardly then coming back towards one another; they resemble a dark halo from his brow.
"Don't worry friend, we have worked together far too long for me to leave you rotting here in this jail cell. However, I do not have the coin to bail you out. Did you have anything stored away that I can get for you.. to pay for your release? You can trust me."
Background Trait 1: The first thing I do in a new place is note the locations of everything valuable—or where such things could be hidden. Background Trait 2: I always have a plan for what to do when things go wrong. Background Ideal: Freedom. Chains are meant to be broken, as are those who would forge them. Background Bond: I practically grew up in taverns - dives and distinguished. They are my spiritual center, and whenever I find myself in a new town they are always the first place I seek.
I will fill out the rest as we go :) are there racial restrictions or books we have to use? I am open to all DM rulings :) and the exhaustion rule is cool.
storyteller tactician type sprinkled in a bit of power gamer due to enjoying understanding the system mechanics in a game. I however use a ask the accept the answer style of interaction, and am not an optimizer because I will often take skills that are more in line with the character than purely power (example taking mind sliver over toll the dead for a psionic type character )
I enjoy creating a unique character but make it a point that they always take calls to action, and enjoy team dynamics, as well as understanding their role in the group
…
Aluss Mindstone stood 4’6”, and thinks himself a giant. A deep gnome with Well kept curly hair hiding his intellect, as does a well practiced smile and sense of slightly dark humor hide his despair. He enjoyed wearing a robe, into which he had added an inner pocket that kept a quill & ink, a handkerchief, along with a little pad for note keeping, as well as a toolbelt for what the circumstances may need. Calculating but personable, One could see that though Aluss held and dressed himself like an intellectual, and speaking and moving with grace and learnedness, his weathered hands and skin reveal many years of manual labor and harsh conditions deep in the mountains. Brave beyond his stature, Aluss has nothing to loss, and everything to gain.

”what strength cannot handle, our minds may solve; and if not the mind, then our resolve. I did not come this far to turn back now, and regret for a lifetime what we might have done, had we not been cowards.”
I'm definitely somewhere in-between Storyteller and Method Actor. I'm an actor in real-life, and often the Forever-DM of my friend group, but in both pursuits the most important thing is cooperation with your fellow players to bring forth the best that a project can be!
I love making strong choices with new characters' personalities, and exploring the implications of their race/class/backstory in the societies they find themselves in. I am NOT a fan of "iT's wHaT mY cHaRaCtEr wOuLd dO!" style logic that drives the narrative to a screeching halt and creates party drama.
Ardar Shisk is a 5'6" tan-and-weathered-skinned Human with a messy brown beard and short-cropped hair. Though not particularly tall, his broad shoulders and stubborn demeanor tend to make an impression... as does the general stink of spilled ale on his clothes and armor.
A perceptive observer might note a number of scratched-off symbols on said armor as well.
"If you're lookin' for a 'Hero' to do your dirty-work pro-bono, look elsewhere. I've had my fill of roads to the Hells paved with 'Good Intentions.'Goodintentions don't put a roof over your head or armor on your back. Pony up some coin, and we'll see where that gets you."
lol forward to playing with you if I am selected :)
“Scutch” is a 3’4” Stout Halfling who has reddish-brown hair and bright blue eyes. His hair is high and tight and he is clean shaven. His hands are calloused and his forearms are sturdy after working the clan farms growing up before forging his own life.
I am a mix of storyteller and butt-kicker.
”Is it really breaking and entering if they don’t lock the door? I don’t think it is…Now, why did we break in here for again?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

I'd say I'm a story teller with a bit of tactician. Overall, I play to RP and tell a story and try to make a "real" person in a "real" world, but I also like strategizing. However, contrary to the tactician archetype, I value acting out character flaws and making IC mistakes over optimal actions.
Magrinde "Maggie" Ironbrew is a stocky, ruddy Mountain Dwarf. She wears her frayed hair in a simple bun to keep it out her her face. Her fingernails are short and always dirty, her hands are callused and rough, and her clothes are better suited for potatoes than a sentient being.
"They took everything I had. Again. After all I've done for 'em. Well, I'm done with this place; better to try my luck on the frontier than live here any longer."

I roll the backgrounds and trinket from this material. You can then choose the other traits and ideal.
I sent you the descriptions of what you rolled by PM.
