For those of you who have WIP characters (still missing backstory etc, or placeholder posts) make sure you post to let me know when you've added your character so that I don't miss it. I'm getting lots of messages and interest in this so I don't want to accidentally skip someone!

Character proposal: A human leather worker who joined the military after saving his home village. He died trying to defend the unicorns but was brought back to restore balance to the world
Character name: Johnathan Krembleback
Race: Human
Class and subclass: Warlock (the undying)
Backstory: Johnathan worked for most of his life as a leather worker for his village. He didn’t have much of a passion for it, but wanted to make his family proud by following in their footsteps. This all changed when the world descended into madness. His village was under attack by a goblin clan. Johnathan jumped into action and helped fight back the goblin raid. After he succeeded, he decided he wanted to help restore the world to what it once was and left to join the army.
He was at the battle where the unicorns were cornered by the lord of darknesses minions and he fought to save them. He unfortunately was outmatched by the overwhelming amount of hobgoblins and was killed trying to defend the unicorns, and thus his story should have ended. But as his spirit was drifting to the afterlife, Kelemvor, god of the dead, spoke to Johnathan. He offered him a second chance to defend the world and stop the darkness from blackening the sun. He warned however that there are consequences for coming back to life. Now Johnathan walks the mortal world once again and is now trying to stop the armies of darkness from ruling it.
Rum, short for Rumble of Hunger, was born under an auspicious sky and great things were prophesied for him. For this reason he was sought out by monks from a secluded monastery and invited to attend. This was an honour among Tabaxi, and his parents reluctantly agreed.
His training began from a young age, and his mind and body were honed with one goal in mind. Enlightenment. The monks venerated an ancient dragon whose teachings foretold of the ability to transcend ones physical form and become one with the universe.
When the call came out from the Childlike Empress seeking heroes to defend the world, the monks decided they had an obligation to respond. They set about a series of trials for the eligible monks to take part in, to show which was the most capable of undertaking the journey.
The final test was to stand in the dragon cave and commune with the great dragon itself. Rum was one of the monks that made it this far, and whilst he stood before the giant skull he had an unstoppable urge to touch it, something that was forbidden for all but the elders. When he did so, visions swam in his mind and his body felt like it turned to fire, then ice, then energy.
He fell unconscious and had to be removed from the cave by other monks. He remained in this state for many days, and when he awoke the elders had chosen their representative and they had left for the Ivory Tower.
Upset about this and knowing he was destined for more, Rum snuck away from the monastery that night intending to reach the Ivory Tower himself.
I love your worldbuilding and D&D philosophy! Here's my application :)
Character Proposal: A wizard often mistaken for a fighter due to the armor he equips and the scars he wears all over his body.
Name- Ro Aleron the False Knight
Race- Mountain Dwarf (flavoring as half dwarf and half human)
Class and Subclass- Wizard (Order of Scribes)
Backstory-
I am the eldest son of the Aleron Family. The Alerons are well known for their long lineage of accomplished knights. My parents, Paul and Jezebel Aleron, once served in an elite unit and have worked diligently to further raise the Aleron name.
My parents wanted sons who could continue their legacy. As a child, I first learned how to walk and then how to wield a sword. However, despite my best efforts, the sword was never a strong suit of mine. I was quickly surpassed by my younger brothers, Lyle and Jonathon.
I spent the majority of my teen years chasing after my younger brothers. I joined them on missions, but always ended up being a liability. My parent’s patience with my growth wore thin, and my brothers began to decline my participation on quests. Rumors began to spread about Ro, the weak link of the Aleron family. I began to develop an inferiority complex.
Although I was loved by my family, I could always feel the uncomfortable distance between us. I began to withdraw from others and turned to books and crafts as my comfort. One day, I stumbled across an awakened spellbook who called himself Kazek. He was a prideful book that held sympathy for me and taught me in the ways of magic. Although I find his personality a little harsh at times, we have forged a strong friendship.
When I became more proficient with spellcasting, I told my family of my new capabilities. I was thrilled at the thought of finally being useful and contributing to the Aleron family name. However, instead of excitement my family only had concern. My parents didn’t want me to hurt myself on the battlefield, nor did my brothers want to risk bringing me along on another mission.
My father told me I didn’t have to worry about the duties of the Aleron family, and that I should live my own life. Each of my family members tried to comfort me, but it fell on deaf ears. I could ignore the rumors of outsiders, but hearing my own family disqualify my capabilities stung deep.
I didn’t want to further drag my family’s name through the mud so I left the household. If I couldn’t accomplish anything there, then maybe elsewhere. If I could build a reputation for myself, then maybe I would no longer be a stain to the family name.
Character proposal : A disowned prince hears the call of the childlike Empress and makes his way to the Ivory Tower
Name : Kerwyn
Race : Variant Human (undecided on feats, but one likely being Sharpshooter)
Class : Fighter, Eldritch Knight. Fights with a "glaive" that he has a weapon bond with, returns to his hand
Background :
Kerwyn grew up in a small town near the Castle Eternia. He never knew his parents, was left on the doorstep of the priest of the border of the Faron woods. He was wrapped in blankets and the only thing on him was a strange necklace, in a circle with spokes.
He grew up and discovered that he was strong, gifted with speed to run, strength in his arms, and an uncanny eye and throwing ability. He was not gifted in memorization of prayers and copying of scrolls. He was skilled in sport and became a warrior to protect their town from raids by orcs and goblins. He always felt that he was meant for something more. His prowess with the blade and arrow, throwing knives was improving day by day, but he also uncovered underlying, unusual magical abilities as well.
One day when he was making a journey to Castle Eternia with some of his friends, taking in the sights he noted the symbol on his necklace, met with a scholar there who informed him that this was a powerful symbol, that the spires of this symbol could turn into a weapon in the right hands, a symbol that went back for ages past in the family of the rulers of Eternia. That evening as he was considering the words of the sage he was toying with it and discovered that it could detach from his necklace and blades could fly out, turning into a weapon that he could throw. He felt that there was more to his background that met the eye and began to study the martial arts and magic even more.
When the call came out across the lands for heroes to make way to the Ivory Tower in Fantasia, there was no question in Kerwyn's mind what he was to do. He gathered his possessions and made his way across the Narrow Sea, looking to discover his true powers and help the kingdom and the Empress as he could.
Character Proposal:A hero who does not know how or why he has attained his powers, but has decided to use them for good. He disguises as a traveling musician but actually takes jobs to help those in need along with just helping regardless, accepting food and shelter as payment.
Name- Ralik Two Knives
Race- Human Variant ( Duel Wielder)
Class and Subclass- Hexblade Warlock (Pack of the Blade)
Backstory- Ralik Was raised in Gerudo Desert by Gerudo women warriors as an adopted son. He didn't seem to be much of a warrior until his powers started to manifest, proving his prowess to the tribe. Ralik's kind heart was somewhat hardened by those that raised him, but deep down he was always kind hearted. This outlook caused a division between him and his adoptive mothers. Eventually he decided to make his own way and left his home desert behind to travel, bringing help and a good tune with him where ever he roams.
Extra Feat: Fighter Initiate ( Two Weapon Fighting ) Items: Winged Boots and Amulet of the Dark Crystal (Homebrew item that allows the user to see normally in magical and non-magical Darkness up to 120ft )
Here is the Character Sheet. I just put 10's for the stats until we figure that out, otherwise it has everything I need in there, ready and good to go.
When the entire world gets into an arms race, it seems war is inevitable. Are they really too blind to notice the real danger? All those leaders of powerful armies, nations or other kinds of forces, none seem to realise the real threat of the Nothing. It doesn't matter who is more powerful nor who controls more land if the land is gone.
Yam is a female Dwarf who wants no part in fighting. Labeled as the "Emissary of Peace" by several Dwarven clans, she had acted as a mediator to end several conflicts in the past. One such conflict started with the appearance of Nothin on the border between two neighbouring clans. Each claimed the other created the Nothing - surely some kind of weapon - to destroy the other. That was the first time Yam seen or heard of this Nothing. However, a mere look at it was enough to install fear in her heart. It wasn't a weapon, nor darkness, nor any kind of monster. Just... nothing.
How come nobody tries to stop it? How come they're all busy fighting one another? Though she's aware this is well over her head, Yam couldn't keep silent. Someone must raise awareness about this. It doesn't matter who one was, what they did or whom they served. All that matters is what will they do now. She's willing to accept help from anyone and anything, so long as Nothing is stopped before nothing is left.
(I'm ready to work on more details if chosen, but that's the general concept for now. Also, though Yam might seem like a pacifist, and she more or less is, that does not mean she's going to sit out of fights and be a burden. Rather, she's just more likely to seek peace first, and her contribution in combat might... not be what a usual Paladin does.)
Lots of good submissions so far. I'll be going through these most recent ones in about 6 hours or so.
We are getting pretty full so if anyone else is still working on a submission you may want to get it in soon. We are filling spots faster than I previously anticipated. =)
I am sorry for being so late. Here is my character. Hope I still make it in time.
Character proposal : A nomadic warrior who worthships Luck Dragons as her totem.
Name- Atoh
Race- Ghostwise Halfling
Class and Subclass- Ranger: Drakewarden
Backstory:
Thunder and wind comes from heaven, the place where our ancestors and dragons live…
The legend said, a long time ago, a white dragon descended from heaven, met a blue wolf and fell in love with him. Their children became the Khun, the small people who lived in the Grassland hunting buffalos, breeding Barometz and fighting with the dreadful Manticōras.
The nobles of the Khun had a strange power. Through ritual, they could summon the younglings of Luck Dragons and make special bonds with them. But after the destruction of the Crystal of Truth, summoning dragons became harder and harder. And their draconic companions became smaller and weaker each year. When the youngest child of the chieftain performed the ritual, the Khuns were surprised to find the dragon's fur was black, despite the normal Luck Dragons being white.
The child, Atoh left her family and homeland with her loyal little dragon. The outside world is wild and dangerous. She wants to know why the Grassland is dying, where the dragons are gone… and most importantly how to fix them all.
I am still accepting applications as of right now. I would prefer that people post at least once every day or two if possible. I think that race should be fine.
Character Proposal: A lost girl, one that wants to find herself as well as a purpose in life.
Name- Shavaris Arnuanna
Race- Elf
Class and Subclass- Rogue (phantom)
Backstory- Shavaris's sister is dead. How did it happen? Shavaris doesn't know. All she recalls is that she was with her when it happened and now her sister is dead and Shavaris feels different. Something doesn't feel right, but that's not important is it? She needs to find out what happened to her sister and then what? She doesn't know yet. They were on the job to steal a moonstone, one that was bigger than an ogre's head and honestly, she has no idea what happened to that either. One moment the two elves were both in the house, looking at their prize, contemplating their move and the next? She is now lost in unfamiliar woods with the knowledge her sister is gone. She needs to find a direction before this consumes her.
(sorry for the delay in applying, was trying to figure the way I wanted to go, hope it works in your plan!)
Character proposal : A curious and naïve creature. It is eager to help bring back the "light". There can be no shadows without light. And just think of what he can find along the way!
Name- Jek Utinni
Race- Lightless
Class and Subclass- Sorcerer: Shadow Magic
Backstory: Jek's clan were nomadic scavengers in the Shem Desert (think Jawa's). The elders felt the shift in the magic. They feared the Nothing above all else. If there was no light and darkness, there could be no shadows, without shadows, how could they exist? The elders, realizing that they must aid this world as much as the other races, asked for volunteers to leave the shelter of the caravan and go into the wider world. Those wanderers were tasked with helping those that would fight against the Nothing.
Jek jumped at the opportunity. Jek was one of the youngest of his kind, although not entirely sure how old he actually was. While others had left and returned on pilgrimages, he never had the opportunity. He has dreamed of leaving the Shem Desert, to see what was beyond the dunes. The parts and trinkets they scavenged were amazing, but he wished to see what else there was in this world. Now he learns that not only can he leave, but he can go aid in saving the world? That is just amazing! Think of all the things he can see and find along the way.
Wrapping himself in the shadows that surround him, he picks a direction that feels right, and goes off into the unknown.
