This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Plenty of time has passed since the last post. I'll go ahead and play Tessa's turn.)
'The fight is almost over, we've got the upper hand,' Tessa thinks to herself. Seeing that the remaining two goblins are slowly being encroached on, she rushes ahead to goblin 2 and tries to deal a decisive blow with her rapier.
Attack Rapier: 26 Damage: 15
Edit: (Since she has Lucky as a racial trait, she can reroll the natural 1's on attack rolls. Also, the manipulated dice warning is because I accidentally rerolled damage on the rerolled attack and deleted it afterward.)
Attack Rapier: 8
The goblin's heart is pierced by the rapier. He dies on the spot.
Remaining: Goblin (4) - Hurt
(Round 3) (Maris, Teslyn, Duncan to go in any order)
Maris will also attack the goblin. If it's dead already, he'll just look for the apple he just threw.
Maris easily finds his lost apple, although a bit dustier now.
With the goblins defeated, the party can finally find a moment of respite. Due to your passive perceptions, something catches your eyes rather quickly: firstly, there are signs of a previous struggle around here, and secondly, strange marks on the ground seem to indicate that something or someone has been forcefully dragged away from the road in the northern direction.
There's no sign of either Sildar or Gundren, and no possession of theirs has been left behind, except for the emptymap case.
Maris spins his backpack to his front to stow the apple. With the adrenaline subsiding, he twinges and notices the small gash in his right leg and fiddles with the slash in his pant leg.
"These pants fit perfectly, too" He laments. He surveys the rest of the party. "Aww was I the only one hurt?! You know what? No! I'm fine."
He takes some time with the party as he surveys the area, his eyes settling on the horses. He checks their bodies and attempts to determine how long ago they died. Medicine Check: 21

With his good understanding of the medical sciences, Maris finds that the horses have been dead for about a day or so based on a few different factors such as body heat and the state of their wounds.

Duncan stowing his two hand axes looks to his two companions standing next to him and gives a small nod. He looks towards Lillian and speaks up "you remind me of my first times being out in a real fight before, is this your first as well?" as he starts to turn away keeping an ear facing in your direction as he gets down to start inspecting the tracks to see where they go (Survival check17)
(OOC: Thanks for botting... On weekends I have a bit different schedule. And thanks for remembering the Lucky trait ^^)
"Nasty creatures..."Tessa mutters, and wipes the goblin blood off his sword before sheathing the weapon.
"I suppose these goblins killed the horses, as well. And these tracks here... Something has been dragged through here. Could it be Sildar and Gundren?"
The halfling studies the track to the north, but her understanding of tracks doesn't tell her any more. "Sooo... Should we follow these tracks, or take our cargo to Phandalin?" she asks the others.

The tracks seem to lead into a northern part of the road, through the thicket. As Duncan unravels the natural curtain of leaves and branches, he happens to find a hidden trail. It also seems that multiple goblins have passed through here, indicating that these roadside attacks might be quite common in these parts.
"I'd normally continue onward, but the person we promised to do this for may be in a heap of trouble. Maybe we can find somewhere to hide the cart an oxen while we look around. The road isn't too trafficked."

Lillian looks somewhat embarrassed. "Sorry I was not more effective. This was my first real fight against moving targets that fought back. For what it is worth, I agree that we should see if we can find any trace of Gundren before moving on."
"Well, don't rush off. Looks like they're about a day or so ahead of us. I didn't want to say it, but these horses do look familiar."
Maris thinks, If we're not going to get paid by the dwarf, these goblins at least owe me a new pair of pants. And Maris will look for one of their belongings, like a weapon or armor that could be traded for a new set of clothing.
"Well then we must be a day and a half faster!" Duncan exclaims while cocking his crossbow and preparing a bolt. "This way," he states finding the hidden trail "I'd rather save them then a few gold pieces. I'll take point"
Duncan will then prepare to follow the trail checking first to see who will be following.

Scattered on the ground are some old scimitars, low quality shortbows and arrows. You figure you could sell a scimitar or two with a bit of effort.
Whoever wishes to find a good spot to hide the cart in, as Teslyn suggested, may roll a survival or perception check. I assume the party aids the search, so they can roll with advantage.
Other than that, Duncan has decided to lead the party down the trail. In which order will the others follow? (I can appoint an order to speed things up otherwise)
Maris sees the dwarf run off. He snags a scimitar and sticks it into his belt. He trots to the cart.
"Someone keep an eye on him. I'll catch up." Maris calls out. He pets the ox on the head and grabs the reigns, leading the team to a cozy spot on the side of the road.

Perception/Survival is the same for me. 14
It takes Maris just a moment to find a good spot somewhere in the thicket. He also attempts to cover it with foliage and branches and it turns out to be pretty well hidden.
"Very good. Let's find out if Gundren is all right."
While Maris is leading the ox to the hiding place, Tessa grabs a selection of scimitars and bows from the ground and tosses them to the cart.
"Maybe the horses should be moved as well. But perhaps we can do that later." Tessa remarks, mostly to herself. Then she hustles after Duncan, trying to catch up with the dwarf.
(OOC: Duncan leads. Someone with fast legs and fighting skill could be in the rear (Maris?). Tessa could be second from the front.)
The goblin takes his tongue out, taunting Lillian as her attack misses him once more.
(Yeah, it happens and it sucks. Better rolls should come soon.
I just realised I forgot to give goblin 4 disadvantage from Vicious Mockery when he attacked Teslyn. Fortunately he did not hit, but my bad anyway)

(No worries.)
If the party wishes to explore the trail, think about who is going to lead the expedition (marching order).
