(What is the general terrain? I am considering using minor illusion to create cover for haldir but need a reference of what would look natural, or if there are trees nearby to just shoot and take natural cover.)
You are in a small valley surrounded by rolling, grass-covered hills. Some rocks and stunted trees can be seen, but other than thick grasses nothing but you, the bugbears, and the entrance to the tunnel is visible.
Rhi sprints to the bugbear as he raises his morningstar and throws a quick bone crushing blow to the solar plexus and strikes with his axe to the face of the ugly beast.
Dire falls to the ground despite Rhi's killing of the bugbear. Two bodies now lay at the bird-man's feet.
The bugbears come running down the hill. Just as they get into melee range, Joe holds out his Cloud Medallion and says, "I wish you would stop and go home!" A strong light encompasses the bugbears. When it dissipates, the bugbears blink in shock and awe, drop their weapons, then wander away from both the entrance to the tunnel and the hill they had come over.
Haldir readies an action to shoot any enemies to gets to his normal range of 80ft

If it goes off… Attack: 19 Damage: 8
As the bugbear gets closer, Haldir shoots and . . . misses.

Haldir rushes off to one side looking for some cover and then takes another crossbow shot at the closest bugbear:
Attack: 9 Damage: 11
The bugbear takes a nearly fatal hit from Dire's rapier, manages to gather enough strength to attack with his morningstar.
Attack: 21 Damage: 10
The bugbear's attack hits . . . or does it? Haldir and Rhi, you have a chance to hit the bugbear before its attack.
That was a mighty blow. And even with Stone Endurance he still succumbed to the strike and fell.
