I'm looking to playtest a homebrew world I built. I plan to keep this fairly short before transitioning to a more traditional online game or an in person one. But, if the PbP game goes fairly well, I will consider extending it. If I do start up a weekly campaign following this, anyone who plays will be invited. I am able to do a few posts a day at the moment, but for combat situations I can post more frequently as those are typically quicker and more formulaic. Technologically, this world is similar to our around the year 1900 with some differences that are laid out in the world book pdf. Google Drive with pdf and maps
The pdf within the Google Drive is lengthy and mostly there for myself. I in no way expect anyone to read it as it is written like an encyclopedia and therefore quite boring. I only ask that you at least read the last two pages, Player Creation and House Rules, as well as the brief sentence or two about the race you intend to play. Quick note about ability scores, in the pdf it says that ability scores will be generated by rolling 2d6+6, but for the sake of ease in a forum based game we'll just use the dice roller provided here.
Your characters will start off in the Skallbrekkan capital of Longhein. You are hired as escorts for a dwarven survey team looking to establish a new silver mine in the Stolsheim mountains north of the capital. You are to be paid 500gp each upon reaching the prospective mine and 500gp upon return. The journey is likely to be dangerous as there are giants, dragons, and other beasts that live in these mountains. And not to mention the disappearances of goliath tribes north of the Jotunheim.
I do have all the books and once your invited to a campaign, you'll have access to all of them.
Please fill out an application below. I will close applications on Monday morning and pick shortly there after via a random number generator. Feel free to message me with any questions you may have.

I'm very interested in this and have several possible character ideas, I am actually currently reading the doc so I can fine-tune or change some of them. I will either update or make a new post when I've decided what I will be pitching, but I'm fine with changing if it's needed.
Your Name and Preferred Pronouns: He/Him Character Name: Xilbella Eagershine Character Race: High Elf Character Class/Subclass: Rogue (Phantom) Backstory: Xilbella hlives in Hibernia, the capital. She has always had a link to those recently departed, able to hear whispers from beyond the grave, and tap into those whispers to gain knowledge and skills not her own. She is a hunter and tracker, seeking out those who would defy death and try to live past what is alotted to each person. When not performing that duty though she still needs coin to live on, so takes jobs where and as needed.
D&D Experience: Been playing since 3.5, so more than 20 years.

Character Name: Ardyn Fairborn
Character Race: human
Character Class/Subclass: Sorcerer/ Draconic bloodline
Backstory: (Can be as brief or as lengthy as you wish) ]:Ardyn Fairborn was born in a small village, the second child of a merchant who settled there. . Even as a child he was never content with the peaceful and quiet life that the village offered, and had no interest in the family business. Ardyn would often abandon his chores to sneak out and explore the areas outside the village, much to his parent's dismay. . Once he reached adulthood he decided it was time for him to leave home to see more of the world.
D&D Experience: (No experience is needed. I am more than happy helping new players, but as this game will start at level 3 it might be harder for new players) I’ve been playing D&D for about five years
Your Name and Preferred Pronouns: Servo (She/They, IDC which you really use) D&D Experience: Quite a bit, I've been playing for a couple of years now, including a lot of time spent playing online. Ability Scores: 151214151612
I have a couple of character concepts I could do. Character Name: Sennia Hatteria Character Race: Human Character Class/Subclass: Crown Paladin Backstory: Sennia was once a bodyguard to a semi-high ranking noble (Equivalent to a countess?) in Nadir, with whom she also had a decidedly un-bodyguardish romantic relationship (Perhaps one of the parents knew and approved, your call). One day, during the moving and shaking of the two companies competing with each other, Sennia was forced into hiding as agents assaulted her charge's house. To this day, Sennia hopes that she is still alive, but she doesn't quite know.
Character Name: Nornys (LN TBD) Character Race: Half-elf Character Class/Subclass: EK Fighter Backstory: Nornys was just a normal farmhand when she signed up to join Cantabria's army, but she turned out to be something of a natural at using two-handed weapons during training, particularly big ones like greatswords. While she was sent to Easingwold as part of an effort to once again fend off Thandur and Snydlairt, a very nice halfling showed her some secret magic that allowed her to stow her sword away and summon it when needed, making sure she would always be armed. Another time, she was speaking with a wizard in her company, and managed to figure out some put-together spells that would also let her augment her attacks, imbuing them with icy power. Even after her time serving was completed, She continued to hone this skill as she sold her skills, no longer content to be a fieldhand.
Character Name: Gos "Ant" Character Race: Goblin Character Class/Subclass: Gunslinger Fighter Backstory: Gos tried to live in the Dead Lands by taking life one step at a time until they (specifics TBD) managed to scavenge an old, crappy pistol off a corpse left over from a Nadiran squad killed on the border. Suddenly, life didn't need to happen one step at a time, it could happen 30 or more feet at a time. It might have been rusted and second-rate, but Gos managed to make that gun work as much as it physically could. Eventually, they even managed to secure passage out of the country under the tutelage of an older gunsmith who saw potential in this goblin go-getter, ready to scrap for whatever was needed. In addition to learning how to make and maintain firearms from the gunsmith, Gos also learned how to maintain the ships they traveled on, earning the nickname Ant in the process: small, but constantly working on and fixing something.
Also, I've got the Tal'dorei Reborn campaign book, so if any of y'all have it as well and want to use it just let me know and we can add those feats, backgrounds, and subclasses to meet your character ideal
Your Name and Preferred Pronouns: Vos - he/him/his Ability Scores: 171116131413 Character Name: Lord Krish Orgosh Character Race: Orc Character Class/Subclass: Fighter Background: Noble Backstory: The Orgosh family have been purveyors of one of the oldest martial training academies in Nadir, The Orgoshi War College. Their school has taught the arts of war for over 400 years. Their estate - a sprawling plantation campus of two-story buildings encircling a main central training yard - is also a horse ranch. It sits near the market town of [You Tell Me] at the foot of the Zarakthul Mountains, West of Lochner. However, in recent years the academy has somewhat slipped into decline - a state they are loath to admit - as nations have developed their own war colleges with the advent of newer technologies. Fewer and fewer families have sent their sons and daughters, at great expense, simply for prestige. Though the academy is not destitute, and still houses many cadets, it is at its lowest enrollment in two centuries. As a middle child, and second son, Krish has decided to strike out and find gameful employment, hoping to make a name for himself, send money back home, and ultimately reinvigorate the reputation of his family's academy. D&D Experience: Very
Character Name: Hush Character Race: Kalashtar Character Class/Subclass: Monk/Way of Mercy Backstory: As a baby, his village was attacked by a storm demon that wiped out everyone except him. When a retired monk came through the village she started to bury the dead. Upon searching for bodies, she saw a glowing light from a fallen house. Under the wreckage she found a baby . To her surprise, the glow was coming form the child. Picking up the child she saw a red birthmark on his back of a rising sun. Realizing this was a sign from her god and she took the child and raised him to her last days. He now ventures and seeks to help others.

The train was to transport passengers and people sometimes go to see him as he was novel and interesting. Unfortunally a group of bandits held up the train and Conductor set up a turrent to prevent hijacking the train. The bandits were killed but instead of being greatful, people feared him and the company that owned the train was going to scrap him. Fearing for his life and well being he hijacked an empty train and traveled as far as he can away from them. He got off the train and let it set, hopping from carriage to carriage to get away. Your Name and Preferred Pronouns: Theenglishslug, He/Him Ability Scores: Ability scores: 111016171318 Character Name: Erskine Flintwalker Thulakane Character Race: Goliath Character Class/Subclass: Druid (Wildfire) Backstory: Erskine hails from the deep north of Skallbrekka, where the mountains touch the sea. He earned the name Flintwalker for his uncanny ability to start and maintain fires during even the most savage storms. One night while out tending the communication beacon fire of his current settlement, he was set upon by a mysterious unseen force. In a fit of terror, a small mote of fire emerged from his chest and took the form a sturdy mountain goat, protecting him from the attack and saving his life. Since that day, he has promised to take care of "Little Horn" and stoke the fire within him to help the little goat spirit grow. Due to his ability to create warm comfortable fires and protect and heal those of his clan, he was tasked by the leaders of his clan with shepherding several of the survivors of the recent attacks south to safety. He intends to grow his connection to the eternal flame within him so that he might be strong enough to prevent these attacks from happening and save his people D&D Experience: I've been playing DnD for about 4 years now, and have taken part in a couple pbp games before.
Thanks everyone for applying. I've already sent everyone a message who was selected via the generator. If I end up starting another campaign, I'll make sure to reach out to those who didn't get randomly drawn first.

It's a homebrew world, so nothing from the Forgotten Realms is in this campaign.
Absolutely. We can work on the details of where later
