Hello all! I'm interested in starting up a relatively short PbP campaign here using the Frozen Sick adventure! I am especially interested in those that are still relatively new to D&D but anyone is welcome! This adventure does take place in the world of Critical Role, but that is NOT necessary to understand in order to take part in the adventure, but if you watched Season 2 then you may enjoy reliving the setting.
For simplicity's sake, I would prefer characters with more flexible backstories, as the adventure is fairly short anyway. However, there are some options for those that may wish to continue using their character later and want to start with a more developed history. If so, please note that when mentioning your interest and we can discuss it.
All players will start at level 1, and will reach level 3 by the end of the adventure. We can take 4-6 players at most, though 4 or 5 is probably ideal for this.
Some general options taken:
-Milestone Leveling
-No feats at level 1
-Any class/race in official content allowed
-Standard Array or Point Buy for stats.
-All general starting equipment allowed
There will be (hopefully) a good blend of Roleplay, Combat, and Exploration with a dose of semi-realism.
Something is killing people in Palebank Village, and if the characters don’t stop it, they might be next. “Frozen Sick” is an adventure that takes characters to the continent’s Biting North region—the bleak arctic realms of the Greying Wildlands and Eiselcross.
Backstory: Growing up, Ludwin learned the best way to earn money for his family was with a sweet smile and quick fingers. Be it gold, food, or blackmail, he did all he could to support his mother (Philomena), two younger siblings (Oren and Willow), and his bratty older sister (Sarai). His father (Bhevek), having been killed by the local gang boss, left him and his older sister as the breadwinners. Sarai found the more honest ways of making a living, such as as a barmaid and a hired hand at a local baker. Ludwin found that sneaking around checking rich nobles' bedrooms for spare jewelry was far easier than being a farmhand — and a lot more fun! Then, his sister cast a spell. A goon from the local gang got zapped and collapsed on the floor when he tried to get "handzzz" with her. A wizard in the tavern saw her potential for the arcane arts and offered to train her. With a teary goodbye from her family (except for Ludwin, who only got sand in his eyes), she left, promising to send letters and money. Three years past. No letters. Not a single coin was sent. Having saved up enough for his family to live off of for a few weeks, Ludwin set out with a group of mercenaries for higher-paying adventures and to find any information on his missing sister.
Dr. Silus "Bones" McRoy Race: Gnome Class: Cleric Ability Scores: Standard Array Backstory: Recently divorced, McRoy is a country doctor on his way to visit an old navy buddy in Palebank Village, when he finds himself enthralled in the midst of the spread of a mysterious disease.
"Damn it Gem Dragon, I'm a doctor, not a Herpetologist!"
Backstory: Petros worked as a swindler, he sold “healing potions” to anyone gullible enough to buy them. He then gained a habit of pilfering expensive jewelry. Next, he attempted house robberies, with varying success. His small crime rapidly was replaced by ridiculous missions in an attempt to quench his greed. His last crime was attempting to rob a wealthy noble’s treasury. This went exceptionally poorly. Petros ran for his life and barely escaped from the city he used to live in. With a bounty on his head, and not nearly as much money as he would like. With a bounty on his head, Petros decided to hide in Palebank Village and was planning on peacefully cowering for a couple years, until people starting being killed. Mostly because of self preservation he decided to figure out and stop whatever is killing people.
Gellwin is on his Wander ( his final test before taking up his place at the Cinderrest Sanctum). Still young he is eager to get out and see the world having spent most of his life in the shade of Kravaraad.
