"Excellent,"Captain Zodge says once everyone is signed. He then gestures to his men to open the gates, but to also be prepared to keep anyone else from entering the city. "You may enter into Baldur's Gate and take your 'entourage' with you."

(So the refugees that came with us are allowed into the city then? If that is the case would Damian know of any place in the city where they could seek shelter? I think at least one of the patriar families does some charity work in the city.)
(Yeah, they are allowed into the city. I'm not sure which family or families do charity work. But the Miyar repair wagons. So they could go and see them to get the wagons repaired.)

(The Caldwell's for instance. Caldwell | Forgotten Realms Wiki | Fandom Damian would like to direct the refugees to some kind of hostel while inviting Gilbert, Harlan, Quill, Anita and her newborn to the family townhouse. I was imagining the family had their estates north of the city by the coast but that there would be a townhouse with some basic staff available for town visits if that is okay?)
(Ah, okay, the Caldwell's would work then. As for the Ravenshades, they could have a town house located in the Upper City away from the river. More specifically Manorborn in the western part of Upper City. They could then have properties further north, outside of Baldur's Gate, but if so they would need their own defences. But here's a map of Baldur's Gate.)

(I just thought it might be practical if the group had a base of operations of sorts in the city. :-) Are we free to go then or does the captain seem to expect us to start our service for the Flaming Fist right away?)
After explaining to Vander and Chele where in the city they could take the refugees Damian turned to Gilbert, Harlan, Quill and Anita with her newborn. "As it seems we will be associates when serving the Flaming Fist for some time I would like you to join me at my family's townhouse." He says with a polite smile then turning to Anita and the baby. "You could of course accompany the others to the hostel but know that you too are welcome to stay with us while we find a way for you to get settled in the city."
Gilbert nods in deference to Damian. "I thank you for your hospitality. I graciously accept your offer. We need to place to regroup while we try to figure what happened to my beloved city and if anything can be done."
Damian nodded at Gilbert, Harlan, Quill and Anita, giving Harlan a discreet curious glance, then turning to lead the way through Baldur's Gate to his family's town house in the more affluent part of the city. "The house is small compared to our mansion north of the city, but I think we will be able to give you separate rooms during your stay. I assume we will be contacted there when we are to perform our duty to the Flaming Fist. In the meantime we could discuss how we can solve this mystery with Elturel."
As you begin to make your way through Baldur's Gate you notice that the people of the city look tense. They talk amongst themselves with worried expressions on their faces. Occasionally you hear mention of Elturel and Thavius Kreeg. Clearly, the news is playing on the minds of the people.
"It was a meteor," you hear one man say. "I think it was a meteor that did it. Fell from the sky and crushed the city. That's what happened."

This fool, thought Harlan. So gullible, accepting any rumour that passes his ears. Although reluctant to converse with a person of so little critical thought, he felt compelled to correct the man. Misinformation cannot be allowed to spread.
"There was no meteor!" he said, exasperated. "We were in Elturel when it happened, my associates and I, and I can assure you we were not flattened by a meteor. No, the Champion which gives light to that city instead turned dark, and began to absorb everything! Just as we escaped the city simply disappeared! There is nothing there now but a crater."
As he finished talking, Harlan had a horrible feeling that all he had managed was to contribute to the rumour mill of Balder's Gate, but misinformation could not be allowed to stand unchallenged.
Damian was not particularly surprised over how fast false rumors had spread within the populace. He raised his eyebrows slightly as Harlan turned and tried to correct the buffoon. He respected the man for trying to protect the truth, but what help would it do? The rabble would always believe what they were told. There just had to be true leader to tell them the truths they needed to hear. Instead he continued towards his family's townhouse in the more affluent parts of Baldur's Gate, first checking that Harlan, Gilbert, Quill, Anita and the infant was still with him and had not getting lost in the crowd.
Gilbert strides along with Damian, keeping an eye on the new mother and her baby, intervening with his bulk when others along the crowded street got too close. Seeing Damian look around, he gives a quick half wave. "I'm with you Damian."
Damian's family townhouse is still relatively large. The ground floor of the building was built using grey bricks. Leaving room for a wooden door and several windows around the building. The top floor looks like a recent extension. The walls of the top floor are made from wooden panels and wooden beams to keep the panels together. On this level, several windows have been included to allow light in. The roof is tiled, with four chimneys built to allow smoke from the fireplaces out. Two are on the front of the house, with another two to the rear.

As the family townhouse came into view at the end of the street Damian breathed a sigh of relief as he was close now to a proper rest in a proper bed, and again having the service and attendance that was his right as a patriar. "It is nothing special but I am sure you will find it comfortable enough compared to what we have had since we left Elturel."He turned and said to the others with a quick smile before walking up the steps to the front door and step inside, calling for the servants to take care of the needs of his companion, especially preparing one of the guests rooms to Anita and her infant, then showing the others to the lounge to rest and drink something while they all waited for dinner to be prepared for them.

(For now you are free to roam the city.)

Harlan nods, though he seems distracted, glancing around him at the crowds ."Yes, yes, very grateful. Please, lead on."
Damian:
You hear Harlan's voice echo in your head, muttering as if talking to himself.
<Finally, a real bed. And perhaps some respite from all these people, so many, it's so hard to concentrate.>
He isn't looking at Damian, and seems unaware that he has projected these thoughts to Damian.
He rubs his temple with his fingertips, as if easing a headache.
