(Alynys is still of the opinion that they all ought to sneak into the City of the Dead and cut off the head. Especially if the docks are so overrun and most of the ships have sailed away, it just doesn't seem like there would be any point. Unless we were going the totally selfish route and were ready to abandon the rest of the survivors to their fate, then I guess Alynys could still try to signal her ship to come and pick them up, but I don't think Alynys would be okay with that. She still wants to try to save EVERYONE.)

"I won't be taking any but these few with me. The city is falling. Someone has to survive. Come with us. You know what needs done." Mr Peabody offers his hand.
"My duty is here, plus... my family... they lived near the city. This place - these walls, it's all I have left. I wish you luck in the days to come, for it sounds like you might need it."
The guard turns to a towering staircase and climbs the walls to look out over the fallen city.
Arturo hops off his barrel and slides his lute back across his back. "Anything is better than sitting here!" Striding after Alynys, he hesitates for a moment before slightly turning his head backwards and whistling. The barrel flops on its side and begins rolling after him. He turns towards Mr. Peabody. "You never know when you might need a barrel! I wonder what's inside it..."
Heading downwards, for where else would dungeons be but down, and after exploring a few side corridors, it does not take you very long to discover a likely looking pair of guards sternly watching the entrance to what is obviously a main entrance to the palace dungeons. In the confusion up to this point, you have not been stopped, or even really noticed, though these guards seem far more attentive. They see you as you approach, and one of them, a grizzled fellow in polished armor, holds up one hand.
"I've got this," Arturo whispers to the group. "GENTLEMEN! Fine day this is, wouldn't you say? Ha! It's s--t and we all know it. Between the zombies and the rats, it's been quite the day! Ah! Yes, yes, you asked us to state our business." Raising his hands and gesturing towards the group he says, "We're exterminators and we're here to take care of the rat problem in the dungeons. There's been an increased worry that the zombies are passing their zombie curse along to the rats and lemme tell you, we all are screwed if that's happening. So we're here to clean them out before it's a problem." He approaches the guard lowering his voice and widening his smile, "And because of the current situation we're getting paid double with hazard pay! Can you believe it!?! I couldn't believe my ears when... Hey..." He looks at both of the guards the smile being replaced by a look half between concern and disgust. "Are YOU being paid overtime for this? What about hazard pay? Look that's not the point, but I'd have that conversation if you haven't already." He flashes a smile at the guard, "Now if you wouldn't mind," he turns his head towards the group and tilts his head towards the dungeon entrance, "we've got some rats to crush." Arturo strides confidently towards the dungeon entrance, barrel bumping along behind him.
The elf follows in silence. The news of the overrun docks have been a kick in the gut for him. He would have put all those people away from danger but as they descend the stairs the feeling of being trapped and without hope starts to take root on his hearth. He glances to the bugbear, perhaps her plan was their only solution after all. Making a desperate move to try to find the responsible of all that dead and put an end to it. It was a suicidal mission, for sure, but at least he would die doing something and not sitting and trapped waiting for his death.
But as Arturo talked to the guards he tried to focus on the task at hand. If they do not find a secure way to leave the castle all their ideas or plans were in vain.
Alynys easily falls in with Arturo's lie "Mhmm, rats are always in league with necromancers. It's a classic combination. Like milk and cookies. It was real smart of that Paladin Captain from the Order of Aster upstairs to think of it and send us."
(Alynys is trying to give the help action to Arturo's deception check)
The guards are suspicious for a moment, but sheer braggadocio carries the day. The elder of the two guards looks sternly at you, and is about to speak, when the other interjects.
"I think I heard something about that last week at the meeting - maybe you could check with that Paladin of Aster upstairs to be sure? I can keep watch here, Roval."
The elder guard grunts and steps past you, heading up and out of the dungeon. You only just now realize it, but down here you can no longer here the intermittent cries and screams as the army of dead washes around and through every neighborhood and street.
Once the older guard has passed, the remaining one turns and does something you can't quite make out against a blank wall. With a small hiss, a doorway appears, leading down a stairway and around a tight corner heading deeper into the mountain.
"You all can go ahead and get started, but keep your wits about you - the whole rest of the Undermountain can be reached from the bottom of the stair, and there's no telling what will crawl up with the city above being what it is, just now. "
"That is excellent advice, sir, thank you so much," Alynys says. "Where specifically shouldn't we go in order to avoid accidentally winding up in the Undermountain?"

"I should go first " says the elf. He reaches back and from the quiver he is wearing he produces both a bow and an arrow and he notches it as he steps into the dark.

Without hesitation, he shakes his head.
"My duty is here, plus... my family... they lived near the city. This place - these walls, it's all I have left. I wish you luck in the days to come, for it sounds like you might need it."
The guard turns to a towering staircase and climbs the walls to look out over the fallen city.
Mr Peabody briefly considers burning the guard who rejected his generosity but decides against it. He returns to the others.
"Well everyone."
"There's rumor among the guards of a secret egress somewhere in the cellars. We can look for that, if you've no other plans?"

"Way to be a team player, Peabody!" Alynys says, standing and slapping him on the back. "Let's roll!"
Alynys heads out towards the back on the hall, looking for any set of stairs heading downwards.
Arturo hops off his barrel and slides his lute back across his back.
"Anything is better than sitting here!"
Striding after Alynys, he hesitates for a moment before slightly turning his head backwards and whistling. The barrel flops on its side and begins rolling after him.

Red nods at Mr. Peabody. "Names Red, or Fred, or Red Fred. I'm coming along...as anything is better than waiting here to die"
Mr Peabody looks inside the barrel, his fist at the ready in case whatever it is that moves the barrel is... uncouth.

Red smile sand nods at the deception and quietly follows along. "Is everyone here ok in the dark?"
He will step in behind Lyndaran, place a copper wire between his lips and cast Message directed at Lyndaran.
"I will check silently here every 15 minutes or if I see something. You can reply and only I can here."
