Betwixt two feuding noble lords lies a lake that has long been used for its fish and local trade. Each now vies for control of it, plying its waters with warboats day and night, the laws and regulations placed upon those that humbly work these waters growing stricter by the day. Their plight is likely not your own, however. What concerns you is a need to travel from one end to the other, to merely cross the lake. Herein lies your crossroads. Herein lies the choice you must make.
The fastest way across the lake is by boat, of course, but you cannot risk traversing these waters during the day when the warboats might stop and search you. No, you must take what the locals have begun to call 'the midnight passage.' Hire a smuggler to bear you across the lake during the late hours of the night, when all is dark and calm. But if you choose this path, know it will not take you to your destination. Unbeknownst to you, the ship will go missing during the night, and set you on a new path of adventure, mystery, and a fight for the survival of your people.
Or fade into obscurity. Take the long road, the foot path around the lake, and avoid your adventure to become one of the nameless in the annals of history.
Without all the flowery text now ;) Choose your fate of adventure by applying below, or in a PM to me. Your character is, of course, unaware of the path that lies before them, but know that if you join this campaign they will be whisked away to a new place far from home, with only what they've brought with them on the boat. It will be a struggle to merely survive in this new land at first, but as you learn its ins and outs you will slowly discover how you were brought here, why, and what you can do to save the fate of your people. There will be an above-average amount of seafaring in this campaign. I'd still say 70% normal land-based shenanigans, but you will start on a boat, and if you don't get that boat sunk, you will have it as a mobile home and your only relative safety for some time.
If all this intrigues you, please apply below or in my PMs:

Discord Name: MightyOwl#0851 Character Name: Bramble Keeneyes Class/Race: Firbolg Ranger Appearance: 7'4", lanky frame, dressed in leather armor. Long brown hair tied back in a bun, brown chinstrap beard, blue-gray skin. Late forties. Has a bow and quiver strung over his shoulder and two shortswords sheathed at his waist. Backstory: Born to the Keeneyes Clan of firbolgs, Bramble was taught the ways of survival in the wilderness alongside his fellow hunters. It was a peaceful life in the deep forest, providing for his clan from the bounties of nature. It all changed when a bloodthirsty green dragon came and destroyed the Keeneyes, leaving Bramble the clan's only survivor. Desperate to avenge his fallen kin, Bramble has left his forest behind and entered the world beyond the trees, finding a vast lake. The dragon's lair is on the other side, and Bramble is intent to make it there. RP Sample: The tracks were clear as day in the moist earth. Fresh, less than an hour since whatever left them passed through. Bigger than most bears around these parts. Nocking an arrow in his yew longbow, Bramble crept through the brush, following the footprints until he found his quarry in a clearing less than a mile away. A large gray-furred bear was grumbling and gnawing at its right foreleg, caught in a cruel-looking trap. Bramble paused, some pity in his heart for the creature. The firbolg stowed his weapon and emerged from the brush, his hands raised before him as he padded toward the beast. He froze as a twig snapped beneath his feet and the hulking bear turned its head around, revealing an owl-like face and beak with big yellow eyes. It let out a roaring hoot at the ranger, who desperately tried to shush the creature. Miraculously, it worked, and soon the owlbear went back to desperately trying to free its bloody paw from the trap. Wordlessly, Bramble slowly continued his approach until he was right by the trap. After studying it for a moment and petting the owlbear to try and calm it down, he finally found what looked like a release lever. With one tug, the trap's jagged teeth parted and the owlbear was free. The creature immediately took the opportunity to limp into the brush, far from the trap. Bramble let out a content sigh, but his happiness was short-lived as he heard a crossbow click from the tree line. He only just rolled out of the way, managing to avoid the bolt. Three humans with weapons drawn glared at him.
"Damn tree-hugger! You know how much owlbear pelts go for these days?" Their leader, a scowling fellow with an eyepatch and plenty of scars, growled. "Hope you feel proud of yourself, hero, now let me teach you that no good deed goes - huh?"
Bramble disappeared from sight. The poachers looked around, confused, until an arrow flew out from behind a nearby tree and struck the leader in the leg, sending him to the ground groaning. His two minions looked on in horror as Bramble reappeared from around the oak he had hidden behind. "This forest and all creatures in it are under the protection of the Keeneyes. I suggest you leave. Leave, and never return."
Appearance: Aluve is 6ft7. He is fit but has a slim build. He has short black hair and is clean shaven. Both his ears are pierced, each one contains a small silver stud. He carries two short swords, one at his side and the other strapped to his back. He wears a blue robe which hides his stained black leather armor whilst traveling along the common roads.
Background: Aluve is a man of the wilds. As a young boy he grew up exploring and hunting with his father, a brave ranger with a somewhat haunted past. His mother had left soon after he was born, she left with his sister never to be seen again. After venturing out late one evening, Aluve and his father were caught in a storm, his father was tragically killed after a large tree came down and crushed him. Aluve became an orphan, moving from village to village living with anyone who would take him in. Village life was not for Aluve, after receiving little support after his fathers death he chose to isolate himself. At the age of 16 Aluve ventured out into the world, searching for work and picking up contracts. He became known as the "blue cloak man" in the regional settlements. A mysterious hero who aided the less fortunate and slayed many a monster. Now 28 years of age, Aluve has found himself at the edge of lake. His quest this time was a personal one. He had heard whispers that his sister was alive but was enslaved by their mothers husband. An evil warlord who cared nothing for his wife or his step-daughter. The lake was vast, the Nobles of the area where at war which was going to make crossing it a very difficult task.
RP Sample:
It was night. Aluve stood on the shore, he took a deep breath in and looked up towards the sky. The cold prickled his lungs has he exhaled. He looked to the stars, their light offering a relief of beauty and calm. His quest had brought him far. Much further then the young Elf had been before. He looked out across the lake, the moon offering enough light to illuminate a few bobbing masses on the water. Fishing boats, Aluve thought to himself. This place seemed so calm, a lot different to stories he had been told before venturing here. He had expected to have a hard time crossing the lake, stories of battle-boats stained with blood and warring clans echoed in his mind. Aluve turned away, he was headed back into the forest to set up camp when a huge explosion forced him to turn back. A fiery plume had burst from one of the bobbing boats, igniting the night sky. A horrendous shrill scream followed, with the sound of loud voices and then laughter.
A rustle of leaves, Aluve spun, pulling his bow from his shoulder and drawing and arrow, pointing it in the direction of the noise.
"Whoah, whoah, sorry sir, I come in peace" A small gnome came out from behind a bush. He was dressed in a leather outfit with a white undershirt and his boots were clearly way to big for him. Probably Human size.
"Not a good idea sneaking up on me Gnome" Aluve said as he starred directly at him."
"Look, I am just trying to help, you gotta get off the shoreline. If someone sees you they will hunt us down. Come on" The gnome gestures towards the dark woods.

Character's appearance: 4'3", 150lbs, tan skinned, brown hair, hazel eyes
Background: Eldeth grew up among the citizens of the Gold dwarves. Her family was no stranger to fighting. Her spirit in fights made the family proud...so proud that they found the perfect suitor to marry...in their eyes. Eldeth had no vision of a future that involved marriage but instead just being the family's pride as a fighter. Conflicted on still wanting to bring honor while having her dream, she came up with a plan. Traveling to spread the name of Strakheln through other lands and gathering riches to bring home might do the trick. First, she just had to get across that damn river—a river including two Lords who just so happen to trade with her people. Wanting to get started quickly and before anyone can notice to talk her out of this idea, a boat at night sounds perfect.

Hi!! does the RP sample have to apply to the little introduction you wrote or can it be any type of sample! :D
It can be anything at all
