A few words to describe your character: Stubborn, impulsive, clumsy, warm
Backstory:
Kalhala was part of the city watch for Jigow. He grew up in this city and was proud of being a soldier, to help protect his home. He has a bit of a chip on his shoulder as most see him as just a brute, but he feels he is much more than that! And he is always looking for ways to prove it. His unit, trying to find ways to better themselves, learned about and was drawn into the ways of the blood hunter. Kalhala was unsure at first, but pressured by his best friend, they joined as the entire unit did to become what they considered the best way to destroy evil.
RP Sample:
He runs down the familiar alleyway, doing his best to lose his pursuers. Panting quite heavily, he wonders if they will ever stop chasing him. All he did was ask for their papers on getting into the city and 10 of them pop out of nowhere with swords drawn!! Of course Nolan, his fellow guard, was off getting a snack - such his luck. Why were they chasing him? They obviously got what they want, in very disturbing way they were now in HIS city! Maybe they were because they knew he would hunt them down, one by one, however long it took!
As he turns the next corner out of the alleyway and onto a row of shops, he darts into the first door he sees.... and immediately regrets it. As the momentum of his run thrusts him further into the shop, there is a horrible crash as glass bottles and vials and other breakables come crashing down from the display they used to be occupying. Kalhala stands as still as possible and tries to hold his breath to try and keep his form from doing anymore collateral damage. From the back he hears, "Is there an earthquake?? What is happening??"
A few words to describe your character: Curious, secretive, stoic, lonely, suspicious
Backstory:
Born in the Allowak Sanctuary, Mornlight the half-yeti was raised among the tribal, though not brutish, Allowak yetis. He spent most of his life not fully understanding why he was so much smaller than his kin, but he didn't care. He was content to help the sanctuary thrive through his skills he learned from his brethren: Quietly stalking game, and then striking with quick and brutal ferocity.
Eventually he was told the story of his birth. A poor explorer nearly met her end in the wastes of Eiselcross. She was rescued and nursed back to health by Mornlight's yeti father. A forbidden love blossomed between the two, but when it was discovered, Mornlight's mother was exiled from the sanctuary only after she delivered the child. Upon receiving this revelation, Mornlight left the sanctuary. He knows he must keep himself hidden to preserve the secret of his people's existence, but he loves being around people and revelry too much. Now he spends his days wandering the land, hoping to find a new place to call home. whether that be with his mother, or with a group of people he trusts.
RP Sample:
In a cozy little tavern somewhere in Xhorhas, a group of workers are relaxing, celebrating a long day's work with a warm meal, many laughs, and hard ale. Mornlight has been watching the from afar at a lonely table in the corner. He watches them enjoying themselves, wishing he had companionship like that again.
The workers notice him and invite him over. He puts up a weak resistance at first, but relents, joining them excitedly. They try to politely ask about him, but he always tries to divert the conversation to something else. The friendly workers persist, so Mornlight nervously bolts from the tavern. One worker chases after him, accidentally pulling off his cloak, revealing the elongated, bestial body.
"W-What are you?" the worker says, bewildered by the form in front of him. With blinding speed and ferocity, Mornlight tackles the man to the ground. He snarls a warning I the man's ear:
"Tell anyone what you have seen, and I will hunt you down... And skin you alive." Mornlight then jumps off and sprints into the night, lamenting another lost chance at companionship.
Appearance: (click here, but usually he wears a big hooded cloak)

I'm up to date on Critical Role, barring the latest EXU 2-shot, but that's on a different continent.
Character Name: Shayone of Den Daev’yana
Race: Hobgoblin
Class: I would love to try the current UA Sorcerer Lunar Magic, but if you don't want UA, I'll do Graviturgy Wizard.
Stats: Ability scores: 141211121213
A few words to describe your character: Proud, stubborn, adrift.
Backstory:
Shayone is consecuted, and on her 2nd (or 3rd) life. Only, it's not going the way it was expected to.
If we go with Sorcerer: in her previous incarnation(s) she was a respected Echo Knight, and a tactician of some renown (enough to get consecuted). But now there's this magic dogging her heels, and she's not even sure if it comes from the Luxon! Her anamnesis guide has been telling her that it is simply the Luxon's way of ensuring that she explores all paths of knowledge, and she simply needs to find a way to meld it with the skills she's been working to remember. Shayone isn't particularly happy with this, and part of her thinks maybe she shouldn't trust her guide -- the family she was born into certainly doesn't, though the money and fine goods are nice -- so she's decided if she's going to prove herself, she'll do it on her own.
If we go with Wizard: in her previous incarnation she was a cleric (or warlock) dedicated to the Luxon, and she misses that connection desperately. Feeling shunned and unable to regain that connection in this new life, she'll use the training her hobgoblin family has given her to take the knowledge of magic back from Den Daev’yana by force if she has to.
RP Sample:
"Nailo, don't be ridiculous," Shayone replies, tucking the rapier into the bundle of torches to hide it. "I know what I'm doing. I've only been in Rosohna for five years, I lived in Oshinik-Ka for all of this life before that, which is much worse than whatever I might find in Jigow." She claps her hands on her thighs as she finishes putting the last items away, and stands up out of her squat. "I'm getting nowhere here and frankly I think that's on purpose. I need to get information from sources I can trust for myself. Maybe find some of the people I used to know." She leans in, putting one hand on his shoulder, close to his neck -- watching his pupils widen slightly. "I can trust you to keep an eye out, right? Watch my back tonight."
Appearance: Slim, with the ruddy complexion hobgoblins are known for, and pointed ears. Medium-length brown hair, in an undercut or half mohawk. Athletic but messy.
A few words to describe your character: Dedicated, professional, plotting
Backstory: a former, then a recruited spy that found assignation to be profitable profession. Recruited at a young age by the Children of malice, Reyyra first learned the trade craft and skills of a thief, then applied it to spying on behalf of the Children. Working in sleeper cells, Reyyra reported on activities that were in support of the Children's overall objectives of overthrowing the Krynn Dynasty. Reyyra demonstrated his uncanny ability for non-detection, infiltration and gathering information on targets, and the ultimate ability to touch targets and evade undetected. Thus, he was recruited into becoming one of the assassins for the Children.
RP Sample: Reyyra, observed his target and followed silently in the shadows, closing the distance. Keeping to the darkness of the shadows, his eyes and ears kept his target in view as he moved unaware through the crowd in the dark. While the festival lights and sounds reflected off the targets face, it hid Reyyra in plain view. Patiently, Reyyra waited for the opprotunity which soon arrived when his target went to an outhouse. As Reyyra approached he could hear his target whistling, using his dagger, he quietly lifted the latch and swung the door open. With a surprised look upon his face, the target stared at the shadowy death as he plunged his poisoned dagger into his target's eye. Once the job was done, he closed the door and once more used his dagger to latch the door, before fadding into the night.

Character Name: Nan’Alee (pronounced Nahn-Ah-Lee
Race: Hexblood/Human
Class: Warlock (Pact of the Archfey, looking to multiclass eventually)
A few words to describe your character: Mischievous. Eccentric. Macabre.
Backstory: Nan doesn’t remember becoming a Hexblood, what caused it or who she really was before the transformation. One day she woke nestled in the hollowed out remains of a tree in the Labenda Swamp, her only possessions the clothes on her back and her arcane focus: A skull she was clutching when she woke up. She began to wander Wildemount, looking for people who might know who she is, but everywhere she goes her appearance and demeanor put people off. She enjoys dark humor, often talks to her Skull/Focus (she’s named him Skully), and has an obsession with anything she considers outlandish. So, naturally, when she found out about Xorhas and the exotic locales there, she promptly marched for the border.
RP Sample: Nan’Alee stood before the closed gates of the Ashguard Garrison. The sun was setting, and in the dim light she could see still unmended scars of battles past along some of the walls. Instinctively, she glanced down at Skully tied at her belt. “Doesn’t look like the friendliest place, does it buddy?” As always, Skully said nothing. He was the silent type. Or maybe he was mad that she’d painted him in bright colors. “Who goes there?” Nan looked up, seeing a guard stationed atop the wall. “Just a traveler, looking to pass through this wonderful…” she paused, looking at the militaristic settlement, “place. Town? Whatever it is. They say there’s giant worms past here that bore through the ground, and who wouldn’t want to see that?”
Appearance: Nan is a short, slight young woman. She has light blue skin with bright orange hair, which she keeps in a pixie cut. Her Hexblood crown begins as dark brown near her scalp, then shifts to blood red near the tips. Her outfit is put together from an assortment of clothing she thought was interesting during her journey so far: Sandals, pants that are tied down to taper around her calves and ankles, a silk shirt and bright white poncho. None of her clothes match particularly well, and any time she’s had them tear or otherwise be damaged she’s repaired them with brightly colored or patterned patches that, also, do not match.
Okay. Wow. I've really put my foot in my mouth considering my signature.

Update: This has gotten a lot of great applications already, so I am officially closing recruitment tomorrow (April 12th) morning.
For anyone who is still working on their application, please finish it as soon as possible if you would still like to be considered.
To those of you who are not picked for the final party, I will keep your applications here on this thread in the event someone in the final draft drops out or can no longer participate.

Thank you all for these amazing applications. You've made this really hard for me, to the point where I am increasing the number of players I'm accepting from 5 to 6. I'm going to be sending out a private message to the applicants I have accepted to be in the final party momentarily. If you do not receive a message, then you have not been chosen. Like I said, there were a lot of awesome applications, but in the end I can only pick six of you. I hope each of you gets the chance to play these characters out in Exandria sometime in your future!
Please also know that I am keeping notes on these applications to consider people as backups/understudies in the event that somebody drops or can no longer participate, so please keep an eye out for any PMs from me in the future.
Thank you all once again!

Thank you all once again!

...Oh. I guess I have some more things to learn about the dice roller function.
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
