Ameera stacks up two chests, climbs to the top and grabs the heavy keys, there are four black iron keys, and one silver key. Each key is about a foot long. Ameera makes it safely back to the ground.
The keys and locks are clumsy, not meant for hands as small as Ameera's. But you get them open. There's a lot of giant sized junk in each one. Spear heads, throwing axes, giant helmets, giant belts, rocks - including a distinct white rock from Kelvin's Cairn, one chest even has a dead and dried bird corpse - one of those ravens that was hanging around the thrones, Ameera judges. About the only thing that looks valuable is a white dragon scale.
You put the scale in the brazier with the rune "wyrm". The brazier bursts into fire, consuming the dragon scale. It stays alight, casting a flickering light around the room. Yselm seems a little overwhelmed by it all, making the sign of Tempos.
Snatch a scale from a sleeping wyrm; White dragon scale Against the blowing wind, stand firm. ? Climb a mountain with a stone in your shoe; Rock from Kelvin's Cairn On little feet, death comes for you. ? Be the thrown weapon that starts the war; One of the axes or spears Let life’s blood fall till it falls no more. ?
I'll try the ones I've highlighted in orange...add the rock Kelvin's Cairn into the brazier Then throw one of the axes in
No wind is entering the chamber. The braziers could be moved but only with extreme difficulty.
No rats, nothing living here. The closest living things to Ameera are Yselm, Harshnag, and the ravens. By the sounds of it there are even more ravens outside now.
Ameera heads out and throws a throwing axe at one of the birds. It seems to infuriate them and they swarm. Ameera picks up the body of the one she killed, and her axe and returns to the chamber with the braziers. She wrings the body and lets blood from the dead bird fall into the brazier, but nothing happens.
Ameera considers the brazier and looks at the raven in her hand.
'It's dead, and has little feet,' she thinks. Then drops the little body into the brazier. It bursts into flame and consumes the body. All the braziers are lit.
There is a noise from the barred door, which Ameera assumes is it unlocking. She walks over and pushes and the bars swing open noisily.
"That would have been a tough puzzle for frost giants," observed Yselm.
Ameera, followed by Yselm at a distance, walks up the curved tunnel, scanning the floor and walls for any traps. Not that frost giants are known for their elaborate traps, but Ameera would not have thought they would be capable of magical riddles either.
The curved tunnel ends in large stone double doors.
The doors push open with some difficulty - they were meant to be opened by giants, after all.
The doors open into a chamber. A large oak chest with silver fittings stands against the wall directly opposite the double doors. A gold key sticks out of the chest’s built-in lock.
Ok I'll do that then.
Ameera stacks up two chests, climbs to the top and grabs the heavy keys, there are four black iron keys, and one silver key. Each key is about a foot long. Ameera makes it safely back to the ground.
Actions?
Unlock each of the chests, starting with the ones I climbed

Snatch a scale from a sleeping wyrm;
Go back to that entrance room and put the white dragon scale into the brazier underneath those runes

Hmm ok...a good old fashioned riddle!
Snatch a scale from a sleeping wyrm;White dragon scale
Against the blowing wind, stand firm.
?
Climb a mountain with a stone in your shoe;
Rock from Kelvin's Cairn
On little feet, death comes for you.
?
Be the thrown weapon that starts the war;
One of the axes or spears
Let life’s blood fall till it falls no more.

I'll try the ones I've highlighted in orange...add the rock Kelvin's Cairn into the brazier
Then throw one of the axes in
Those braziers with the runes "mountain" and "war" also burst into flame and light.
The remaining braziers - "death", "wind", and "life" remain unlit.
Ameera looks at the poem once more.
The inscription carved into the arch above the alcoves is a poem written in the Giant language:
death
the crow
wind
?
life
??
The wind one...does any wind enter the chamber? Can a brazier be positioned to capture any?
The life one...are there any rats in the chamber? I'd be loathe to let Yselm's blood fall...
No wind is entering the chamber. The braziers could be moved but only with extreme difficulty.
No rats, nothing living here. The closest living things to Ameera are Yselm, Harshnag, and the ravens. By the sounds of it there are even more ravens outside now.
Against the blowing wind, stand firm.
Take a deep breath and exhale?
Life
Slice my palm and squeeze some blood onto the brazier
Two more braziers blaze into life. The one with the rune "death" remains unlit.
Ameera considers the crow.
(was unsure what Ameera was doing with this one)
Yeah get one and bleed it out onto the brazier

Actions?
Are the doors locked? I'll try and open them
The doors push open with some difficulty - they were meant to be opened by giants, after all.
The doors open into a chamber. A large oak chest with silver fittings stands against the wall directly opposite the double doors. A gold key sticks out of the chest’s built-in lock.
Seems like a trap...
But Ameera is hardly one for caution, so she shrugs and turns the key..
