When you leave and head to the right side of the building you see this ornate fire escape. The bottom stairs are currently up. You would need a way to lower them or find a way to bypass them if you want to use the fire escape. There is a drain pipe to the left of fire escape. It runs from the roof to the ground
Finn sees a Tabaxi server push her food cart draped with table cloth, towards door 2 of the forbidden doors. 1 of the 2 guards nods and unlocks the door with a key.
From where Finn is sitting she cannot see clearly into the room.
Obric responds "I am sorry I cannot tell you that information. He looks at the clock on the wall. Its time for our shift" He and the other guards leave the break room.
He watched in silence as his companions gained entrance into the lounge, then freedom of movement on it, then information. The halfling scholar seemed to be beyond well-guarded doors, forbidden even to most of the staff. If only we had something with her scent, he thought as Norros asked about a fire exit. Unsuspecting, the guard indicated to them where to find it and before long most of the group was making its way to the right side of the building.
Entering the alley, Noah focused his attention to his senses of smell and hearing, making sure no one was following them. Meanwhile the half-eld and man with the iron arm started discussing how to bring down the suspended bottom stairs. As they made a plan, the Lycan moved eleven feet or so from the stairs and started running, as fast as he could, on its direction. Below it, he took a high jump and extending his arms reached for the structure. Grabbing on it he pulled himself up. Any bit higher I wouldn’t have gotten it, he admitted with the voice of his mind as he found some footing.
“Something’s holding it in place.”He said looking at the others and tying to find what. “I’ll try to deal with it and you guys, better move away before I put the thing down.”
Notes: As a full disclaimer, I have checked with the DM if Noah would be able to reach the stairs and he gave me the green light. Also, apologies for the absence.
Finn relays the information on the good cart and which guard has keys to Thordahr and Norros. “I’m going to take a break from the table and see if I can lift the keys…” she mentally adds.
She’ll wait a bit for confirmation of her plan or an objection, and if no objection she’ll stand up from the table the next hand she folds out of. She’ll walk around the table and look around a bit before going up to the guard with the keys. Finn flashed her cutest smile and acts a bit flirty as she hawks the guard where she can freshen up… while chatting she’ll attempt to lift the keys without his noticing.
Norros to Finn: "Don't get caught, but I have faith in you. I admit, I think we may be about to cause a ruckus out here at the fire escape."
Out loud to Noah:"Not so loud! That rusty thing will come clanging down! Maybe just help Varlan up. See if he can get the door open. We don't all need to go in this way."
"I'll see what I can do," Varlan says to Norros before taing a quick glance around the alley, and ascending the ladder. As he reaches the top he takes another look around -- both above and below -- before crouching down in the shadows and starting work on the lock.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“Too late.” He said to Norros while pulling the rusted lever. It took some strength, but he managed to move it with relative easy. Contrary to what the bard imagined, the whole descended rather silently. Even if it was otherwise, Noah doubted anyone inside the building would be alarmed. As for the outside, there was no one but them. At least up to that moment. Better check again, he thought once again focusing on his senses of smell and hearing. There was no such thing as too much caution.
As soon as he climbed the steps, Varlan focused his attention on the lock. Sadly, he was not successful. It would be too easy for us otherwise, the Lycan said with the voice of his mind, half cursing his bad luck. Maybe it was rubbing on the other two.
“Let me try the opening this first.” He said remember his time working in taverns. Locks break all the time and it is often left to the staff to force it open or call a locksmith. Specially when the broken lock is that of the food storage or the cellar. One cannot run a bar without access to food and drink, after all. He may not be as good as a professional thief, but he was sure he could at least make the work of the man with the iron arm easier. “Help me here.”
Notes: Noah asks for Varlan to use the Help action and after doing so attempts to pick the lock using the artificer's tools. Noah also checks for smells or sounds of anyone but their group tell me if a perception check is necessary).

Norros gives a shooting motion to Varlan, like a gesture to get on with climbing up this pipe or something
Have a d6 inspiration from the rich jerk 😁

Varlan nods, then with a glance at Norris, asks Obric, "And the password?"
Obric responds "I am sorry I cannot tell you that information. He looks at the clock on the wall. Its time for our shift" He and the other guards leave the break room.
Varlan cocks and eyebrow at Norros, "Outside? Or interview next shift?" he asks quietly.
(I thought we had already gone outside, that's our fire escape pic up top lol)

Noah sees a lever on the 2 story landing. It seems to be in disrepair with rust covering half of the lever apparatus.
Please roll athletics check to see if you can pull the lever
Varlan, not really the athletic type, is happy to continue "guarding" Norros while Noah does all the hard work.

Finn can you roll a performance check
Your sleight of hand succeeds when added together if your distracting enough. On fail the guard does not let you nowhere near him.
The lever squeals as the gears grind against each other as Noah pulls the lever. The bottom stairs releases and gently drops down.
"I'll see what I can do," Varlan says to Norros before taing a quick glance around the alley, and ascending the ladder. As he reaches the top he takes another look around -- both above and below -- before crouching down in the shadows and starting work on the lock.
Lock: 8 (one less if dex rather than int is used)
"This might take a while," he whispers. Turning to Noah he says, "Maybe help Norros up, and pull the ladder back, while I work on this?"
Those on the 2nd floor landing of the fire escape see a glass window covered by curtains with a lock.
