Welcome to the world of Sykorax. Set in an alternate version of present-day Earth, you find yourself in the middle of the beginning of the apocalypse. It’s been 2 weeks since the initial crash and approximately 80% of the world population has been decimated in the span of a few hours. Hoping to escape what seems like certain destruction, you, and your party managed to find the abandoned emergency bunker of the local eccentric politician. Stuck here for the next part of... forever, how will you and your group survive the aftermath of the apocalypse? Will you find peace? Will you try to rebuild society? Or is there something more sinister afoot?
General Info and Table Expectations:
I'm looking for a group of 4 or 5 players to run this campaign with. I won't tolerate any kind of bullying, homophobia, racism, sexism, etc. Period.
This is a mainly RP based campaign, I don't often run combat encounters unless absolutely necessary. There might be a tiny bit of combat, but that's a hard maybe. I expect players to post more than one or two sentences, and post often ('often' means at least once every two or so days, but preferably every day. Just to keep things fresh and rolling.) We'll play here on the forum.
Important Disclaimer and Game Expectations:
You can expect a good chunk of the beginning of the campaign to be mainly going out to forage, collect food and water, raiding supermarkets... all your standard apocalypse survival stuff. However, especially as the campaign develops, I don't plan on telling easy stories. This is super important. As the campaign goes on, be prepared to have to make difficult decisions, get stuck in difficult scenarios, and face events that outside the world of DND would be heavily traumatic. Of course, if there is anything that makes any of the players uncomfortable, I will steer clear of certain topics. My goal isn't to make you any more uncomfortable than what is bearable. I'm here to tell stories, and sometimes the stories will get troublesome (as is expected in storytelling, there have to be some challenges). However, this isn't going to be a horror campaign, and there will be light-hearted moments and such. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the type of content, don't hesitate reaching out to me. I'm here to help, and to tell the stories I have to tell.
Character Creation Rules:
-Level: You all start at level 6.
-Race/Class: All races are allowed, including homebrew races (given I am provided adequate information on the race itself). All classes are also allowed, however I will not be able to provide players with any extra classes, feats, races, subclasses, etc. That is something you have to provide for yourself.
-Multiclassing: I would prefer if you don't multiclass, as I am not the most experienced DM and am not entirely familiar with the rules of multiclassing, however I will accommodate if anyone strongly wants to multiclass.
-Feats: I'm also not the best at managing feats, so think of it the same as multiclassing.
-Ability scores: You can reroll 1s only once. Any scores with more than one reroll, or the 'manipulated rolls' tag above it will be ignored. In order to circumvent this, copy the application, then roll (and reroll if needed), press enter, and paste the application below. If you edit the post, don't touch the score line, otherwise you're free to edit the post as you like. Additionally, if you don't feel like putting in all that work, you can also just roll your scores and paste your application on two separate posts.
-Background: Anything goes, even custom backgrounds! Just the same as homebrew, though, make sure to check in with me before anything else.
-Backstory: You can go crazy with the backstory! Or not. Anything and everything is allowed, including coming from other worlds/universes! That kind of technology isn't available yet, seeing as the technology of Sykorax is equivalent to that of present-day earth. However, we'll find a way! Just make sure to talk to me if that's the case.

I'm open to most anything, and am willing to discuss ways to implement it into the campaign. My PMs are almost always open, so just let me know if you need anything!

Backstory:
Tamar was a relatively ordinary chemistry teacher when it all ended. He wasn't sure he'd be able to continue on, after. He thought about just gassing everyone in the bunker to put everyone out of their misery peacefully... But he began to see that they could live on. They would need what he could offer if they wanted to survive. So now he just survives one day at a time, hoping against hope that they'll be able to rebuild, and he'll be a teacher again.
Gwin is a war veteran (could use some help here - what war and soldier rank :) ). After the war ended she settled down.
Given that she's a mountain dwarf, I would say The Extinction War. It was a war that lasted 5 years, between world powers Otrad (a mainly dwarven nation), and Nacreau (a mainly tiefling nation). It was the biggest modern war, and the two nations (and their allies) fought in various locations. The fighting got so bad, that during the battle of Ashad (a battle that lasted around four months), 5 species of fauna endemic to the region were forced to extinction because of the chemical weapons used in the area (hence the name, 'The Extinction War'. This happened a few other times over the course of the war, but during this battle it became most extreme).
As for the rank, you can choose her rank yourself. Most modern military ranks fall under mostly the same organization as real military ranks in the U.S., regardless of the nation. There are a few exceptions, however.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else.
Class (Subclass, if applicable): Wizard/Divination
Background: Hermit - Psychic
Backstory:
Emelina worked as a psychic in a closet sized shop near the mall called Divination Tuesday. Day in and day out she would pretend to be psychic as way to earn a living. At times she felt pangs of guilt conning people out of their money, but she usually buries such thoughts when she imagines being homeless. You see she comes from a long line of psychics as told by her grandmother, which Emelina did not believe until days after her grandmother passed away. Her inheritance was an ancient tome and crystal ball. Emelina just displayed it as added decoration for her shop, but strange events start happening. She started actually sensing something from her clients. Brief tone of sadness or anger. She was scared and stumbled into the display shelf knocking the ancient tome. There she saw magical runes flickering for a moment. For the next few years she pouring herself into studying the ancient spellbook in seclusion and fully became a true psychic. She new the end was coming and it was not coincidence that she found the emergency bunker. In the aftermath of the apocalypse, she wonders if she has the skills to survive.
Question what are there the different factions off order there are in this world if there are any? If so please do skim through the details, if not will you allow me to create one of them for my background? Thank You.
It largely depends on the country. The country that the main campaign takes place in would be called Chroina, which would be the equivalent of America. So, law and order in the area that the campaign starts would be similar to that of the U.S., with different branches of government, etc. If you wanted information on other countries, I could provide you with those details as well. Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else!

I'd like to hear about that. Since you say America similarity I guess I will think that the organization that Regnos would have been working for would be somewhat similar to the Embassy of the United States.

Chroina has a faction called the Order of the Archive, which works to collect and preserve foreign and national intelligence to help inform the Chronian government's decisions.
Every country has a faction similar to that (and some have more factions that control different aspects of foreign and national security), but I haven't exactly developed anything outside that. You can just make a faction of your own, if the OoA doesn't suit your character.

That's exactly what I was going to ask!
I mean it doesn't have to be it could be a variation of bladed weapons and armor that is both modern/sci - fi and magic at the same time.
