I did see Ethan's ooc. The other Inquisitor. She was invisible last you saw her. Then she disappeared.
You're left with bodies and a rat (which is invisible, though Tetrevess csn still see it), unless you head upstairs, where several Troopers await. Are you heading upstairs?
Tetrevess shoots a firebolt at the rat 27 to hit, 24 points of fire damage, and uses his telekinesis to pull it towards sam. (DC 19 STR save).
“Sam- Invisible, partially cooked rat for you. formerly an inquisitor. well, I suppose we should try to get out of here. Ideas?”. he thinks to the group.
(ooc: didn't our benefactor say there used to be tunnel, secret or otherwise, that connected to the sewer system?)
"Didn't our benefactor say there used to be tunnel, secret or otherwise, that connected to the sewer system? I don't know if we can find it before we get unwelcome company."
Trisk moves over to the door they came in through.
"I can buy us a minute maybe, if that helps. Should we make a break for it and try to fight our way out, or I can seal this doorway for a about a minute? That would trap us down here but also give us some time to search for that tunnel or passage that connects to the sewer."

Tetrevess blasts the rat familiar, which doesn't immediately burn (fire damage resistance) but eventually finds itself overwhelmed by the immolation and succumbs to the arcane flames. As tetrevess drags it toward him, the body thst emerges from tbe flames is thst of an imp, which disintegrates into a plume if turquoise smoke as it regulates somewhere in Ba'ator. The quasit likewise departs the material plane, though jts destination is instead the Abyss.
Spoiler about what's happening. Maybe don't read it, but I don't know if I'm just not explaining clearly enough or if this is a legitimately interesting unintended consequence. So only read it if you want ro know what's happening.
So, the inquisitor cast greater invisibility and cast counterspell, then later used misty step after moving toward the group to appear behind them on the stairs and alight after doing so with her remaining movement, where she still stands. The rat wad an imp familiar and like the quasit scorpion (normally rhey csn chsnge to centipedes, but I already had the picture of the scorpion torture, so I though 'why not?' And the imp csn itself turn invisible, so it just did that. I think T who csn see the invisible rat would know that it's not the inquisitor, but because we are describing thi gs with words and over several days, @Tesservett may have thought the rat was the inquisitor. It has been hiding in her robes previously. The reason for it is they inky grant AD to saves v. Magic when within 10ft. (Also, the scorpion was actually using the quasit's scare action on both Jigor and the party). The AD didn't help with slow, because the dice hate these NPCs apparently.
Anyhow, the party might or might not realize the last inquistor (ironi ally the first inquisitor) is still alive and (halfway) up the stairs.
So, are we heading upstsirs ir waiting for the Troopers to descend?
I mentioned i would assume KO for humanoids instead of lethal damage if you wanted to ask questions later or whatever, unless otherwise specified. So they have incapa stated rings, some may be pending if I haven't gotten to it.
(I missed those earlier posts adrssing these routes)
Gafna Bilton probably would have mentioned if she knew of any subterranean route to access the former inn. That doesn't mean there isn't one, but she didn't mention it.
I don't know how you want to teleport, but only Chadderlay would know of a circle in the city. Think of them like airports. They're either public or private. If they're public, you're presence is known. If private, you have to own it, know whoever does, or deal with te consequences if landing at some strangers private airfield. Tbe ones Chadderlay knows are public. Morwdna probably ly knows pu local ones. Gafna might know private circles but would not have disclosed them if she could.
So, what's the plan?
<I added rings as needed and changed all the KOs from 'incapacitated' to 'unconscious'. I like the rings, but they're still new to me. I also removed both fsmiliars.>
Through the telepathic link, CW says, We don't want to leave any witnesses who'll be able to provide descriptions of us. If we want to question one or two people, we should bring them with us. We should kill the rest. He then kills the unconscious Inquisitor 3 in front of him before moving to the stairs.
(ooc: didn't our benefactor say there used to be tunnel, secret or otherwise, that connected to the sewer system?)

So, it sounds like we've git close the basement door. Is there more to buying a minite than closing jt? Shoukd this be a strength contest to force the door open?
The door bursts open in a haul kf wooden debris as the guard standing on the landing at the top of the stairs yells 'Breach!' At which point the wand if magjc Missiles in his hand crumbles ro ash, having spent its sums nd final charge.

<assuming consideration of counterspell, Tetrevess is the only one who can see the caster, but doe not have line of sight, as depicted by the green lines.>
Sam kills the scorpion, which changes, upon dying. It seems it was actually a quasit, perhaps the inquisitor's familiar.

This is more of a general question.

Or waiting for the fight to come to you?

(ooc do we know teleportation type magic wont work or be wise here? tunnels sounds like a good idea)

Screw it. Door has 15ac, 18hp (DMG)
Through the door you fell the force of seven rapid thidding explosions of force 23 (All hit).
