For centuries different factions battled in petty wars and border conflicts, until in 2E 896 Tiber Septim crushed all those who opposed him and took control, proclaiming himself as Emperor. Still, the bitter years of war had its affect on the populace. The name Tamriel, Elvish for 'Dawn's Beauty', seldom fell from anguished lips and was soon forgotten. In a place where life and death were different sides of the same coin tossed every day, the people of the known world began calling the land of their sorrow, the Arena... Now, 492 years after Tiber Septim took control and kept the peace, the land of Arena has a new threat. The Emperor, Uriel Septim VII celebrates his forty-third birthday. But jealous hearts desire the throne and plot his downfall. It is said that hope flies on death's wings. Prepare then, for as the Elder Scrolls foretold, it will be here that your adventure begins...
Greetings, adventurers, and welcome to the Arena! If you are not familiar with the Elder Scrolls, it is a video game series by Bethesda Softworks where you are the hero. Now, many years after the original release of Arena, the call for heroes is heard in the Forgotten Realms. To keep it simple, here are some requirements for characters.
Name
Races: PHB or Tabaxi (for the khajiit)
Classes: Any
Abilities: 4d6, drop lowest
And finally, a brief backstory of your character. Why they live in the Arena rather than anywhere else
Level: 1. we're starting fresh
Go now, and may ye be in peace with the Elder Scrolls
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Huge Elder Scrolls fan so this should be good!
Name: Arendt Runewhisk
Races: Varient Human/Human
Classes: Paladin (was hoping to multiclass into Divine Soul Sorcerer if Allowed, if not I may prefer to play the secondary character listed below, but I'm happy to chat more!)
Abilities: Ability scores: 131015141512
Backstory:
A young squire and aspiring knight (I found a few homebrew backgrounds or can use the knight, Courtier or Soldier background if preferred. Open to discussion) Arendt hails from a middle class background to a merchant family in the northern parts of the Imperial province, he was never one for the logistics of business but his charismatic personality and slick tongue led him to be a prosperous sales person for his father's jewelry shop for his early years, an adorable child with quick wit can't be bad for business right? That's what his father thought anyways... during this time, his father paid for him to get tutored by a local courtier and sword master who was recently retired and looking for a new pupil.. This gruff dwarfen man was as wide as he was tall, but was still a living embodiment on what Arendt aspired to be....Over the years the dwarf, Gilford, taught him the ways of sword and court, preparing him for a nearby tournament, the prize... a place in a knight's (her name was Fiona Lightbow, a relatively newer and younger knight who also came from humbler beginnings) home as her squire and opportunities to allow his father retire early. Arendt went on to win the tournament of other promising teenagers coming out on top, it's since been 4 years since he became a squire and now, at the age of 19, he looks to venture forward and make the next steps towards his goal of knighthood.
Name: Elorin
Races: Half Drow
Classes: Shadow Sorcerer
Abilities: Ability scores: 1291314119
Backstory:
"Elorin" is a fake name, real name Miryn Bisastra is a spy and assassin trained from a young age and experimented on as an infant to grant him his mysterious magical abilities. The experimentation was an arduous ritual involving the shadow realm where his body been repeatedly immersed in fell energy for extended periods of time and as a result his initially dark, purple-ish skin was bleached to its current pale state. He's trained to infiltrate, gather information and eliminate targets he receives, but specializes in social manipulation and torture. While not inherently evil, he does what is needed for his homeland of Morrowind and travels as an "adventurer" to get information, use his clout and travel to various land to keep his organization, more specifically his handler happy with his work. His next job, to be discussed/established with the DM to make sure it fits, I'm thinking kingdom infiltration and information gathering, happy to chat more!
kevtr0n, that is not the plan. Arena is the name of the first game in the series. Otherwise known as Tamriel, it is the name of the Continent at this time
Found as an orphan child, sole survivor of a tribe of forest elves killed by a hobgoblin raiding party, raised at a local human monastery. Left the monastery when my longevity and slow maturity compared to my human masters became a problem. Naturally curious, as I wandered the land I heard stories of the Emperor, and whispers of those who plotted his downfall. Having been raised apart from both human and elvish society, I am intrigued by the rumors surrounding the crown, and in general by learning the intricacies of social interaction outside the monastery setting. Thus, I have found my way to the center of the Arena, after living in relative solitude for the first 100 years of my life.
Scores: 10 18 14 12 16 11 (Ik they aren't rolled here, its a char i made elsewhere, they were rolled though so yeah)
Backstory:
Levi grew up in a secluded group of wood elves, known as Guardian of the Dragons. Long ago an ancestor of the group sealed the great Rainbow dragon inside him. Now all of his decendants or anyone who drinks a few drops of a decendants blood will manifest a dragon inside of him. Levi is no different. That being said, he wasn't happy. He excelled in training, and although he hadn't mastered summoning his drake, after 100 years he decided to strike out on his home, leaving the secluded compound to seek his fortune as an adventurer. During his travels he arrived at the Arena, and taking a liking to the wilderness, stayed, going on adventures within The Arena
Class: Light Cleric of Alkosh (Khajiit version of Akatosh)
Ability scores: 111013111212
Backstory: Young Tagil was an orphan in the city of Orcrest in northern Elsweyr, his life spent as such urchins often do. The greatest difference from such was a priest from the nearby temple of Sunspire: they came to visit the city often, and offered the orphans food in exchange for listening to his tellings of the teachings of Alkosh. And unlike the other orphans, Tagil actually listened. So after gaining the prefix J to his name, marking him being a young adult, the now J'Tagil asked the priest to take him to the temple. Having listened well as a cub, he soon became an acolyte, and was sent to travel the world for a true cat must be curious, clever, kind, pious and wary, and these can't be learned locked up in a temple. He is to follow his own path until it leads him back.
I noticed someone made a similar character while I was working on this, so here's another one just in case.
Name: Thongar
Race: Variant Human / Nord
Class: Fighter
Ability scores: I think it would be best to use the same rolls for both, but I can throw new ones if it's needed.
Backstory: Thongar's family lived in Bruma, in northern Cyrodiil. His father run a smithy, and Thongar was learning the trade from him. Though sometimes he would sneak a cool looking weapon out and train using it outside the city. One such time he was surprised to find [some enemy](maybe a small pack of wolves, or a lone zombie or something else level appropriate) closing in on the city, but thankfully he was able to win. But the rush of the fight was great, and left him wanting more. He suggested to his father that as he still had many good working years left in him, Thongar should go find another city to ply the trade, and maybe get a bit of training from the city guard first to make sure he survives the way there. Maybe his father saw the sense in that idea even if he could tell it wasn't the whole story, or he just couldn't say no to his beloved son. But in any case the suggestion was followed, and soon Thongar was on his way to search for adventure.
Abilities (screwed up twice...third time is a charm): Ability scores: 15141211615
On Teeku's naming day he licked the sap of a Hist Tree and was given the name Teeku Sekl Zuahui'eth which in Tamrielic means friends with trees. This name laid out Teeku's path in becoming a protector of the woods and all those that live within them. He stayed in the Black Marshes learning from the Hist Trees until it was time for him to move on and learn more in other parts of the empire. He made his way to Cyrodill where he will continue to learn the ways of druidic life.
