Bjorn's black eyebrow shoots up in a sudden show of irritation. "On second thought --" he hefts his club in hand, and begins stalking angrily towards the window.
(I just mentioned, he locks the door). So it should be locked manually and not with a spell.
Sparhawk ponders. “Can you fit threw the key hole Frangipani?” “Otherwise, I can use that crowbar to break open the door or we can go back to the market and grab a lock pick set?”
"So, Bjorn can talk with animals, Frangipani can shape change apparently, we can pick the lock (which I think is just a physical lock and not magical), or I can break the door or go through a window." Sparhawk pauses. "I think getting a lock pick set should be pretty easy in these markets. How about a quick break for some food, get a set of tools and get back into the house? I'm worried going in a different entrance will result in more traps. In addition, if anyone saw us enter earlier, the house will be ransacked when we return as we have disarmed some of the traps. Let's do this now. (As usual, Sparhawk seems confident enough, although there is a fine line between being confident and stupid.)
Sparhawk evaluates the strength of the door and lock (As if determining the strength of a door of a castle or battlement) He is looking for weakness in the door, hinges, lock, doorknob, etc. (I'm assuming investigation which is a +3 role, Perception would be +4) 17
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Okay, don't worry about it Sparhawk, we'll find a way in somehow. I suppose we could get help from Irongrass to get inside again. It seems a bit risky to break into the place though, we don't know what defense mechanisms that are still protecting the windows and the door. I suppose we could just give up on this and move on, but I would very much prefer if we could find a way to resume our investigation of the wizards abode." Sorsha says to the others after a while. She then quickly walks around the house checking if there are any other entrances.
“I agree,” Vars says. “I’d rather not leave this unfinished. I someone goes to get lock picks while the rest of us see what we can do without them. Even if we don’t use the lock picks here, they will likely come in handy later.”
"Ok, it sounds like we will finish up this wizard business first. So, maybe Bjorn and one other can grab some lock picks, and or hire someone to pick the lock? I'd rather go in the way we already came then deal with a trapped second entrance. Sparhawk peers into the lock (assuming its an old style door lock to see if he can see anything familiar on the other side such as the overly zealous carpet. Also trying to evaluate if Frangipani could somehow fit through

It’s a very sturdy door That hinges on the interior. You could try and bash it down, but picking the lock might easier.

Around the sides of the building there are several more windows, clouded like the front ones. A chimney on the right and left side of the building leading up to the second floor balcony/ porch. Around the back there is a little bit of space and a door with no knob and no windows. If it were not for the moss growing on it, you might not have notice it was a door at all.

As you struggle to look through the keyhole, you can partially see the hallway. The sliced in half carpet fragment appears to be in the same place you left it. As you are trying to see the mechanism in the lock, a black orb appears on the other side of the keyhole. The beedy eye of a rat. It quickly darts away.
"Oh, there are rats in there, but it appears to be the hallway we entered before. My overly friendly dance partner, the rug is where we left it. I believe if we unlock the door normally, we can resume our search. I suspect if we break down the door, it may cause us more problems." Sparhawk had become used to living with rats during his very spartan existence during childhood and growing up on the battlefield.
(OOC: If only I'd chosen speak with animals as one of my spells...lol)
"Not with this guy around," Vars points a thumb at Bjorn. "Those things won't do anything if he's involved, will they?" He gives Bjorn a wry smile, as if daring him to prove him wrong. "You scared them out of their tiny minds."
After a moment he says, "Maybe Bjorn and I should just go find some lock picks. Perhaps then the rats will help you if you promise them safety from the rat catcher."
[Since no one seems to have noticed Bjorn's apparent intention to break a window, I'll just skip over it as well, lol.]
"I suppose we can search for a seller. I'm not pleased about the time we've wasted already, though." Bjorn impatiently taps his fingers on the handle of his weapon. "Ach! Looks like there's no other way in. Fine."

Bjorn's black eyebrow shoots up in a sudden show of irritation. "On second thought --" he hefts his club in hand, and begins stalking angrily towards the window.
Frangipani ventured, "I could maybe get a lot smaller and find another entrance."
(So, how did Sparhawk lock the door from the inside then?)

(Twisted the knob on the interior of the lock, like a deadbolt. You only need the key from the outside)

" Could we just ask the rats to unlatch the door?"

( this would make for a good anime series, lol)
“Agreed. Go get something to unlock the door. We can wait until you get back.”
