Kirstin had time to work on her character. Here's where we got to:
Air Genasi
Rogue
Persuasion - opted to focus
Perception
Stealth
Insight
Selected thieve tools
She was thinking of the character - unnamed as of yet - as a cheap illusionist cum con man - sort of like Gob from Arrested Development. Still working a bit on the back story and need to do some more research - I've been reading on forgotten realms, is that any good?
She rolled the following - actually our daughter rolled:
I was thinking a bit about my character's backstory. It goes something like this: Thorn Tongue is from the Thesk Mountains where he was the champion of his tribe - maybe the maul can tie into it some how?. Something happened - need to figure out what something good/something bad, I haven't really figured it out yet - and he decided to go into exile rather than being banished from the tribe.
He's trying to bring honor to a tribe he is no longer able to protect. He is focused on continuing to out due his past accomplishments and has appointed himself the 'protector' of the group.
Also, I'm thinking of only speaking in Van Damme quotes. Not quotes from his movie actually quotes from JCVD himself.

This is good work!
Not familiar with Arrested Development but having a core concept always helps. I'll do a bit of research on the character Gob so I can pick a magic item. The rolls are above average but not great. Did you roll 4 dice and drop the lowest? If so, I would recommend a 14 be put towards CON, 15 to DEX. That way she has two 16 stats. The other 14 should be in INT, probably.
Yes, Forgotten Realms is the setting where the adventure will be set, so keep reading!

OK, so Kirstin's magic item is obvious:
It's a Broom of Flying that she can disguise as a Segway (or any other type of transportation via the Minor Illusion cantrip). Here's the description:
Wondrous Item, uncommon
This wooden broom, which weighs 3 pounds, functions like a mundane broom until you stand astride it and speak its command word. It then hovers beneath you and can be ridden in the air. It has a flying speed of 50 feet. It can carry up to 400 pounds, but its flying speed becomes 30 feet while carrying over 200 pounds. The broom stops hovering when you land.
You can send the broom to travel alone to a destination within 1 mile of you if you speak the command word, name the location, and are familiar with that place. The broom comes back to you when you speak another command word, provided that the broom is still within 1 mile of you.
And since it's only uncommmon (you guys have rare or better), I will also give her another uncommon item, Gloves of Thievery:
Wondrous Item, uncommon
These gloves are invisible while worn. While wearing them, you gain a +5 bonus to Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) checks and Dexterity checks made to pick locks.

Vacation slowed the character building momentum. But, we'll be back in the swing of things next week - at least on our end.
My vote is 1. I was a big fan of the Magicians and think it would be cool to investigate Breakbills. Also, I was rethinking some of my character's background - maybe base him on Hyde from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. But without the Dr. part balancing him out.
Her Druid feels a stronger connection to story 2. But we are good either way.
My character has traveled the world, seen it all. He is a roguish entertainer talented and charming, but with a supremely high opinion of himself that he uses to justify almost any behavior. Think a more violent Liam Gallagher, with Larry David selfishness.
We are missing Kirstin's. Let me know if you need help creating it.
My proposal to you all is:
1. Let's spend the first little bit with a brief intro to some of the mechanics behind D&D - we have some players who haven't played before so I want to make sure to start with a primer on the following topics:
Using Your Character Sheet
Spells
Movement
Combat
2. Then we will play the adventure about the school of wizarding. If you like it and want to continue, the next one would focus on helping druids, so Theresa will surely like that one.
And I will put the stats in her character sheet as recommendations given her race and class. And, here, Theresa are two magic items for your character (since your rolls weren't the best):
Scimitar of Speed
Weapon (scimitar), very rare (requires attunement)
You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, you can make one attack with it as a bonus action on each of your turns.
Proficiency with a scimitar allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
Cloak of the Crow (reskinned from Cloak of the Bat)
Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement)
While wearing this cloak, you have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. You can grip the edges of the cloak with both hands and use it to fly at a speed of 40 feet.
While wearing the cloak, you can use your action to cast polymorph on yourself, transforming into a crow. While you are in the form of the crow, you retain your Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. The cloak can't be used this way again until the next dawn.

Sorry for the delay! My character is complete. My ‘motivation’ is the protagonist, Clever, from the show Rake. Hoping you all are familiar with the show?
What I like about Rake is he is smart, clever, a schemer to get what he wants, get out of trouble and he does it by getting people on his side, some would say manipulate. Things don’t always work out his way but he does not give up, makes the best of the situation he is in while scheming to get what he wants.
I'm not familiar with that show or character but sd long as you are.
So in terms of competing the characters here's what needs to get done:
The bard needs to select spells and that's it. Good job there.
The others I can't access as full characters yet but I'll edit them then you can make sure you are ok with what I've done.
I can't access Kirstin's at all. Did you create on using the online system. If not I can help finish it up Saturday as part of the tutorial on using the online character sheet.
I would recommend this and each of you should have a phoneor tablet handy with internet access. I have everything else.

I've picked two magic items, one for Jon and one for Nick.
Jon: rapier of dancing
Nick: maul of striking (refer to staff of striking)
I've posted descriptions below.

Hello, players!
April is upon us! (Not so much Spring.)
I'm checking in to see how character creation is progressing and to confirm our first game. I have it as Saturday April 21 starting at 11am.
Also, I have written 3 adventures and wanted to give you guys a choice of which one we start with.
1. Investigating a school of wizarding
2. Exploring the ruins of a keep where some mysterious force is causing the forests to sicken with blight
3. Exploring a keep thought to be inhabited by a dragon cult

Ok. Also please let me know where to be Saturday and where to park.

Not the best rolls but that 14 should be put in wisdom.
