A cataclysmic war among gods and mortals occurred on Exandria centuries ago. This war, known as the Calamity, ended when the Prime Deities locked the Betrayer Gods—and themselves—behind a Divine Gate that prevents the gods from directly interfering with the affairs of mortals.
The adventure begins in a region of Wildemount called Xhorhas in the town of Jigow during the annual festival of merit. A spirited event driven by friendly competition. The campaign will have the party travel through the wastes of Xhorhas, deal with rival factions in the oasis city of Ank'Harel on the continent of Marquet and eventually delve into the Netherdeep, an underwater lost city.
This is for ages 18+.
I am looking for 5 players for this campaign. Characters will begin at level 3. All official races and classes will be allowed. I am fairly new to DMing and this will be my first time running a Play by Post campaign. I have set up a discord server for character creation, campaign info, dice rolls and out of character discussions. Posting will be done on these forums but we will not use the dice rolling feature provided here. You will roll dice before you post using your dndbeyond character sheet, or in the discord channel and include the results in the post. Battle maps will also be posted and updated on discord.
Most of my posts will be done Monday through Friday 9am-4pm and 8pm-10pm cst. I will occasionally post out of that time frame as well but not often. Ideally, if you can post 1 to 2 times a day from Monday to Friday it would be great.
Please post to this thread with your D&D experience and a general idea of your character for this. I will leave recruitment open until June 9 at 12pm cst and decide the group at that time.
Character: Monk; He does not remember his past. His face was disfigured. He was left for dead in the sands. He had a pistol in his hand and it appeared he knew how to use it. He fashioned a mask to hide his grotesque features behind.
DnD Experience: 1 zoom campaign for the past year, one PbP campaign on this forum
Character: Alavarra Errora (wip) - half elf wild magic sorcerer orphan who grew up in a temple. She's capable of doing spells, but somehow her magic seems different from others', more wild somehow. She's sure that the magic is an inheritance from her elven parent, but she never knew them - all she has left from them is an amulet that she wears around her neck. She's desperate to leave the dreary confines of the temple where she's lived her whole life, and go adventuring to learn more about her past.
Just so everyone knows. Ability scores will be rolled in discord. No need to link a character yet, just a description of your character idea. If you do link a character just be aware the stats will change. More than likely for the better
D&D Experience: 3 years. Have DMed and played in a number of PbP campaigns, all using Discord and Avrae. I am committed to the posting rate specified and will always communicate ahead of time if I need to be offline for any reason so I don't hold up game progression.
My character idea is a Goblin Artificer who grew up in a settlement on a horizonback tortoise. She has lots of ideas on how to improve the speed and efficiency of the tortoise. But like all true geniuses before their time, these ideas are shunned as mere fancy. So she has struck out into the world to find those who would truly appreciate her brilliance. Never mind that she accidentally blew up the library. That wasn't her fault at all...it was an accident! She just has to fine tune these gauntlets a little...
D&D Experience: Two current PbP campaigns (this forum) and a few Discord/Avrae PbP over the past couple of years.
A character I would like to try is a Moon Druid/Barbarian (Bar-bear-ian) that focuses on tanky raging animal forms. She would be a child of the wilds, slightly feral, not raised by a family so much as her village. She's been self-taught in the Druidic arts, but is much better at being an animal than a spell-caster. Once she came of age, she set out to find someone to guide her in the more arcane aspects of being a Druid.
PD&D: three years of running/playing campaigns recently had to switch to pbp only for work so gotta get my dnd fix. Currently in other pbp games on discord as well.
I was thinking of playing a goblin twilight cleric or a ravinite paladin. Think the twilight domain look cool also Luxon be praised but I’d play either both look cool!
Race: Originally Drow, now Hollow One / Reborn Im not sure if hollow one is a race or additional stuff
Class: Warlock Undead, Undying, celestial or Hexblade
A few words to describe the character: Socially Akward, determined, naive As of now i am usure about the subclass i want to pick. generally i am going for a "resurrected warrior" type who can't really identify themself with armor and weapon. With the backstory i want to leave blank spaces to fill while playing and to better integrate into the story. In the end he will probably just fill a role that the party is missing.
Backstory: He woke up from a feverdream of battlefields, death without any memory of his past. He found himself in a desolate waste with large stone spikes emerging from the ground. He was not really alone though. Similar to a rope bound to his waste being pulled he felt the urge to wander. not with a target, but not aimlessly either. He walked with a purpose which he has yet to figure out.
DnD Exerience: Somehow a few years. I haven't spent much time actually playing but more preparing for my own campaigns that i could never start, creating characters or reading spell descriptions for fun. I have played in a pbp campaign before but my IRL experiences are limited to one-shots.
Chas (real name Chester) is a lizardfolk born in Jigow, and grown into a fine fisherman, of sorts. He mostly catches great crab beasts beneath the waves. He drives down and skewers them on long fishing knives, bringing them up for rich drow clientele. He enjoys the work, and the storytelling involved even more. Every day, the crustaceans get a bit bigger in his tales, and every tough patch of his scales becomes a scar gained during an epic struggle. That isn't to say the work isn't dangerous, but he has a tendency to exaggerate.
I just want a hungry, leathery, lizardfolk ranger (probably gloomstalker) who embellishes everything.
Experience: I play a butt load of pbp, run a dnd game on discord, and a cyberpunk Lowlife 2090 game on discord. I've been playing this way for several years. It's fun, suits my schedule. I try to post once or twice a day, occasionally more
Ok more interest in this than I thought. I will move the deadline to tomorrow, June 9 at 12pm cst for character idea submittal and choose 5 characters after that time. Some cool ideas so far!
Tired of working for thieves and people who mistreat him.
Looking to rebuild his life as an armed bodyguard for travelers, merchants, and adventurers.
DnD Experience:
I have played a little here and there, including one multi-week 4e campaign.
I have read through much of the core 5e basics and am messing around with the DnD Beyond interface to get acquainted with the specifics.
Other Relevant Experience:
I have several years of experience with asynchronous forum-based and chat-based gaming, including running a yearlong board game tournament via forums & slack.
I am highly active on Discord and know my way around dealing with forum posting quirks.
I have several years of MMO experience with tanking, healing, and other group-combat mechanics (which don't translate perfectly to DnD but are philosophically similar).
Time Commitment:
I have the best availability for Discord and such on weekdays, but I can (and will) check in on weekends as well.
I am going out-of-country for the first week of July, and I will have periodic internet access there, but I might not be super-active at that time.
DND Experience: Been playing on here for over 3 years, been doing DND since 3.5.
Character concept: My idea is a bugbear fighter/wizard combo. Starting with fighter1 / wizard 2, as we are going with 3rd level. Vlar is a mercinary veteran, who has spent time studying the more martial arts of wizardry. He is not an overly-nice individual, more interested with power than with being someone's friend.
DnD experience - in fits and spurts from the early 80s through 3rd edition, skipping over 4E, before landing firmly back into 5E
Character Concept - A city guard investigator turned rogue - previously on the trail of a deadly cult who may be behind the disappearance of my brother, I've been poisoned - leaving me with a debilitating sickness (lower con?) Id love to have cured, but leaving my keen intellect and powers of perception intact.
With my fast fingers and sharp senses I'm your eyes and ears for everything.
Hi, I would love to get a shot to join. DnD experience : I would say I have been really hooked for about 18 months now, so limited experience all in all. I have played in one face to face campaign and one PBP. I am also currently DMing for the first time (Curse of Strahd with a group of IRL friends that are playing DnD for the first time, it's a blast).
Character idea : A nomad cleric who grew in a religious setting/houseold. Religion is a family business. Unfortunately he did not have as much time as he would have wanted with his parents. Being the last of his siblings, most of them were already out of the house when he turned 16. While he cannot deny his faith and the powers it grants him, Sam travels the land torn between his will to share the light with others and trying to find answers to the numerous questions and doubts he has.
Yes, If there is anyone who drops for any reason I will refer back to this forum and contact those who did not get picked for open spots if needed before opening a new recruitment.

Fair enough - take those on the sheet as approximate then.
