It is a time of civil war. The evil GALACTIC EMPIRE rules over the galaxy, holding thousands of systems in its ever tightening grip.
Striking out from a hidden base, a small band of freedom fighters has dealt a serious blow to the Empire, destroying the dreaded Death Star.
Now on the run from Imperial troops, the REBEL ALLIANCE continues its struggle to restore freedom to the galaxy....
Part 1: THE PERLEMIAN HAUL
The galaxy is embroiled in a bitter civil war. Above the remote planet of Remduba II, an aging orbital platform may hold the key to striking a painful blow against the GALACTIC EMPIRE. Captured data reveals that the mysterious PERLEMIAN HAUL, an Imperial convoy filled with valuable information and powerful weapons, must stop there to refuel.
Now, an elite strike force of REBEL agents approach the station. Their goal: infiltrate the station, board one of the convoy's freighters, and commandeer it.
Remduba II is a cold, grey world with nothing but microbial life and deep core mining operations. Its companion, Martle Station, is hospitable only by comparison. An aging orbital platform with a small Imperial garrison, a squadron of TIE fighters, and bored and corrupt officials, its security should prove to be fairly lax. You approach Martle Station in a stolen, disarmed Lambda-class shuttle.
Introduce your characters and then we'll get into details of your mission.
“Actually, an interesting fact: the name of this base has its origin in a now extinct dialect from the words “Rim Dubas” which means the skin between the genitalia and anus. And as we all know is a slang term for a once popular form of freeform poetry.”
A blue alien with a bald head and large red eyes begins, before noticing a confused expression before him.
“I forgot to introduce myself again. Life was easier at the monastery where everyone knew who I was. My name is Omen’Tashan, and I am scholar, who studies the history of the force and its practitioners.”
Sitting across from Omen is an adorable furry creature, just under one space-meter tall and about 21.78 space-kg massive. The creature looks confusedly at Omen for a moment and Omen can see that the creature sitting across from him has a very symmetrical face. While the creature appears to be mostly white, it has black patches of fur over its eyes and ears. And its ears point up from the top of its head, although they look as thought they may flop backwards when it is not paying attention. The creature is wearing an engineer's uniform with lots of pockets and under that uniform there appears to be some sort of mesh armor.
The creature soon regains its composure and says in a high tone of voice, "Well it's very nice to meet you Mr. Tashan, or is it Omen?, may I call you Omen?, Omen, I think we are going to be fast and wonderful friends." While the creature may have asked questions he left no time for responses. "Omen, what would you say to having your very own Squib mission leader, to get you through these tough times? Well I can be that leader!"
"My name is Randy and my pronouns are he, him, his and awesome. I am an engineer with a meticulous mind and while I am sure you are great at your task, you seem absent minded. So, I'll lead this mission and with just a few installments of your continued trust and cooperation, we will get through this mission TOGETHER! So how about it?!?"
Having given his sales pitch the adorable furry creature looks at Omen expectantly.
“Um. Yes, okay Mr. Randy. But what task is this? I’ve been studying the lore, history of the station, but I seem to be missing an itinerary, executive mission brief, or even a dossier. I am of mind to complain to the manager.”
After some small talk, you two think back to your briefing aboard the Rebel Cruiser Liberty.
You met with General Carlist Rieekan, formerly of Alderaan.
This is the information he gave you;
The Perlemian Haul refers to a secret Imperial convoy that purportedly plies the Perlemian Trade Route. Its existence has never been proven, and it is typically considered to be a myth. If it exists, it is used by the Empire to transport highly classified equipment, classified prisoners, or important personnel between Imperial installations.
The convoy is rumored to be composed of modified bulk transports and escorted by heavily armed capital ships that carry no Imperial markings or insignia.
Your target is Freighter M226. Inside Freighter M226's three massive holds are enough blasters and rifles to keep the Rebellion alive. The freighter's captain, Lt. Commander Jilan Noor, is a highly motivated career officer who may be facing court martial, making him even more eager to prove himself.
You must infiltrate Martle Station using cover identities as traders, then contact a local informant named Passk. He should be able to assist you in your efforts to infiltrate Freighter M226. Once aboard, you are to commandeer the vessel by any means available, drop out of hyperspace, and rendezvous with an Alliance strike group that will take possession of the ship.
"We need to contact our contact, Passk. Once we meet up with him we will make a deal with him. Don't worry about that. I'm great at deals." Randy rubs his small furry paws together in anticipation of the deal to come.
“A thousand! I’d start with what are the etymological origins of your surname Noor? As for the Martle station, is it named for General Martle, or Grand Mott Martle? Each has such an interesting history in the ancient Republic, as we all know, but such total opposites! Is there perhaps an information kiosk, or a guided tour aboard the station? I’d die if there was one of those little museums aboard with some memorabilia. Those can be a treasure trove of information and usually have the best souvenirs.”
Omen’Tashan notices the blank stares…
”I’m getting side tracked again. Maybe, just one question? What sort of species is our contact, this Passk fellow?”
The General blinks for a second and then continues. "Um..yes. Passk is a Trandoshan, and he runs a curiosities shop on the station called Passk's Oddities. Perhaps he will be able to answer a few of your...questions."
"I'm sorry, but the Rebellion can't afford to pay you until the mission is complete." He looks at a computer monitor, reviewing the mission again. "Any other questions, gentlemen?"
"It all sounds good to me." Randy ticks off the points on his paw. "We get in. Find this Passk. And steal freighter M226. Anything else we should know about this freighter and her Noor?"
General Rieekan types something into the computer and a diagram of a freighter appears.
"Freighter M226 is a slightly modified Temple-class heavy freighter. Its three modular cargo holds, from fore to aft, are designated Mem, Aurek, and Dorn. Which cargo hold contains the weapons we need is unknown, as are the contents of the remaining holds."
He brings up a picture of the Lieutenant Commander on the computer screen.
"Jilan Noor is a human male in his early thirties. He is a career Navy officer, having risen quickly through the ranks after graduating from the Imperial Academy at the top of his class. He is ruthless and punishes failure harshly among his subordinates. Rumor is he was recentlyreassigned to the freighter as a form of punishment. He abhors his assignment and lets everyone know it."
The fuzzy Randy rubs his paws together as he looks at the picture of the human. "A customer's, I mean person's, dissatisfaction can always be capitalized on. Maybe we can find him a job he would prefer to distract him from the job he is supposed to be doing." Randy looks back at the general. "Anything else we should know about? Maybe something about the station or the system in general. Any nasty surprises you can spoil for us? We're working for you, and if you want the most bang for your buck you should tell us everything you know."
"Yes, of course," he says as he checks the computer for information. "Ah, here we are."
“Martle Station is an aging orbital platform that serves as a cargo transfer and refueling point. We think it was built before the Clone Wars. The station is home to nearly 2,000 citizens, of which the majority are working-class people employed as dockworkers, shiphands, and station support staff, as well as civilian business people and employees working to keep the former fed and entertained. The rest are Imperial.”
“The station is overseen by Varla Prule, the Imperial governor of the Remduba system. We don't know much about her, but we do know she's corrupt. We have heard vague rumors of her shady deals.”
“The planet of Remduba II is nothing special, the only reason anyone bothers with the place is some mining. The Remduba system is equally unremarkable.”
“Nothing special?! Nothing SPECIAL?!!” Omen’Tashen says choking down his disbelief. “Do you realize Remduba II is the native home to the Orkesh Gloworm? It is the only species known to subsist entirely on its own fecal matter! That’s pretty special if you ask me.”
