Vyranorae looks at the bartender quizzically, no one has ever showed him this much kindness. He slowly cleans his wound and stares thoughtfully into the distance.
Marbin, you signal to one of the barmaids wandering around and serving customers, a colorful Rainbow-Macaw Kenku. she takes down your order and leaves with a smile. The Orcs all cheer again when you announce your willingness to participate in their game. "Well, the initial buy-in is 20 GP, but you can go higher. If you win, you get 30 GP back, if not it all goes in the pot to be gambled off later." He gives you a hearty chuckle, slapping you on the back once more. "Oh, and the name's Xig, and these idiots are my friends. You'll be playing against me for blackjack. Know the rules?"
Mazorn, seeing that Xig is currently busy giving the run-down with Marbin, you go to another not-as-lively orc. He seems to almost sink into his seat, constantly looking like he'll melt right through it. As you approach, though, he gives you a friendly wave. He waits until you finish and nods. "Ah, so you're a traveler. Welcome. You're in Iuriobi. It's a pretty big city, with tons to do and plenty of problems to go and solve. You look like the adventuring type, so I bet if you just ask there's plenty of people willing to pay good money or offer housing in exchange for whatever you do. I mean, if you want me to go more into the specifics, just let me know."
At the bar, the firbolg bartender nods and gives you, Eir, your ale. He leans in and flicks his head over in the direction of the group with the armbands. "I don't suggest hanging 'round those people. They're not too friendly, and some of the most dangerous people around here. Part of some group called 'The Church of Nebulae.' I'd stay outta their way, if I were you."
The same man with the blue armband looks right in your eyes, Aaron. His eyes are a striking sapphire blue; you weren't sure eyes could come in that color. He furrows his brow and presses his lips together in a sympathetic smile. "Well, I'm sorry," his voice suddenly becomes animated, a display of faux worry. "I didn't mean to hurt your friend's feelings. But the statement still stands. We're here on private business, and we'd like it if it was kept that way."

Vyranorae sighs and stands, ignoring his tankard of Ale, he then approaches the group with the blue armbands. He regards them with mistrust as he says, "Hello, I'm a traveler, was wondering if you could give me directions." He stops there and stares into the distance.
"Hah, right. What makes you think you're so special?" he scoffs. The one named My gets up and whispers something to the man; he sighs and waves his hand at her in a mix of annoyance and acknowledgement. She counters the table to where you stand, Aaron, and faces you directly. She's short, for an elf. Those same blue eyes that were inset in the man's face now look up at you with regret. "I'm really sorry, and everyone else here is too. Probably." She sounds genuine. She looks at the man, then back at you. "We're just having an important conversation, and we need a little privacy. But," she looks once again at the man and back at you, "that doesn't excuse us being rude. Sorry." My then makes a beeline to where you sit, Eir, and clasps her hands. "Sorry for being so rude, that wasn't our intention. Would you like anything to drink? It's on us, this time."
You find the one that smacked My on the back of her head earlier, Vyranorae, and ask her your question. She was the only one that didn't seem too interested in the exchange between Aaron and the man. "Directions? Sure. Where to?"

"30 gold might be a bit rich for my blood, how about 5 gold for the experience. Whaddya say?" Marbin says standing on his stool to meet the eyes of the orc.
Aryn, it doesn't take long for the bartender to finish his conversation. Standing tall at 7-ish feet, the firbolg would loom over the bar if not for his overly friendly demeanor. "One ale? Coming right up." He gives you your drink and smiles at you. "Well, you're a newcomer, eh? We've got a lot to do, in this old city I call home. You're in Iuriobi, the largest city this side of the country. What do ya want to know? I've been around a while, but not enough to have traveled outside the city, so you're outta luck if that's the information ya want." He picks up a glass and absentmindedly wipes it down with the towel that was stuffed in his apron as he talks.
Aryn laughs a little nervously, glancing around at the commotion her friends are making. Two of them have joined her at the bar, however, and she feels a little more confident.
"I was wondering if you know of any adventuring work that might be available around here. Or maybe some local hero who might be looking for some help? Anything at all, really."
She hesitantly pats the hair on the sides of her face, hoping her pointed ears are fully covered. There was no telling how these people might react to so many non-humans in their midst, and humans are notoriously unpredictable. She glances over to Vyranorae, hoping he might help her. She's terrible at socializing.
No worrys, i was a bit rude trying to join a table full of strangers while you guys were talking. As you can see i have a ale of my own so theres no need but i aprecciate the offer.
"I guess that's alright." Xig nods, puckering his bottom lip in acknowledgement. The other orcs have finished their current game and have turned their attention to you and Xig.
How to play:
(ooc: we'll be playing a modified version of blackjack (also called 21) with dice. Essentially, we both roll 2d10 dice separately to start, no modifiers. We both then have to option to roll extra d10s, as many as you want, with the goal of getting close or equal to a sum of 21. If I go over a sum of 21, you win 8 GP. If you go over a sum of 21, you pay your 5 GP bet. If you get exactly 21, you get 10 GP. If I get exactly 21, you lose again. If we tie, you get your 5 GP back. All dice rolls are treated as face value; except for natural 1s, which could be either 1s or 11s. Your choice. You can roll dice in-chat by typing in [ roll ](number)d(value)[/ roll ], no spaces or caps. In this case, that would be [ roll ]2d10[ roll ] for the start. Please don't roll out of chat! And make your rolls in a separate post than your RP, and don't edit the post once you've posted. If you do, it messes up with the roll and it gets frustrating. You'll see a "Manipulated Rolls" tag if you do.)
The bartender slides back over to you, Aryn. "Well, I bet if ya ask around you're bound to find someone. You could also take a look over in the city center, they normally have a board up where people post 'Help Wanted' posters. There's always something to do. Start there, and let me know how it goes." He slides over to Eir, not having noticed anything amiss about you or your ears.
My nods and smiles, "Of course. Let me know if you need anything else." She unclasps her hands and puts one on the bar quickly, and then leaves to join the rest of her group. You notice that she left a small sheet of [Tooltip Not Found] behind. Just as you take a look, the bartender returns to answer your question. "Gods? Goddesses? They've been dead for years, mate. Eons. They worship another celestial being, something called a nebulae. Notice their blue eyes?" You look over and indeed see that their eyes are all the same shade of blue. "They claim it helps them see up into space. They say they look for new gods to rule our world. Well I say it's sorcery, magic, and they should be punished for it. But, their leader is one of the highest ranking political advisors on the planet, so normally ya don't mess with 'em. Jus' stay outta their way, and you'll be fine. An' it's no bother to me at all, talking with folks is the best part of the job. Surprising what you find out listening to people the a bar."

Mazorn walked up to the bartender. He/she/they’d probably have the most information on this. “Do you happen to know of anyone who might looking to hire an adventurer?”
"Well," He says, sliding over in your direction, Mazorn, "I don't know anyone personally. But," He takes a second to scan the room around you. "You can normally tell who needs help and who needs help but won't say so jus' by looking at 'em. For example," he points over to the orc you were just talking to, "That man needs help with something, but is too afraid to interrupt his other friends, cause they're having fun. That person over there," he then points over to the hooded person in the back, "might need a... favor, or two. Usually the shadier stuff happens in the backs of taverns, and the brooding people are the ones that initiate it. Oh, I just remembered that those two lovely women over there need a little help with setting up for their wedding," he jerks his head over to the couple he was conversing with earlier, "and they wouldn't mind a few extra hands. They also want to keep their exes from crashing, so if guarding and fighting is more your style, they'll appreciate that too. I was just telling this one," he points at you, Aryn, "that there's also a bulletin board over in the town center where people normally post these kinds of things."
“Thank you.” Mazorn said to the bartender. He walked back to the bulletin. If anything caught his interest he might go do that, or if not he’d ask the orc what he needed.
Vyranorae looks into the distance, and then brings himself back to earth and responds to the group with the blue armbands. "Um, thanks. I need directions to, to the, well never mind." With that he walks away.
