Corvus watches all of this go down from the mouth of the cave. His eyes flash with interest as the sigils appear beneath them and Drezmir rushes recklessly towards them.
Vex, just like when Drezmir raised the giant from the dead in the final quest, just stares blankly at the situation, as his glaive and eyes revert to their normal state. This is Vex’s average Tuesday most of the time. Chaotic.
Jess was wise retreating before even reading the magical energy. It was not the magic these men had cast before. It seemed to react to the men's wounds. Whoever sent them.. Cared little for their lives. The sigils had gone off! Exploding both of the men! (15feet of explosion around each man. For those who didn't move Dex save of 13DC or higher needed.) Vex tried to read this magic but.. Nothing could be learned from the sigils marks sadly. After the explosion the coat came flying down in pieces so had a letter but the letter was torn to several pieces. The words "Demon" and "Drezmir" could be seen on a few pieces but the others were difficult to make out. Gilded couldn't make out the magic. The Cultist look at him rather confused but as Jess knows they couldn't stop this spell even if they wanted to. Drez comes closer (Within range) the one closer looks at Drezmir with a grin. Corvus was able to detect exactly what this was.
"His power grows, Fulgur will be defeated! The followers of Fulgur will... One day understand! The true god of lightning! Romalia will be saved! No longer under the boot of Germuid.. The protection of Radiance. Romalia will become.. Divine.
BOOM! That's when the explosion had gone off. Gwen had ran in covering Drezmir! (Drezmir doesn't have to make the save but she takes full damage)
"Drezmir! What the hell was that?! You're usually more collected than this! You can't.. Throw you're life away no matter who they were!"
Gwen hits at Drezmir's chest as blood ran through her armor with a heavy sigh.

Gilded's shielded position is protecting Sloden's KO'd body!
Drezmir stumbles backwards, surprised that Gwen had put herself in harms way for him. “I…hadn’t thought…” he shakes his head. “I thought they were getting ready to teleport, not…explode! Great Fulgur, are you alright?” Concern floods his voice as he takes in her injuries, “Why would you do that? Why take the blow for me? Please tell me you’ve got a healing potion for yourself.”
He looks around, realizing that Sloden is still on the ground, “Gods above, this is my fault. I had no idea there was anyone tracking me!” He clenches his fists, and his hands begin to shake, though it is unclear if it’s out of shock or anger. He looks for a moment as if he would say more, but he finds himself at a loss as he realizes that everyone had just risked their lives to keep him away from those people.
Gilded asks no one in particular. "What was that all about." He turns and looks at Drez. "We were willing to die for you, i think we drserve some kind of explanation."
He walks to where the cultists dropped theor weapons and tries to find them.
By the time Corvus remembered what the digits meant, it was to late. He watched as his companions were briefly engulfed in flame. He shakes his head. Why had they been so foolish? Was he really the only one who recognized those digits. Ah well, at least they weren’t dead.
Gwen’s actions towards Drezmir surprised him. Why is she so willing to give her life for someone she just met? He closes his eyes. At least they were all alive, he still has use for them.
(OOC: I wasn’t sure, I know Vex was going to help him but I didn’t think we got that far in initiative before the explosion.)
Drezmir turns to Gilded, “Yes, I cannot argue with that. I’d hoped to wait until we’d returned to the tavern, and everyone had recovered, before discussing this…I have to say…I wasn’t expecting any of you to be so willing to put your lives on the line for me. I mean…sure we’ve done some quests together but, we haven’t known each other for more than a couple days.” He lowers his gaze, “I guess I’m just not used to having people outside of the monastery who trust me.”
(If Vex didn’t get to help Sloden, Drez will do so here, using Sloden’s health potion.)
“I shall wait until everyone can hear. Sloden deserves to know this as well.”
Once Sloden is awake, Drezmir remains silent for a moment before turning back to Gilded, Gwen and Corvus.
His gaze shifts to the blackened ground, “In all honesty, I can’t say what they really wanted. All I know was everything they told you was a lie. I…” He hesitates as if unsure how to continue, “Those men, as Vex here seems to already know, were part of a cult that worships a Kitsune demon. That demon laid waste to the Village I call home about 300 years ago. It is currently sealed away in a shrine not to far outside my village. However, the shrine cannot hold it forever, so the elders took measures to ensure that we would be ready when the beast broke free.”He pauses, shakily pulling back his sleeve to reveal more of the scars, “When I was six years of age, I was chosen to undergo a ritual.” His voice takes on a more determined tone, “I was chosen to fight this demon, to be the first line of defense when it breaks loose. That I think is the main reason these men were after me. Because it is my destiny to kill their god.”
Gwen chuckles as he ask if she has a potion, she shakes her head at him but simply flicks him on the forehead instead.
"It's fine, it looks worse than it was. Why were they here though? Tracking you? Why? And what was that talk of replacing Romalia's god?"
Gilded is able to find two rather basic daggers and destroyed Arcane focus's. Gwen looks Kocino with a bit of worry.
"Kocino! You okay?! I'm sorry I couldn't protect everyone.. As a Knight I should be ashamed."
Gwen had just thought about Drezmir's question her blood beginning to calm down. Why would she do that..?
"Why would I do that..? W-Well.. I mean.. as a knight I should be willing to protect who I can. That's the promise we make right?"
10 Her deception roll vs Insight
Gwen listened to Drezmir she tried to hide her surprise but.. Well she couldn't keep a straight face. It was a lot to take in. She looks to the group and takes a deep breath.
"Who here.. Worships Fulgur and who here is from Romalia? I only ask because.. They could become targets alongside Drezmir if he's truly being tracked. ..Drezmir that's.. A lot of pressure. I had no idea... They expect you to kill something.. That Fulgur had to slay themselves?"
Those who believe in Fulgur here as their primary god can here something.. Regardless if they were a paladin or not. "Be.. Careful.." The voice seems.. Distorted and the connection seems weak. "..Thank..You.." is all they can hear before the voice is gone.
Gwen sits over next to Sloden as Vex heals him awake.
"Are you holding up okay?"
OOC:
Vex can heal Sloden before it explodes but Vex,Sloden and you can all make a save. Or for rule of cool Gilded can take 10 damage and protect Vex and Sloden if you prefer ^^
If you wait another 30 minutes those who didn't fight get to have the short rest ^^ But I feel like everybody fought xD Want to attempt a rest again? Head back? After the talk of course
OOC: Was that in or out of character? And as a DM I can't say what is happening among the world or group. xD If you wish to attempt to rest again you may try for the full hour. It is up to you all ^^
Or try moving and resting. Pro's and con's to moving area's for sure but it's up to you all.
"Interesting," Corvus thinks to himself, "No wonder my patron feels kinship towards this man. I wonder what this ritual entailed. Seems I've had a stoke of luck with this group."
Drezmir blinks in surprise after Gwen flicks his forehead. When she answers his question by simply saying that she is a knight, he nods, “I see…”
Insight: 7
His brow farrows slightly as he realizes that she isn’t being completely honest. Yet he doesn’t fully understand the situation either, so he doesn’t press the matter.
When she proceeds to ask if anyone else follows Fulgur, and comments on the pressure he must be under he says, “Unfortunately I’m not sure it matters what god you follow. I fear that simply being in my presence will make targets out of all of you.” He lets out a breath, then laughs a little, “Sure, there’s a lot of pressure alright. But it’s not that bad. It’s my destiny to fight this demon, I have Fulgur’s blessing.”He tilts his head upward to silently acknowledge the voice. “I cannot fail.” He smiles at his comrades, “This is why I must work to become stronger. I can’t help but feel like I haven’t been contributing much to these fights.” He looks ruefully at his crossbow. “So, if you decide that you do not wish me to stay with this team, I will understand. I am grateful to all of you, no one outside the monastery has ever treated me like…well…a person before.”
Kocino approaches Gwen. “Don’t be silly. Im an adult and as such, chose to put myself in danger. Don’t overextend yourself. Nobody can save everyone.”
Listening as Drezmir gives context to their most recent encounter, Kocino chuckles. “First off, we just spent the last two days chasing goblins, bandits, and giants around the countryside. Our safety is clearly not our top priority. Second, not more than two hours ago you raised a giant from the dead to nearly smash the head off a second giant. That alone was bigger than any missed shots that you might be feeling bad about.”
He pats Drez on the back. “I’d be happy to continue fighting with you. Plus helping to kill a demon/god sounds like a wicked time.”
Jess was quietly absorbing all these conversations about deities and demons and keeping her thoughts to herself for now. To be honest, it was all a bit much for her to process. I've never had to think about such complicated matters before, she mused. It was always just me and the sea. I developed a sense of rightness to the world, the beauty of natural simplicity, and now these good people I'm with are challenging my preconceived notions. Could it be that natural simplicity is one virtue, but not the only virtue...?
(aw man, as I was catching up, I thought "I'm gonna tackle Drez to the ground to shield him" but friggin gwen beat me to it! Lol)
Sloden stirs awake, now a bloody mess. He listens intently in quiet, as seems to be his custom, while he tries to wipe away the worst of it from his face, chest and hands.
"Drez, I'm so sorry. Forced into something like that as a child."
He spits out a wad of bloody something.
"Whatever else may happen, I'd like you to allow me to help you with this. It isn't right that you were shouldered with the responsibilities of others, and it would be worse to force you to do it alone. So please, let me help."

Do I need a dex save or do I take 10 damage?? Lol, or both.
Is Sloden still down, I thought Vex helped him.
