My parents were killed when I was young by frost giants storming through the forest looking for food. I was sent to learn under an elder of my collective. While learning my skills of the forest I learned how to survive on my own. I have always be frugal almost to a fault and hate to waste resources. Once I reached the age of independence I left my mentor and went to avenge my parents death against any beast or giant I could find and my tale continues until my heart is satified.
Something different: I enjoy playing the game so I will stay up to date. Playing a character who is a bit of a hoarder/cheapskate is fun for me and am willing to keep track of the inventory/important names and places for the group as that can be challenging as a story line progresses.
Backstory: Dormaer has always done it alone, his parents left him for dead at 15 years old after he contracted sewer plague. Several hours later he was hopeless, starving, and dying. But all of that changed when she found him, Alicia was a widow living in the town of Baldurs Gate, and when she saw him lying there, it was like the piece of her heart that was lost with her husband had been replaced. Sadly she died in a house fire 10 years later, Dormaers greatest regret is that he couldn't save her. So he struck out on his own. Her dream was to build a church over where they lived, but to do that she needed hundreds of gold pieces. Which they never had. He hasn't given up on that dream yet.
Something different: I love dnd, this is my passion. I check dndbeyond at least 5 times a day, and have gotten quite adept at role-playing. Backstory: Nate is an offspring of a rich family in Baldurs Gate who has cut all connections to the family after they let him down in the first year at the magic academy. He broke the noses of some other scholars after they harassed a girl there and instead of helping him, they sided with the political heavy parents of the boys. He simply quitted school for that and then joined the military for the next years, to travel the world and get paid for it. His magical abilities were a good help there. After his service was done he lived the life of an adventurer, traveling from place to place and earn money in many ways. Back in Baldurs Gate, under a fake identity, he currently earns his money as as a mediocre private eye. Solving cases that the city watch is not interested in, all for some coins. He is short of money most of the time and a slightly shady figure, but he has a good heart (but plays the rough guy).
His morality is grayish when he thinks, he's doing the right thing. If quirks are needed he had a traumatic experience involving a mimic chest, so that he stabs every chest before he gets close.

I'm DMing games for quite a long time now. Usualy at weekend evenings and nights for friends. Remotely in the past years. If you consider 36 as old fart then I'm an old fart too. As a family man I don't have the time to cut off any more 4h chunks of time to play a real-time online session game but PbP would fit perfectly, since I really want to play the game, too but preferably with an experienced DM. My play style is roleplay heavy and if possible being creative with everything at hand. I'm the type that casts flesh to stone on a mate, then stoneshape him two additional arms and a different face and then cast greater restoration or the likes to have him look and walk around like an ancient God so we can convince villagers to help us.
If that sounds okay to you, I'd be glad to be part of the party.

Edmond loves music, loves making music, and loves making the tools for others to make music. For decades he has made a name for himself as one of the city's two finest craftsmen of musical instruments. Recently, however, things have changed. Alder and Ash finally left the nest. His youngest sons, the twins had dragged their feet when it came to launching, but were finally able to buy their own leather shop and now live together in the upstairs. Which has left Edmond and his wife, Haydée, quite alone in the house. It has been wonderful, of course. And with more time on his hands, Edmond has begun practicing more and, for the first time in however long, he has started performing.
That's it. No traumas or tragedies. No murder or revenge. Just a solid, stable fellow trying to do his best.
But now their home, Baldur's Gate, calls for help. And Edmond will answer.
What do I bring to the party? Usually soda and chips, but this is PbP, so you're out of luck. Perhaps some stability. A sprinkling of dad jokes. Edmond will do what needs to be done, and he won't let hubris (or hormones) determine his course.
Class/Choice of Specialization: Cleric (Nature Domain)
Race: Earth Genasi
Backstory: He was brought into the Material Plane from the Earth Plane, Geord has been a wanderer of the Material Plane trying to protect it from growing evil. He had a vision from Chauntea, the Grain Goddess, when he was a teenager. He didn't quite understood the vision but he knew he was destined for great things. His mother and father were farmers and healers of the land. He learned to be one with the earth and all the inhabitants. Even with the good, he believed that evil is there to balance it out like in nature. As he got older his visions got stronger and stronger. His parents were worried but they knew too that he was destined to be something great. One day, Chauntea appeared to him and his parents. She tells him to go to Material Plane with her to help. Evil has been growing and there was an imbalance in nature. His parents gave him their blessing and he promise to them that he would return one day. He shakes his fathers hand and hugs him. He kisses his mother on the cheek and hugs her. Chauntea then takes him by the hand and a portal appeared. Unlike the earth plane that he lives in where it is mountainous and desert-like, he looks into the portal to see a lush green forest. His eyes widen to see such vegetation as it was difficult to cultivate at home. His parents were masters of the land and knew how to farm and cultivate in a difficult terrain. He looks back at them and waves goodbye as he enters the portal with the goddess, Chauntea.
Something different: Enjoy being humorous and serious in pbp and ooc. Laid back but eager to post.
The first thing he remembered was walking into the floating bar, the Low Lantern. Immediately someone noted that he was behaving odd, and Oddly became his name. He had no memory of who he was, or what he was. However he has dreams. In his dreams he marches with an army of fiends. Commanding them. Wielding fell powers against demonic hoards. He was a being of power, and he gloried in it, but his heart was shamed.
And sometimes he remembers of a time before this glory, of a foolish young human who had lost his family, and would have done anything to get them back, including making a hellish bargain. None of this is real? Just dreams? Or maybe something.
Perhaps there is redemption for him in the Flaming Fists.
Background: He is middle aged, being about 35. Since he was little, he has devoted himself to being a bard. He threw himself into his studies, trying to pinpoint the best skills and has just headed out on his first adventure. But, he occasionally has dreams. Strange dreams of a time before he was born. Dreams of a great green dragon, thousands of years old. In these dreams, he is inside of the dragon, destroying the town of the famous dragonmancer. Then, the dreams end. He still doesn't know what they mean, but he hoped to prove himself worthy by assisting others in their quests in the hope that he might become a green dragon like the one in his dreams.
As there seems already to be a bard in the company, I'll offer an alternative to my bard.
Lord Zarquon the Magnificent
Backstory:
"Rejoice in your salvation, people of Baldur's Gate," announces the aasimar with arms flung wide, "For I, Lord Zarquon the Magnificent, am a GOD!" That last word reverberates throughout the hall as Zarquon stands triumphant, his eyes raised to heaven.
The clerk across the table gives him a bland look, completely unimpressed. As the moment stretches, those waiting behind Zarquon begin to mutter, and he glances furtively at the clerk while trying not to lower his chin. Finally, the bored human sighs. "I suppose you'll do," he manages, and records the name.
Zarquon drops his arms and bobs his head. "Thank you," he manages meekly. As he shuffles to the next table to sign the paperwork, the clerk calls, "Next!"
Lord Zarquon the Magnificent is, indeed, a god. The civilization that worshipped him is long extinct, his temples abandoned, his name forgotten. Until. Until one of his temples was plundered rediscovered by some intrepid archaeologists who brought several items out into the light of day. One, a ceramic offering bowl overlayed with gold, made its way to the home of a wealthy young noble in Baldur's Gate. His little daughter thought it was a candy dish and put a candy in it.
The candy offering disappeared. Zarquon stirred. The girl and her friends played with it - putting in trinkets, food, and even a few coppers that all disappeared - until Zarquon himself appeared before them in all his glory, prepared to bestow upon his new adorable high priestess POWER BEYOND IMAGINING!
Her guards prompty grabbed him and tossed him to the cobblestones. It was all rather embarrassing, really and he'd rather not talk about it.
Fumbling to reconnect with his ancient power, the deity is still determined to protect his new followers however he can. If that means plunging into Avernus, so be it.
