Backstory: Verona is plagued by a thirst for blood. For a time she even lived in Baldur's Gate. She worked as an assistance to Varyn and elderly man who ran an apothecary. She had enough to put food on the table and a tiny cramped hovel for a home. Unfortunately her thirst for blood over took her. Verona pounced on the poor man to slake her thirst.
Seeing what she had done Verona ran out of the city and went into a self-imposed exile into the Woods of Sharp Teeth. It was there that dryad Welfina took pity and trained her on how to accept her nature. It took hard work and discipline, but Verona was able to control her urges and gain the secret knowledge found in nature. She felt like she needed to redeem herself. Once packed with her few possessions Verona made her way back to Baldur's Gate to help Varyn's family. Seeing the refugees suffering Verona took this as a sign and decided to help these people anyway she could.
Backstory: Erana worked as a librarian in Amn and was strictly trained in the mystic arts by the Alash Vy a dour grandfatherly man. She was thrilled to be an initiate of the Cowled Wizards. She thought she was part of a organization that pursued knowledge and pursue new ways to create spells. Her dreams were shattered when she was asked to kill another a foreign spellcaster due to political reasons. She knew what her fate would be if did not complete her task, but she could not bring herself to do it. In the dead of night she packed the few items she had and quietly left for Baldur's Gate. There she hoped to find a new home. She was astonish to see the city straining with the influx of refugees. Right then and there she decided she needed to help stabilize her new home as she can no longer go back to Amn.
May I introduce Captain Thomas Drake, an erstwhile privateer out of Waterdeep, temporarily land-bound due to the mutiny of his previous crew, who stole his ship 'The Kraken's Maw'. Not keen to risk Umberlee's wrath by killing what they saw as one of her people, they left him marooned far out from land in the Sea of Swords, hoping starvation or thirst would do for him, not realising the adaptability of his kind. His journey back to a port city is something of a saga, but involved earning the favour of a Triton Princess and subsequently stowing away on a merchant vessel which limped into port after an epic storm nearly destroyed it, saved only by Thomas coming out of hiding and helming the ship through the storm...
Thomas can currently be found propping up a bar in the dockside area of Baldur’s Gate, threatening to run through anyone who he thinks is looking askance in his direction. He is currently Not In A Good Mood as he schemes for a way to earn the money (legally or otherwise) to buy a ship and start hunting for his former crew….

Yusuf al-Hafeez is a nineteen-year-old male Zakharan Askar (Soldier) from the small town of Mina. Raised under the tutelage of his brothers, father and grandfathers, all highly experienced Askar's in their own right, Yusuf excelled in the martial skills needed to protect his town from without and within against those who would wish harm upon its populace. At the age of sixteen, it was expected that he would seek marriage and raise children of his own, Yusuf however, had other plans. He began to seek duties that would take him to the borders and if possible, away from his home; he had no desire for marriage, as there was far too much to experience before he made such an important decision. Two years passed, and with his excellent performance, he was promoted to an envious post within town as a port customs officer.
Now that he'd returned and could no longer avoid his family, his parents and grandparents made the decision for him, and arranged for him to be married to the daughter of a family friend. Casually talking this over with his friend a local trade ship captain, he was offered an altogether unforeseen opportunity to become a sailor and protector of the vessel on its trade route along the coast of the Great Sea. There were many Corsairs, and his help would be greatly appreciated. Yusuf took up his offer, and before his family could stop him, he took the next trip out.
It was at his arrival in Zazesspur that he found what he was looking for, a change. Surrounded by the green vistas against a backdrop of mountains, he decided there and then to look further north and gain the experience he'd never find in Mina, and if he were lucky, a spouse he could love and bring home to his family. Joining a local band of trade route guards protecting rugs imported from Tajar, Yusuf marched north to their destination, Baldur's Gate.

Backstory: Myslen was summoned to Baldur's Gate by the gods, about two weeks before the disappearance of the City of Elturel. She was told to purge the criminal vermin from the city at all costs. She now works as an investigator, and spends night and day searching for criminals to put behind bars. When all of these refugees came to Baldur's Gate for refuge, she was one of the first to advocate that the city allows them in, but her higher-ups decided against that. Whenever she can get away with it, she get a couple of people into the city at a time, providing them a place to stay until they can take care of themselves.
Tinker once knew the young Kobold life of scavenging and robbing caravans in the Sword Mountains, until his tribe was captured and coerced to work for some cult who wanted to please the "Dragon Queen." Tinker brought cart after cart of treasure into a swamp castle and lived comfortably enough that he was able to develop some inventions to give to the Dragon Queen. But Tinker, like the other Kobold, were kicked to the side by the bigger, fancier cult members.
But one day the castle was attacked. A small, motley crew breached the defenses and slaughtered almost all the cult members. Tinker was smart: he hid. When he emerged he found the castle was plundered of nearly every treasure except for the strange stick (his quarterstaff). He took that stick and in exchange for its access and some minor chores, received magical training and academic schooling. He learned this was the broken end of a Giant's Magic Wand. He was journeying to Elturel to learn more, but the city vanished, and now Tinker is in Baldur's Gate, at a dead end in his journey...
A beautiful, golden scaled and silver tongued female Dragonborn Aurelia is - seemingly - a recent arrival in Baldur's Gate but has already begun to make a name for herself as a thief and conwoman who only targets the undeserving.
In truth she was born in the city nearly thirty years ago though very few know this or that she was originally the very human and very male scoundrel Diero Falone. Six months ago Diero's misadventures eventually caught up with him and he was unceremoniously killed by his enemies. This would have been the end but for a friendly druid who owed Falone a favour for rescuing his daughter from cultists and who cast a reincarnation ritual on the deceased thief. Falone rose in a new form, as a female Dragonborn.
It has taken some adjustment but Aurelia (as she now calls herself) has taken a philosophical approach to things: becoming a woman, growing scales and breathing fire are not things she'd ever expected to happened to her but it is honestly a bit of a thrill - and she rather enjoys the fact that she doesn't have to worry about the string of gambling debts and broken hearts she'd left behind as Falone is a definite bright spot (it hasn't yet occurred to the cunning but not overly wise dragonborn that she might make similar mistakes as Aurelia...)
Very recently Aurelia has returned to her home town and has made discrete contact with a few of her closest friends and mentors. She is looking to make a name for herself, make a little coin and take on what life in Baldur's Gate has to offer - and if she could get a chance to even the score with those who killed her, that wouldn't run amiss either...
Azam came with his parents to the city of Baldur's Gate a decade ago fleeing persecution. They settled in the city and started an odd shop with herbs and potions. Because they were broke his father had to take a loan from unsavory people. And what should have been an easy life turned into a nightmare.
Azam has had to do things for the thief guild that he didn't want to but the consequences were too dire. To alleviate his conscience he has been selling info on the criminals to a few ( honest ) captains of the guard and tries to work with them when he can.
Several years in now he doesn't see a way out of this but he has decided that the last run he does will be his last.
Backstory: His parents on the verge of being forced onto the street from bankruptcy, they felt they were left with no choice but to sell their youngest son to a gladiator trainer. At first the boy did not excel - he wasn't strong, and was always acting up. Eventually an older gladiator took him under his wing, and taught him how to centre himself, focus, and channel his inner energy, his ki. As he improved in this he found himself enjoying the fights, the cheering and booing, he found he loved the attention. He continued learning to channel his ki, even into the weapons he wielded. He chose the name Flash, and took to wearing the costume of a monk, to play up his act.
One day the trainer announced that Flash had earned his freedom, he was free to go. Although he relished this opportunity to see more of the world, fighting in the pits and arenas was all he knew. Perhaps there was some new purpose out there for him, and if he fought he would be fighting for himself. And where better to start than the busiest, most prosperous city on the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate!

Cassius comes from simple folk, farmers mostly, although he tried his hand at carpentry as well. One day, while he was in a heated argument from friends, he felt a surge of power and made the earth churn at his feet. Scared and confused, he ran home to tell his folks, who then explained to him that he comes from a certain bloodline, rumored to have dragon blood. Most generations have little to show for it, but occasionally one emerges that has access to great innate powers.
Convinced that he needs to use his powers for the greater good, he and his Pa decided that he should head to the big city and help the watch there to keep the peace. So he packed up his few belongings, and headed out for Baldur's Gate.
