The City of Elturel has disappeared, and in it's place there is nothing but a gaping hole. Hundreds of refugees flock to the city of Baldur's Gate, but the gates have been closed. No one can enter, and no one can leave. Baldur's Gate, a city already rife with crime and murder, is bubbling with the seeds of chaos. The Grand Duke has disappeared, and the Flaming Fists are struggling to keep order, seeking adventurers within the city to help them. Or executing them if they get in their way...
Welcome to Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus! First of all, thank you for checking this thread out! I'm looking for 4-6 players that will start off at level 1, ability points will be rolled for, and you can re-roll 1's only once.
All official D&D books are good and I'll be accepting homebrew on a case-by-case basis. Just pm me first! The only requirement for character creation is putting a reason for why your character is in Baldur's Gate in your backstory.
Deadline will be on the 14th, and I'll be starting the game either on the same day or on the 15th!
Although there will be darker elements in this campaign, I do intend to make it somewhat lighthearted, or throw in some dark humour now and again. But anyway! Thanks again for checking this out, and I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
Hi! I would be really interested! I've been playing through Baldur's Gate 3, so I am itching to learn more about the story of this adventure since it takes place at the same time as the game. I have a lot of ideas for characters. Is there anything particular you'd like us to say to apply?

I am also interested in this campaign. How would you like us to apply? Just list a character idea here? Also for rolling ability scores. Would you want those rolled here? Or somewhere else? I have lots of potential ideas for characters depending on the group. I would love to discuss more.

Yeah, just post a character concept on here, feel free to also drop a backstory as well, or PM it to me. Also, I would appreciate the rolls to be done here, yeah!
I have a character idea for a that is a Firbolg Peace Cleric that is venturing into Baldur's Gate on the trail of some of her tribe's missing children. I could flesh it out a bit more but that is the basic concept.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ability scores: 161816131515
Concept 1: Hope, Tiefling Refugee turned Warlock Hope is a tiefling that escaped from the fall of Elturel, but only barely. When she was certainly doomed (either during the fall or post-fall), she was saved suddenly by a devil. With no alternatives, she forged a pact with him. Prior to the fall, she was a simple acolyte in the church of Illmater.
Concept 2: Izolde, Human Fortune Teller (Bard, spirit college when 3) Izolde is a Gur currently living in Baldur's Gate making a living as best she can entertaining and telling fortunes on the street. The truth is, she has had prophetic dreams of a certain kind (which we can determine) which cause her to place herself in this city. She is certain she must aid the efforts of certain individuals (the party members) or else a great tragedy will befall Faerun.

I don't know anything about Baldurs gate and I havent done a PBP game yet. I played in the late 80s/early 90s and have about a year of playing 5e but am looking into PBP. I have been wanting to play a water genasi druid, with the sailor background and maybe going into the circle of the moon. Background "As a young boy Goon grew up on the coast in a small fishing village. One stormy night some pirates came to the village on a raiding run. His father was killed and the family ship was stolen. At the age of 16 he set out to become a great sailor and search for word on this family's ship."
Backstory: Mara Agua isn't sure where she came from or who her birth parents were. Raised by wolves, she's only ever known the forest and coasts of her wild home. Throughout her life she's seen a couple generations of her pack come and go, sharing joy with a new litter or sorrow with the fall of an old pack mate. But in addition to her wolf family, she's also made great acquaintances with other druids in the wild. Her mentor, an old centaur by the name of Jinete Sabio, was a dear friend whose passing was hard on her. But she persevered, dedicating herself to keeping watch over the land. But while she prefers to stay in the great outdoors, she does take trips time and time again into villages or meet up with travelers to get goods or share stories. And in one of those recent travels she heard about the disappearance of Elturel which disturbed her. For if a city could disappear, what might happen to her homeland? And so she took it upon herself to journey to Baldur's Gate and take action to prevent any harm from befalling her home.
This sounds like a really cool campaign, but I don't know if it's more for experienced players or noobs like me. I'm also only 16, in case my age matters like in most play-by-posts.
My character is a homebrew Myconid from The Myconid Package. I look forward to playing, assuming I'm allowed in!
9, 14, 14, 14, 15, 18
Dumb Backstory:
Pselbosnel was a Myconid grown from the Lowerdark city of Fluvenilstra. It had many friends in that city, and it wanted to protect them from danger.
Once it had matured, it studied how to defend its home from any mean intruders. The Myconid then joined the Fluvenilstra military, and life was good for a while.
It made some more military friends, though over the years it became less communicative, feeling like everything it said was stupid cringe and unimportant. Pselbosnel still listened to the Genasi in charge and it did whatever he commanded.
After 4 long years of peace, Pselbosnel was told to go scout as it always did. It did it's normal routine. As it got back to the city to give the Genasi the report, Pselbosnel was horrified to learn that its home, as well as all of its friends and even the Genasi's of whom it didn't like, was completely burned to the ground. It greatly disliked fire of any kind afterwards, as fire was meant for no more than destruction and hate.
Pselbosnel had traveled all the way from the Lowerdark to the Upperdark, even considering walking up to the lethal surface. Even though it felt so much lighter being up so much higher, it still had a heavy mental weight attached to it.
Despite the tragedy, the Myconid pushed on to find some other friends of whom it could accept. It quite liked the journey to the surface.
Because it was surrounded by Discord Light Mode, its backpack carried an umbrella everywhere to keep it from melting.
Searching for other adventurers, Pselbosnel had traveled to Baldur's Gate, before Elturel vanished, in hopes of finding a group.
Berlasar Malkador the Gold Dragonborn Divine Soul Sorcerer
Berlasar is an Acolyte of one of the many temples of the city, having been taken in at a young age due to his mix of arcane and divine Magic Due to being raised in such a cloistered environment he reacted like many young folk and rebelled against it. As soon as he was old enough to leave he did so, deciding to make his way in the city. He took up working at a rundown clinic in one of the slums, using his magic to both heal the sick and chase off the rabble. With the influx of refugees Berlasar tried to leave the city in order to help them but was stopped by the guards. After threats of arrest or worse he relented but still looked for a way to help. With the growing tensions in the city, he took up the job to help solve the issues, hoping it would open up the city once more.

Rekuberk Onc Level 8 | Half Orc | Barbarian (The Tales of the Fellowship of the White Cloaks)
Race: Visually Tazal is a Dwarf, but he has been affected by his trip to the Shadowfell. He has lost his darkvision, his ears have grown small points, his skin has a sullen gray undertone to the deep bronze that it once was, and his eyes have lost color leaving behind just gray iris's. (Custom Lineage with the Shadow Touched feat, and extra skill proficiency)
Class: Artificer (Armorer at level 3)
Ability Scores (post racial adjustments)
Strength: 11
Dexterity: 12
Constitution: 14
Intelligence: 20
Wisdom: 11
Charisma 12
Short Backstory: Tazal grew up on the surface, his family having moved out of their mines and south out of The Spine of the World. They moved around a lot, finding places to be smiths and jewelers eventually joining a guild of dwarven smiths. The guild was Tazal's second family, he spent many of his younger years working to be a smith, even learning the ways of magic imbuement from a dwarven artificer within the guild. Tragedy struck however around 70 years ago and Tazal's family forge in the city of Neverwinter 'burnt to the ground', or at least that was the official story. In actuality Tazal's brother Moxken had made a terrible decision entering a deal with a demon and then not following through on the deal. The result was a massively powerful explosion and his brother being sucked into the abyss. Tazal attempted to save Moxken but in the process was shunted deep into the Shadowfell as the teleportation magic went awry. Flash forward 60 years and Tazal had traded his way up to a favor from a powerful wizard in the Shadowfell which he promptly cashed in to return home. The Shadowfell had left it's mark on him though, his appearance having changed considerably, and where once there sat an eager young dwarf with a yearning to build great works now sat a scheming dwarf with vengeance on his mind. He knew the name of the demon that had taken his brother, the demon that had killed his family, that had sent him on a 60 year excursion to the bleak and emotionless Shadowfell, but he also knew that Demon would make him a plaything if he were to find it now. He needed time, time to build something that would protect him, something that would allow him to fight the demon, and possibly a group of allies to assist him.
Olara Evengrove has been sent out, away from her home for the first time, by her tribe's leaders to try and find some missing children of the tribe. They wondered off, but it has been too long since they were last seen. She has so far tracked their trail to Baldur's Gate.
Olara is very close with her tribe and had never once left the forest she was born in. Her parents are still alive and enjoying life at home. One of this missing children is her younger cousin and she very much wishes to find them.
While she is large and strong and capable, her tribe's lifestyle has left her naive in the ways of the rest of the world. She is easily distracted by the next shiny, new, interesting thing.
