Thorgrim and Ignacious return victorious from the Lost Mine of Phandelver. Covered in gore, filth, and laden with treasure, they set back across the foothills of the Sword Mountains. They carve a path familiar to them (the green path) and travel back lazily with an injured Daren in tow.
As they approach the town of Phandalin, they feel the temporary effects of the magical forge begin to fade as their newly imbued weapons return to their mundane states of being. Daren, looking worse for wear but still quite alive, says to the party, "I'm glad you two came to Phandalin. I'm sorry I wasn't more help at the end, but I'm glad you saw it all through. I think you've made a real difference."
Daren's adventuring days seem to be all but behind him. The firey glow in his eyes has been replaced by quiet contemplation and bittersweet resignation. Daren speaks of his yearning to tend to his orchard.
Upon returning to the town of Phandalin, there is no fanfare, no large crowds, just the quiet life of a small town. Happy, peaceful, and above all, safe. There are no more brigands patrolling the streets. There is an air of levity surrounding the place. As you come down the road past Barthen's Provisions, you see Ander and Thistle, the clerks, busy rustling with a cart of new provisions. It seems trade has picked up quite nicely. A few new faces are outside the shop haggling with Elmar Barthen. He greets you warmly and then quickly returns to bargaining.
Before Daren returns to his orchard, he tells you, "Interesting, I wonder if rumor has spread about your discovery of the Lost Mine. Surely people knew that the Rockseekers were close, but now that Glasstaff is gone and the Redbrand's broken, it seems like Phandalin is coming into a new age." Daren then bids you farewell and limps off toward his orchard. Before you are out of earshot, Daren turns and calls out, "Thanks for one last adventure! If you ever need me, you know where to look." He then continues around the bend towards his home.
As you continue down the familiar street, you see the Shrine of Luck off on your right, where Sister Garaele is praying to Tymora. You see Linene Graywind plying her trade with new customers at the Lionshield Coster. Harbin Wester, the townmaster, is standing outside Townmaster's Hall, greeting new miners and adventurers. He is discussing plans to convert Tresendar Manor into a larger inn for the fresh faces arriving daily. Seems he has a plan to make money. Fitting for Harbin.
The party has a moment to contemplate. They have goods, treasures, and stories to tell. Sister Garaele would likely be willing to help identify any magical accouterments. After all, the Harpers owe the party a favor or two. Linene and Barthen would be happy to purchase any excess wares, of that you're sure.
While you are debating your options, Sildar Hallwinter approaches from the inn. "Hail, friends, I'm glad to see you returned safely. Tell me, how has your adventure been?"
