Barty's "Lost Mine of Phandelver"

Nemean lashes out again with his blades, taking aim at the wounded Ghoul in front of Tochi.

Finna comes to Tochi's rescue, loosing a crossbow bolt down the feral ghoul's neck as it approaches its paralyzed prey. Another ghoul behind it is eager for its own opportunity, however, and leaps over the fallen creature to tear into the aarakocra's arm with its wicked teeth. It is quickly pushed back by a thrown javelin from Thulgrim. Nemean continues his dextrous style, moving quickly around a ghoul on the balls of his feet, cutting into its flesh at opportune moments.

Round 3 Order:

Placement:
Four ghouls remain.
Two ghouls are engaged in melee combat, one each with Tochi and Nemean.
Thulgrim and Finna are 10 feet behind Tochi and Nemean.
The tunnel is only wide enough for two combatants to fight side by side (currently Tochi and Nemean).

Tracking:
Tochi is paralyzed and lightly wounded.

The ghoul fighting Tochi is wounded.
The ghoul fighting Nemean is lightly wounded.

Thulgrim has thrown 1 handaxe and 1 javelin.
Finna has fired 1 bolt.

Finna raised her hand and whispered several angry words. A beam of silver light covered ghoul attacking Tochi now but not spreading on any of her companions: Moonbeam  14 (if you use my roll here)

Thulgrim continues to try to push the ghouls back from Tochi by force of arms. He hefts another javelin and casts it at the foes pressing in.

Thulgrim will also move up as close behind Tochi as he can, in case he needs to help protect Nemean's flank

Nemean continues to swing at the the ghoul in front of Tochi. If he is able to fell the creature he will try to step into the space to protect his comrade and open room for Thulgrim to step into the fray.

A second javelin from Thulgrim barrels into the first ghoul, preventing it again from closing the distance to Tochi. The monk, fighting against his unmoving limbs, finally feels movement returning to his fingers and arms, trying desperately to get his feet to do the same as the ghoul closes in. The creature's unnaturally widened jaw closes in on his face - and then simply isn't, torn to shreds by two brutal slices from Nemean. At the same time, a bright beam of pure light appears over the creature, Finna's moonbeam catching the fallen ghoul alight; and also Nemean, who steps into the space to protect Tochi, but is met with a searing pain as his fur dances with radiant flame.

Locked in combat for the first time, the new Phandalin Four has gained the upper hand on the undead menaces. The remaining ghouls continue to press forward, throwing themselves at Nemean and Thulgrim, but now aware of the danger in a ghoul's claws, the pair stay well out of reach, waiting for an opportunity to strike back.

Round 4 Order:

Due to the space in the tunnel, each combatant is only able to reach two ghouls in melee combat.

Thulgrim has thrown 1 handaxe and 2 javelins.
Finna has fired 1 bolt.

As Nemean pounces deeper into the fray to protect Tochi, Thulgrim's eyes widen as he sees open space between him and the ghouls in front. With an unobstructed view of their assailants at last, Thulgrim's pupils dilate ... his nostrils flare as he catches a full whiff of the ghouls' stench ... now sensing their primal hunger, he feels a familiar tingle down his mohawk and a rush of blood to his face and neck ... the slathering of their undead maws causes a ringing in his ears ... and hefting his greataxe in both his tattooed hands at last, he bellows his short petition to Clangeddin and charges in to meet the ghoul face to face ...

Terrible! Finna was so sure she knows the right distance and needed space for every spell by heart! She moved now visible beam so, that it would not touch either of her companions but still reach ghouls - Moonbeam  8  after that she send Healing Word to Nemean 13 (1st level)

Tochi, finally able to get up, mumbles something about wishing he knew which monster hit him, then runs towards Nemean and strikes whichever of the creatures attacking him looks more weakened.

 You just roll the damage dice again, so just 1d4. The modifier is only applied once.

The battle pauses as Nemean calls a time-out in order to retie his shoelace. The ghouls take advantage of the lull to have a quick team huddle, after which they break and resume their former positions. Tochi preens his fur. Much to Finna's dismay, Thulgrim squashes a few cockroaches so as to ensure he doesn't lose his rage bonus.

OOC: Lol. Botting Nemean for this round with a pair of attacks. Adding Tochi's extra hit die for the crit. Re-rolling Finna's healing word, which should be 1d4+5, not 5d4.

Thulgrim slams his greataxe directly into the ghoul's chest. The creature flails as the dwarf ragdolls it back and forth, trying to tear the axe back out for a second strike, getting clawed on the forearm in the process. Tochi presses the wounded ghoul, able to move once more and showing it with a vicious crack on the ghoul's skull and rending a claw down its face, splattering an eye. Nemean finishes it off with a clean cut into the side of its head, while simultaneously slicing off a hand of the other ghoul nearby, breathing a sigh of relief as Finna moves the moonbeam he stepped into a few feet to the side and healing some of its burns. The ghoul dies screaming as the beam's radiant flames slowly disintegrate it.

One ghoul and way too close to the party - Finna relaxed and silver light disappeared. Instead she shot again:

(While raging, Thulgrim is resistant to slashing/bludgeoning/piercing damage, so does he take half that damage?)

With spittle flying from his mouth, Thulgrim continues to roar at the ghoul as he swings his mighty axe back and forth.

Nemean turns to the last Ghoul and locks his eyes upon his target. He holds perfectly still for a long moment before he bursts into action. He lunges forward with both blades.

Nemean ducks to allow Ola to fire her shot, which goes wide, skipping off of the cavern wall. Lunging forward, he cuts twice into the tendons in the creature's legs, dropping it to its knees. Thulgrim seizes the opportunity, removing its heads from its shoulders.

OOC: Party's location is the red square.

Each character has received 350 XP for defeating the ghouls.

Thulgrim casts around wild-eyed, looking for more foes to slay, but seeing none he shudders an drops his shoulders and his head and takes a deep breath.

Ah, it be good t' taste battle again. 

Then, looking to his companions to ensure none are in mortal peril from wounds, he retrieves his javelins and handaxe, and wipes off his axe.

So Finna, I see ye found us some foes t' slay! It be more'n I'd expected t' 'ave 'em delivered!

"There will be more, and not the pleasant one. Worse than those ghouls". Finna could talk now and draw properly. And that is what she did - finishing the map on the floor. "So, past that corridor is the huge room with the wheel, where those seven were. But after that is another room with something like a floating flaming skull with a group of zombies. Got sloppy and let that thing attack me - barely escaped. Did not have a chance to see past that room."

"Now, to the south there is that cave fool of glowing fungi. Have no idea what is it but did not risk to check closer. Such things are usually bad news." "What do we do now?"

Thulgrim's eyes sparkle a little as he hears about zombies and other foes, and he hefts his axe again and says: Let's be after 'em then!
