OOC: Long rest it is! You'll be waiting a few hours for sleep to settle in, then resting and recovering for at least 8 hours. Is anyone taking a watch or is everyone conking out? Watches can be up to 2 hours without sacrificing the benefits of a long rest. Also, is everyone sleeping on cold hard stone or do you have a way to make your rest more comfortable?
Nemean does not have a way to make his rest more comfortable, he will curl up and rest his chin on his tail as he closes his eyes. He mutters about resting first and taking the second watch as he drifts off.
OOC: I agree about exploring the Northwest corner first, then making our way east.

Vercinius Thrax: Lizardfolk Cleric - Hoard of the Dragon Queen
L’Ouverture Zinn: Kobold Sorcerer - Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage
Titus Vorenus: Dragonborn Paladin - Waterdeep: Dragon Heist
Nemean Goldenmane: Tabaxi Fighter - Lost Mine of Phandelver (Retired)
Finna would be fine with any shift (third then?), as for "hard cold floor" - did not we have crates/baskets in the storage room? That actually made us think it is storage? If they are sturdy - it's as good of a bed (for a mercenary) as any. If they are broken - they can be broken further to the pieces and make the floor warmer and softer.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Try not to assume the benefits of a long rest too early, I'll update sheets once a long rest has been completed. Your friendly neighborhood DM may or may not be rolling for random encounters during the night....
I'll assume that Roland is okay with taking the last remaining watch.

The rhythmic booming sound that is still prevalent within the mine provides a fine backdrop for the party, and even in the naturally cold storeroom, sleep comes quite easily. Thulgrim's watch passes without event, and the tired and hungry dwarf trades with Nemean after a couple hours have passed.
After a similarly quiet hour, however, Nemean's watch is interrupted by a pair of gruff voices from the tunnel outside of the storeroom, speaking in an unfamiliar language.
"Mec Grol duuc'd dar dhuugaagaar. A tuul daan dalaan ar dhuur or ol."
One of the voices chuckles, and continues speaking, but the words become even more unclear as they pass by and fade away.
OOC: Waiting to continue the rest in case Nemean wishes to do something here.
(OOC: Oops, my bad. I think it's just my abilities and my Hit Points, which I can't remember. Was I on 8? If Thulgrim also gets short rest benefits, then I'll use any remaining Hit Dice, which I also don't recall whether I used or not. I'll look back...)
Thulgrim jumps up instantly, grasping for his axe, but calms down at the gestures from Nemean, and likewise nods to indicate his agreement. He then shuffles as quietly as a dwarf barbarian can toward sleeping Finna and Roland and rouses them also.
(OOC2: I looked back, and apparently we had one short rest, but didn't use any Hit Dice)
Finna awakes instantly and silently (old habits). She could not see Nemean gesticulation, but could probably hear dying echo of the intruder's voices. "What to go after them?" the question was barely audible, but she hoped Thulgrim heard her.
Thulgrim nods in reply to Finna's question, and heads to the door to peek out. He will follow Nemean's lead, as the cat is significantly more stealthy than the dwarf.

OOC: I'll assume Nemean is fine with heading out into the corridor in front of Thulgrim.

In the tunnel outside of the storage room, walking to the north, toward the ghoul hall and the direction of another boom that drowns out their conversation, is a pair of bugbears. Around 50 feet away now, their backs are to Nemean and Thulgrim as they peer out into the corridor.
(OOC: I'd vote for a long rest. Then I'd suggest clearing the black spots in the middle and the top-left before moving to the right side of the map)

Thanks for the map!)

Thulgrim can take first watch then, so the others can fall asleep without him snoring.

Yeah, if I don't kill something soon ... where did that Aarakocra go? A spit-roasted giant drumstick would hit the spot.
Or maybe Droop - he's expendable.

Nemean nonchalantly wakes Thulgrim and gestures at the grunting coming from beyond the storeroom door, making a slicing motion across his throat...
