Thatch sees the rock tumble from the darkness too late to avoid it. The glancing blow to his head was just enough to loosen his grip and his focus and he slid down the cliff face, landing in a heap at the bottom. He sits up, rubbing his head ruefully “I am sorry good sirs”He looks up at the top again “I swear I saw something up there, and I heard something right before the rock came down. That was no accident. I can try again if it pleases you.”
Hotspur grimaces. "Sorry about that, mate, guess my inspirational efforts didn't quite do the job." He helps the young man to his feet and dusts him off. "Well, a couple of bruises, but doesn't seem to be anything too serious. You game for another try?" (Another Inspiration dice granted if wanted)

Thatch nods to Hotspur, his pride bruised more than his body “I will get it this time, but keep a watch on the top. There is something up there.” He picks a slightly different path this time, trying to avoid the area where the rock came crashing down, and scrambles up the cliff face again.

Thatch scrambles up the cliff-face at blinding speed, so much so that he hears cries of surprise from above and scrambling alarm, two other boulders crash down the cliffside missing him easily. As he reaches the top he can hear people crashing off away from him through the wet forest.

"Bastards!" growled Argyle as he saw the boulders crash, then looked up, fury in his eyes. "Hold fast, Thatch!" he yelled as he tried to climb after him.
A few moments later a heavily breathing Argyle is beside Thatch at the top of the cliff, there is a bare area of weathered stones and blueberries at the top of the cliff before the forest closes in once more.
Tana watches from below with a worried gaze as both Thatch and Argyle vanish over the top of the cliff. She turns to the horse and tells it to be careful on the way back home, 'Don't follow any strangers anywhere. Someone back in the town will find you a nice dry place and some food.' She lets the horse go before turning back towards the rest of the party.
"Shall we wait and see if they find anything up there? It doesn't seem like the rest of us would have an easy time following." She notes.
"Thatch! Are you alright?!" said Argyle as soon as he clamored up. "Did you see whoever it was that pushed those boulders toward you?" The bondsman peered into the forest for a moment, trying to spot anything before continuing, "You might want to go ahead and secure that rope; I'll go up a little ways to make sure those cretins don't come back."
(( Argyle will move up 20 feet to try to get a better view, but that's it; he'll then draw his blades and attack anyone who rushes out of the forest. Perception Check:13 ))

“I’m fine sir, I didn’t see anyone, but I heard them run off that way” Thatch points to the direction, grateful that Argyle has joined him at the top. He nods as Argyle moves off to stand guard and attaches one end of the rope to a large stone at the top of the cliff before tossing the other end down to the group waiting below. He sticks his head over the edge and waves, giving a sign to those below that it is safe to climb. As the others climb, he keeps watch for any threats. Perception: 13.

Argyle can hear people crashing through foliage, they are moving away from him and far enough out that the sound is fading beneath the sound of the rain already...

It seems that any direct threat is over for now....
Hotspur manages to pull himself up with the others. His cheeks are a little red and his breathing slightly labored from the effort. "Whew!" he gasps. "Too much exercise for me! I'm ready to get back to my comfortable booth at the tavern with a jug and a pipe!"
Bringing up the rear, Valor ascends the cliff face, watching for any threats from behind. Finally at the top, he looks around, assessing the situation, breathing a little hard, but otherwise not showing any external signs of fatigue.
"No idea what attacked us, I suppose?" He asks of no one in particular. "Good job with the rope, Thatch, are you hurt?"
Seeing the others come up, then Valor, Argyle sheathed his blades and walked toward the group. Approaching Valor, he reported, "At least two people, but they ran off. We're good for the moment."

"Well, I'm hoping they throw down a rope..." replies the bard, drily.

Morseth begins the climb, thankful for the rope.
(OOC Do the rest of us need to make a roll for the climb? If so, which Skill, and does the rope convey advantage?)
( If theres a rope there theres no need for rolls, some will just ascend slower than others.)

At the top Morseth tries wipe off some of the mud. "I am ready to proceed"
Tana follows up on the rope, moving a bit slower so as to not slip. As she pulls herself up, she looks over at Thatch.
"Did you see anyone up here? It seems awfully quiet considering they were just pushing boulders down the cliff."
