Professor Potter does a quick identify ritual on the orb. "Yep," he says once the ritual is complete, "it is definitely a goblin orb but not the Master Orb. It seems to have another spell on it besides the usual ones, though, one which I cannot identify."
"I have already done an identify ritual," Professor Potter protests.
"Yes," Professor Elderberry says. "Professor Potter is very adept at the art of divination. If he could not identify the spell, it must be something new, something that repeating the ritual will unlikely uncover." He folds his arms, tucking them into his voluminous sleeves. "But do whatever you think might help," he eventually relents.
"Phew! So, I'm thinking a "Fireball" might be linked to the ball. Not 100% certain, but I'd have a fire protection spell running before I'd investigate further. Do you want to bring it back into the building or leave it here while we figure it out?"

Orion flexes a little and says, "I'm happy to help with the heavy lifting, but don't ask me identify arcane spells."
"I can cast Identify as a Ritual, to see if I can recognize the extra spell."

Professor Elderberry nods his head in agreement.
Sargent Sloan picks up the box and carries it back inside with the professors following behind.
"We should put it in the vault," Professor Potter says anxiously.
Again, Professor Elderberry nods his head in agreement.
"To the vault it is then," Sargent Sloan says as he walks down the hall with the box and past the laboratory entrance.
